The Connection Between Well-Being, Staff Turnover and a High-Reliability Organization

Challenges of Implementing Imaging Equipment into an Information Technology Environment

John Beall, Health System Specialist-Strategic Planner, VA Puget Sound Health Care System

Gregory Goll, Manager Projects & Medical Imaging Services Department, WellStar Health System

In these interesting times of keeping the right and qualified people in our facilities, any improvement made with regard to turnover can make a difference in keeping your staff engaged and physically present. What motivates someone to be and stay actively engaged in the workplace is not the same across the board. How can you help encourage this with your staff? The presenter will address leader engagement. This includes levels of communication, (both direct and indirect), as well as the example being demonstrated to the staff. For some, this session will serve as a refresher. For others, it may be the first step in your journey as a leader. Either way, it will be a great tool to have in your leader toolbox.

The presenter will address the unique requirements that involve medical imaging equipment. Imaging equipment has many similar characteristics to biomedical equipment, but it also presents a unique challenge to make sure images are generated to maintain a high quality of definition. There are unique software platforms and much more interaction with members of the IT department inside a health care system.

Preparing for a Cyberattack in Imaging Angelica Bush, System Director of Imaging, University of Texas Medical Branch Utilizing five why's as well as military-trained critical thinking and disaster planning, we will discuss collaboratively what questions imaging managers should be asking themselves, key stakeholders and staff to come up with a plan that works for your site. No plan will be painless, but the thoughtful engagement of the right people and clearly communicating the plan will minimize shock should you find yourself in a cyberattack situation that has taken down your network.
