MARIETTA DAILY JOURNAL â—? MAY 1, 2016
M
ay 24 is a big day for candidates seeking political office and an even bigger day for aspiring judges and clerks: The Republican and Democratic parties will hold general primaries to select nominees for the November general election, and judicial seats will be elected in a nonpartisan general election. The winners of the party primaries will have their names on the ballot on November 8. They could also face challenges then from independent and write-in candidates, who can qualify in June. Both Democrats and Republicans in Georgia hold open primaries, meaning voters do not have to be registered with either party to vote for that party’s candidates. Early voting starts May 2 at one location and expands to six locations on May 16. Voters do not have to give a reason for voting early. The locations for early voting are as follows:
May 2 - May 13: Main elections office 736 Whitlock Ave. Marietta 30064-4663 Mon-Fri 8am-5pm
May 14: Main elections office 736 Whitlock Ave. Marietta 30064-4663 Sat 9am-4pm
