THE RESEARCH
PROBLEM SPACE The encroachment of humans in wilderness areas have changed animal behavior considerably. In this case when bears are introduced to human food their normal foraging habits are changed and bears become much more aggressive in their actions to get human food. The “problem” then needs to be taken care of to keep recreating human beings safe.. “A fed bear is a dead bear”
PROBLEM STATEMENT Provide the backcountry traveler with a multi-purpose food storage system that increases the enjoyment of backpacking in areas where animal activity may threaten human and food safety by creating a product that is lightweight, sustainable, versatile, and more user friendly than products currently available.
PERSONAS Who and what is at stake here.

MARKET ANALYSIS A look at the stagnant commercial market for bear canisters. Most of these products are the same general size and shape and use primarily unsustainable materials in their construction. They also include an inconvenient animal proof locking mechanism.
OPPORTUNITIES Adjustable size to accomadate party size and trip length. Multiple uses out of this tool including dinner ware or seating. Intuitive and user friendly opening system to alleviate frustration and increase speed on the trail. Material choice and usage to offer the outdoorsman a smarter and more environmentally resonsible product.
