Hello everyone! Hope everyone is having a great start to semester 2! :) This month we have some fun new opportunities such as our career panels, and new dates for CityReach volunteering. Make sure to sign up if you are interested! As our term begins to come to an end we will start sharing more information about running for an exec! Keep an eye out!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE NEWS

WELCOME OUR NEW SPONSOR TEACHER

Happy semester 2 VT key club! We hope everyone is settling nicely into their new classes Unfortunately, Ms Lee, our previous sponsor teacher, will not be here this semester If haven't wished congratulations to Ms lee, do so in your head, because she's currently on maternity leave! She'll return to Van Tech next year in semester 2! With Ms Lee gone, we have our NEW sponsor teacher MR. LIANG! Don't be afraid to say 'hi' or ask him any English-related questions (he's an English teacher) he's incredibly friendly and is a great teacher to sponsor VT key club Welcome, Mr Liang with open arms!

KIWANIS POTLUCK

On January 21st, VT Key Club teamed up with Kiwanis and hosted a potluck gettogether! Big thank you to the members who made it out! We hope you guys had a fun time getting to meet Kiwanis members and listening to their experiences & stories!

RECAP REMINDERS

MEETINGS + BREAKFAST CLUB

Meetings continue to be every other Tuesday at lunch in the auditorium! Any changes will be notified and updated. Stay up to date and join our discord or teams! - contact an exec for more information.

Thanks to everyone who signed up for the upcoming breakfast club dates. Dates are still open if you are still interested! The spreadsheet can be found on teams or in our discord. Please remember what day you signed up for and be punctual!

If you cannot make the day you signed up for, contact Jeanne ASAP we do not want to be short volunteers the day of.

CAREER PANELS

PANEL #1

We are hosting our first career panel of 2023 on Thursday, February 9th from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm!

You will get the opportunity to learn about the careers of a lawyer, an accountant, and an architect! This is a great chance to help you figure out your future career path This online career panel will take place on Google Meets and we will send the link a day prior via Teams, Discord, and email This career panel is open to any student - feel free to invite your friends!

Please fill out the google form in our discord or teams to sign up! THE DEADLINE IS FEB. 8TH, 11:59PM

CITYREACH VOLUNTEERING

What: Volunteer for CityReach the local food bank across the road from the school! Tasks include sorting produce, packing hampers, crushing boxes, distributing hampers, arranging the pantry, and other miscellaneous tasks

When: March 28th, 3:30-7:00

Where: 2650 Slocan St, Vancouver

Who: YOU! sign up on the spreadsheet, only 5 spots are available so secure your spot now! (3 points/hour)

Huge thanks to those who have filled up our Feb 28th spots! Please be punctual and be the best volunteer you can be! :)

PANEL #2

What: Are you interested and/or thinking of pursuing a career related to the sciences? This career panel is the right fit for you Learn about the career paths of a nuclear physicist, environmental scientist, registered nurse, and filmer/editor! You will get to ask them questions during the second half of the career panel This is a great opportunity to learn about their jobs and will help you figure out what you would like to do in the future!

Who: We have a nuclear physicist, environmental scientist, registered nurse, and a filmer/editor Any student who goes to Van Tech may join this webinar so send the link and invite your friends!

Where: Google Meets (link will be sent before the meeting time)

When: Wednesday, February 21st, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Why: Learn and expose yourself to a variety of different careers to help you discover new interests and potential future jobs!
