Pat Power joined the Irish Lighthouse Service on Wednesday 1 Nov 1978. During his 14 years as a keeper, he was stationed on 25 of the then 28 operational lighthouses around the island of Ireland.

Battle of Larne: a talk by Stephen McCracken

In 1798 the Army of Ulster had over 110,000 members ready for a summer rising. Join Stephen as he takes you through an hourby-hour account of the much under reported Battle of Larne which took place in the early hours of June 1798. On display will be a number of items from the period, cannon balls, pistols etc. This is a free event, however places are limited and should be booked in advance.

Travel back in time to witness the historic 1689 siege of Carrickfergus Castle by King William III, led by the Duke of Schomberg against the Jacobite Irish commanding forces. A free event boasting over 40 re-enactors dressed in period costume, followed by a pageantry parade and live cannon and musket firing. Keep the whole family entertained with a falconry display, face painting, balloon modelling and arts and crafts.
