Nick Olsen Nick Olsen is a 29-year-old software developer working for Google. He's lived his whole life in Brixton but moved to this Dunbridge St. apartment. He's a big fan of photography, music (heÂ´s taking guitar lessons )and graphic design (he's got a line of T-shirts and sweatshirts designed by him that he's selling on his page and through Instagram). He usually goes on a bike or a motorbike to work. He also likes to cook with his friends and family and enjoy his free time. He lives with two adopted cats (Cookie and Malware). Nick just moved into an apartment on Dunbridge St. It's a nice apartment set in a modern gated community where an old bathhouse was built. It has an inner patio and plenty of natural light.

Nick just moved in and took advantage of the few furniture he had in his tiny old apartment. He likes the open space that he currently enjoys, and the sun that falls through the windows. Although he'd like to have less in the bedroom (the curtains are not enough to darken the atmosphere). There seems to be enough room for the kitchen, but he regrets not getting more storage, or a nice table to sit down with his friends and family. The space looks very sparse and impersonal. He also wants an environment where he can work from home that is more relaxed and friendly. Nick says has no preferences for specific color palettes, but he likes wood, stone, iron, and he loves plants, specially cactus (the only plants his cats don't eat). A recipe mixing urban, industrial and hygge style would work fine here. Also (important) a better heating system is a requirement. (there is only one electric radiator, while a water radiator can be installed (the building has a functional central heating system)

SHOREDITCH Shoreditch, which extends from Kingsland Road to Old Street Station, has been considered a poor and violent neighborhood for many years. With the notorious murders of Jack the Ripper near Whitechapel and the countless bombings during the Blitz, enjoying Shoreditch was the last idea on any traveler's agenda.

But all this transformed in the 90s when young artists like Damien Hirst started to move to the area, and trendy nightspots started popping up all over London's East End. Today, Shoreditch is regarded to be the mecca of London's creativity and is packed with galleries, art museums and creative artworks (from some of the world-famous artists such as ROA and Banksy).

Most people walk to Shoreditch only to see the markets, that always draws a big crowd (particularly on Sundays). But if there is one thing that is certain about Shoreditch, it is that the neighborhood knows how to throw a good party. From circus-themed pubs to comic book bars, Shoreditch has some of London's most popular bars and clubs

Ankit Bansal Ankit Bansal is a 27-year-old UX designer working as team leader for Google in Delhi. He enjoys travelling and has visited a number of destinations around the world. He loves cooking for his friends and family, and is passionate about movies and series. Ankit moved to his brother's penthouse, (he now lives and works in London). The apartment is roughly 60m2 and needs a redesign and a change of style. It is located in a penthouse in the Connaught Place district, the commercial financial and business hub of Delhi. It's quite spacious and has a lovely terrace. Ankit would like to have space enough to cook and share a good dining around a table with friends and family. contemporary style furniture, preferring bright colors and high end finishes. The apartment has a lot of possibilities, and although it doesn't have large windows, it's completely exterior. A contemporary and refined style could work very well in this home. Ankit works also from home, so heâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;d like to have a space for it, and a place to display his photography works.

A glance at any map of Delhi, drawn after the 1920s, will show clearly what is probably the most prominent landmark of Delhi, the distinctive wheel-like structure of Connaught Place. Although it’s been officially renamed Rajiv Chowk, after India’s former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi, Connaught Place continues to be referred to by its original, colonial name or by its popular acronym, CP.

While Connaught Place itself is one of the city’s largest and most important commercial and business districts, the area surrounding this hub is equally interesting. Dotted across this stretch are a number of significant buildings (many of which formed part of Lutyens’ Delhi). Bansal Delhi dances in this room in bright colors and spicy fragrance, which are a modern CYMK profile influenced by the profile of Ankit's UX designers and that brings to textiles the festive colors of the city while the black & white chairs and tables call to order. This is the space where creativity inspired by vibrant colors, combined with white, brings room vitality and equilibrium.

GIA is an object designed to perform both decorative and functional tasks. Its shape is inspired by the Panton Classic Chair (it's made of plastic and inspired by that chair's curved shapes and base) and complements it as a decorative object. The real inspiration for creating this item comes from the chair of Panton and also its history. I was very fascinated by the fact that Panton had not been able to see his ideal chair until the 1990s, when plastic manufacturing had actually advanced enough to create a solid, saleable chair. I was inspired by its colors and shapes to create a floor lamp that would complement its design. Yet once I had the idea in my head, I chose to do more than just make a lamp, and I developed GIA into a state-of-the-art device that would reinvent the Google Nest range of products, including Bluetooth connectivity, WiFi n and 5 G, modular data storage, and the latest sound technology developed by LG, a sound crystal that is already being used in QLED televisions and some mobile devices. GIA would add functions to those known to assistants developed by Amazon, Google or Apple, that would be called the brain of the house, the control of lights, temperature, water and energy consumption and management, the operation of appliances and even the shopping list (today the refrigerators do not have that technology but will soon have it ). Conceptually, this is like HAL 9000 from "2001: a space odyssey", but without its urge to try to kill its owner. GIA, due to its design and performance, is called upon to participate in the upper-middle range segment and represents the concern for sustainable development by being made entirely of recycled plastic. Its colors are fully customizable (we see that Nick's GIA is turquoise blue and Ankit is tangerine and white), although other more lavish finishes in bronze, brass or wood would be possible. GIA is graphically stylish and light, and the light emitted by the QLED screen is adjustable in tone and intensity.I think I have achieved a fairly balanced design where the shape of the object is a natural extension of its function, it maintains the essence of the object which I was inspired by, and a certain retro spirit, although it could be improved in future releases.

GIA responds to the needs of my two clients (let's remember that I have based myself on their professional activities to develop it and in the Assignment I am a self-proclaimed product designer hired by them). GIA is an aesthetic and functional loudspeaker lamp at the same time, which thanks to its customization works well in diďŹ&#x20AC;erent styles of interiors and houses IA technology that both are developing in their department and that aims to be the flagship product of the brand in the horizon of the next 5 years. As developers and hard core of the creative team, they have been actively involved in the design concept and the product meets not only their needs but also those of their potential buyers. The cultural background of my clients did not have a specific weight in the design, due to the object's nature, but I wanted GIA to be customized in its finishings, to fit the chromatic palettes of these two designs. I have also been interested in using recycled plastic as a material, as India is now facing a major problem with plastic waste and has made a step forward in legislation to restrict the flow of plastic waste from other countries and the local single-use plastic production. The use of recycled plastic is being emphasized as a common need and good. This is not a product like leather, for example, which could cause a certain controversy with my client in Delhi ( although you already see in magazines like AD India Eames chairs, a clear evidence of the growing influence of ads in the social media and the review of some traditions. One example of this is the wink I give with Lia, Ankit's dog. This was unthinkable). Assignment 12
