A message from Wayne and Teena

And so we set the bar higher… Well, it’s been another great year for Vaughan Team, Epping. Consistently at the top of our game, we started the year smashing the previous record set for Eastwood in March by $960,000. With the new record in that area now $3,960,000, we’ve proved, once again, that setting the bar high is what we do. Between January and July this year, McGrath held all 10 of the “Top 10 Sales” in Epping, and 4 of the top 10 for Eastwood, maintaining our leadership in this tightly held enclave we call home. But where we really thrive, is the community in which we’ve been embedded for 28 years. We love what we do, but we love our community more. It’s reflected in our on-going, consistent sponsorship and support of local schools, junior sport clubs and bowling clubs. We proudly invest much of our time and energy into this precious part of our world, understanding it is an honour and privilege to do so. As we head towards the pointy end of 2017, we wish you a positive close to what has been abundant year to date for our team, and community. A message from John McGrath

More kids in public schools raises property prices More parents are choosing to educate their children in government schools, which is a complete reversal of the 40-year trend towards private education, according to the latest Schools Report from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. This change began in 2015 and has been increasing since then. The number of students staying through to Year 12 has also increased from 75% in 2006 to 84.3% in 2016, which means family home owners in prized school catchments are staying put longer. So what does this mean for real estate? In short, a lot! The desirability of homes within the catchment zones of the best public schools has been growing across Australia. A key factor was the introduction of the My School website launched in 2010, which provides directly comparable performance data for every public school based on NAPLAN results and other factors. The ability to directly compare schools means family buyers can handpick a top public school for their kids and give them guaranteed entry by simply moving into the catchment zone. The effect of high quality schools on local property prices is highlighted in the latest Domain School Zones report, which show house price growth data by catchment zone rather than by suburb.
