With clients ranging from rugby league players to mums and bubs, Kirsten King believes Pilates can change your body and your mind - for the better. Designed during the first half of the 20th century by Joseph Pilates, a German physical-culturist, Pilates is a system of exercises which are intended to strengthen the human mind and body. Pilates believed that mental and physical health is interrelated. With a gymnast father and naturopath mother, Pilates obviously had a genetic disposition to both physical and mental wellbeing.

Kirsten King was introduced to Pilates as a means of rehabilitation after 18 years of dancing and several knee injuries. Through her own positive personal experience and wanting to share the potential of Pilates, Kirsten began on the path to teach. Having completed her studies through the Australian Pilates Method Association nearly 10 years ago and teaching in both Australia and overseas, Kirsten has recently joined Ange Barton as joint directors at Sydney’s fluidform. Kirsten works extensively with clients with a variety of needs - ranging from elite athletes to those requiring rehabilitation. And as a mother of two, Kirsten also has a keen interest in teaching women pre and post natal. “I have seen clients loose over 20kgs in weight, be able to get down on the floor and play with their children again, get back to running without pain and stop taking pain relief.
