Most children with multiple disabilities have a unique combination of symptoms. Each child requires unique, modified toys. DOWN CEREBRAL SYNDROMEEMOTIONAL AUTISM PALSY

INTERVIEW

+ INSIGHT TWO

We interviewed Heidi, an expert in pediatric disability rehabilitation. Her insights helped to define the best and worst features of her toys.

Teachers, physical therapists and parents prefer using every day toys (accessibility & durability) to play with children with disabilities.

SITE VISIT

+ INSIGHT THREE

We visited Kauri Sue Hamilton School for kids with multiple, severe disabilities in Riverton, Utah. A tour here provided an educational perspective.

The pool is the most universal, level playing field for children with disabilities. It’s also the most free place for a child confined to a chair.

= PRIMARY OPPORTUNITY Design a pool toy that offers developmental benefits to kids with typical development and kids with disabilities alike. Focus on systems that foster a child’s development by encouraging physical, imaginative play.
