TASK 2.

CREATIVITY IS INTELLIGENCE HAVING FUN 72546664

For interior design, fabrics and decorative finishes have a special ability to communicate with the soul of the project through the senses, due to their shape and texture. Many times, with talent and imagination, you have to think about how you can make innovative use of traditional materials and at the same time making savings. A good interior designer is an alchemist in his business. Creative thinking is to take the resources and start playing with them and see what different things you could make that no one had ever done. As I stated in my previous assignment, the proportion and use of materials in this design is versatile. 72546664

Usage of the ceramic geometric tiles may generate attractive coverings (samples 08-11), for instance for the bar, or a wall panel in or around the service counter. An fascinating color contrast between the yellow of the velvet and the colors of the tile could also be generated behind the modular seats. We can also take one of the patterns (half black, for example) and use it as a skirting board, or use it to make a table top. Brass (sample 18), which is used in small touches (chair legs, logo, counter tops ...) to a larger degree, will give the design a more glamorous look by adding it to the handrail stairs, e.g. in conjunction with marble (sample 06).

Microtopping (sample 01) can be used both on walls and floors, as well as on surfaces such as table tops. The benches can also be upholstered in PU leather (samples 04 and 05) in one or two colours per module. Wall paint colors (samples 13 and 17) can be used in greater or lesser proportions, as a plain colour or using a pattern design such as stripes or dots, depending on the size, lighting of the space, or the effect we want to create. One of the materials that I like the most is the Drop Paper, (sample 14) which offers many possibilities and finishes, being able to use a simple design like the one chosen, in the shape of a honeycomb, or even more sophisticated ones. It was used here to hide a possible rough ceiling, which was not very pleasing to Sinsombrero 's customers, and which is very common to be found in new constructions or in properties to be renovated after the removal of ceilings. It can also be used as a window treatment to filter the light from the outside. Although Techlam Top (Sample 16) is a specific product for kitchen and bathroom worktops, it can be used both as a countertop and table surface. 72546664

In short, the possibilities are endless, and the result can be completely different according to how we combine the materials with their proportions: from a minimalist aesthetic through to the most eye-catching and luxurious; to the graphic and innovative, based on vinyl walls and ceramic graphs. Creativity does not have more limits than those imposed by the budget.

DISCLAIMER ASSIGNMENT ADAPTATIONS DUE TO CORONAVIRUS OUTBREAK Well, this text should only describe the difficulties in acquiring samples due to the constant outbreaks of COVID 19 that are appearing everywhere, but today I feel like being possessed by the spirit of insurgency and I want to raise a voice of criticism against the world and say from here that the virus can take all the blame, even those that do not concern it. Join me in the crying room.

Throughout these 20 Assignments, every time I have needed a sample, I have had to seek out suppliers from outside Spain, many times without success, as there is no sample available for what I want to include in my design. I have to say that most of the time, when it comes to fabrics or wallpapers, I have achieved approximately what I wanted. I have to admit that most of the times. The situation in Spain is changing significantly. As far as tiles are concerned: here they are still living in the 20th century, and you have to go to the retailers to beg for one (1) sample, as the manufacturers offer little to no chance to get them, if not through the dealer. I visited a number of dealers, and they told me that if I wanted a sample, I had to order it, and at least one square meter of product.

I also called Mambo Unlimited Ideas, they have two beautiful boxes containing in detail all the samples of their materials, including tiles, veneers and metals. The Chief Marketing Officer kindly advised me that this content was only available to sellers of all their goods. One of the retailers I visited also explained his reluctance to ask me for samples on the grounds of the expense of shipping the sample and the terrifying conspiracy theory to remove dealers and sell stuff on the Internet. To finally get a tile sample, I had to go 70km (140 round trip) as I had to pick it up at the central depot of the supplier. Once there, there was nothing that I had told them on the phone and they claimed to have. So in order not to lose any time, I requested a sample of whatever they had.

They noted down a couple of references on a piece of paper and referred me to the warehouseman. I returned home with two faded and scratched tiles. Epic Win. As far as wallpapers are concerned: I bought samples through the Trestintas website. First standard samples in scale A4. Good. Good. I assume I'm going to be able to appreciate them when they come (if they ever come), and even frame them and hang them in my hall. I completely understand the crisis that we are going through, and I appreciate any stance that helps protect individual and collective safety, so if you have a company and provide a web-based service, I don't think it's difficult to give your customers a alert when ordering. Since Barcelona is 500 km away, and I haven't received anything yet, although from the order I put with Kirkby Design in the UK two days before, I got a convenient notice as well as the fabrics. (Finally, it arrived this morning) . 72546664

I’ve also asked FinFloor in Santiago, and Pergo via its Spanish page for timber and laminate floor samples when I was in town visiting a dealer, and I was funny when he spoke to him about asking for samples. I don't have any news about any of the shipments. And, once again, I've been using digital support. Rather of bringing the pictures together, I wanted to take it as a 3d texture modeling exercise and create it in SketchUp + VRay. I have to admit that the velvet looks pretty fine, and the color is almost the same as the original, although the texture of the original fabric could be better, given the price of the chair. As I had to do it digitally, I wanted to add a tiny piece of rattan from the back of the chair, as well as the Microtopping board, which was my initial idea, and which I abandoned due to the difficulty of getting a sample.

I would like to think that something positive comes out of all the negatives, and that the situation will soon improve for everyone and they will gradually improve their digital sales channel. In the meantime, I will continue to manage to present tables of acceptable samples within my digital skills and as long as my CPU does not melt in the summer heat. And so far my classical drama "Papyrus and Porcelanosa fall in love in COVID's time". Thank you for attendance.
