SOCIAL SCIENCES

10:00 am – 3:30 pm (last tour leaves at 3:00 pm) Available on a drop-in basis

The “First Year Science: All You Need to Know” information session will be your introduction to studying Science at McMaster, specifically focusing on our four first-year Gateway programs of Chemical & Physical Sciences, Environmental & Earth Sciences, Life Sciences and Mathematics & Statistics. Offered at 10:00 am and 12:15 pm in the Michael DeGroote Centre for Learning and Discovery (MDCL), this presentation will give an overview of important topics such as program structure, course planning, and resources available to first year students. In addition to these sessions, each of our seven first-year programs will host sessions focusing on program-specific information. If you wish to chat face-to-face, drop in to the Atrium of MDCL for an opportunity to directly meet with engaging faculty, staff, and students stationed at each of our first-year program booths. Here you will learn more about courses, our many upper-level programs (including co-op), information about experiential learning, and careers in science. Science-specific guided tours will be departing from MDCL between 10:30 am - 2:30 pm to venture out to our laboratories and facilities. Spend approximately 1 hour with us to see the places you can work and study in as a first year Science student! Many of our laboratories and facilities will also offer drop-in tours, so you can return to spend more time and learn more about these spaces, if you wish.
