MC The format chosen for this presentation refers to the adaptation to the current travel constraints and to the search for other ways to effectively address the s h o r t a g e o f re s o u rc e s we f a c e . Therefore, via the Zoom tool, I have chosen the online meeting method, coupled with a scene editor that enables the speaker and the presentation to be viewed in an efficient way at the same time. A set of samples would have been sent to the offices of Louis Vuitton along with a brochure containing the visual elements used in the presentation, as a complement to the presentation.

I was reading a review of Eleanor Coppola 's book on the making of "Apocalypse Now” a while ago, before I started writing these lines, and I have to confess that it made me laugh. How can 16 weeks of scheduled shooting end up lasting 15 months? In the case of Apocalypse Now, the feat is that they managed (almost) to finish all of them alive. Its director, Francis Ford Coppola, ended up joining his main character, Captain Willard, on his journey into madness: if the soldier 's mission was to hunt down Colonel Kurtz, Coppola's was to finish a film he started shooting without screenplay and without ending.He had also confessed how he had considered suicide three times over the four years of production, when everything that could go wrong went wrong. I don't want to know how I might have been faced with such a insane shoot, because I almost couldn't get a recording of less than 10 minutes, made with a cell phone, a slideshow and a group video call. In Spain we have an expression that describes very well my approach to recording. “Meterse en camisa de once varas," which means “wearing a shirt made out eleven meters of fabric”, or basically complicating one 's life. Join me in this little tale of misfortune.

MC Under the current conditions, I have decided that I must adapt to the methods used by companies to work and hold meetings. So, Zoom could be the solution. I rehearsed the presentation, trying to adjust the speed of speech to the content and the time available for 3-5 minutes. I wrote to my friends and asked them to work together as an audience. "Of course" "Great, so we're going to meet with a zoom on day X at hour X." It was time for a meeting, and there was only me. They had a lot of different (and valid) reasons why they couldn't attend the meeting. You've got to love them as they are. My next step was to try to record us at home, with my husband and son in the audience. I 'd use the TV for the slideshow and the mobile phone video. I also used a teleprompter software to interpret the script. "Great." But since English is not my mother tongue, every 30 seconds I got a tongue-tied. And, after a few attempts, my son decided it was more fun to go and create his own project with Lego. Also, when I watched the images, I found that the TV screen on which the presentation was displayed looked terrible. My husband went to the kitchen to make lunch. Because it was obvious that, at least on that day, art was not going to feed us.

Time passed, and I couldn't get my recording going. I published a post on the facebook page of the school, but nobody seemed interested in participating. So I decided to go back to the initial concept, use Zoom. I produced a meeting to which my husband, my son, and my sister were invited. My husband would communicate from work, my sister from home, and my son from the bedroom, using my mobile phone. Nothing had failed this time. Until the Deus ex machina arrived. My husband serves in a helicopter battalion. And, while he works in an office, it was not long before Zoom's audio detected the unmistakable roar of two Chinook helicopters taking off, that in three minutes they were flying over my place. I stopped the recording and we went to the start. For some reason, my sister ran out of audio during the second attempt, and we had to restart everything again. I had to hide the chat because my son was bored and talking with the participants. Everything was fine, at last. So I press the button to record and, when I was just in the middle of my speech, Amazon knocked on my door. Fig. 3 Blunt card (2016) [illustration]

I was finally able to show the project and make a satisfactory shot. But just as Question Time was about to begin, the gardeners decided that it was a wonderful day to trim all the hedges that had grown up at their whim during the lockdown time, so they took out their chainsaws and their blowers and began the show again. So I decided to quote my abnegated audience for that afternoon.

I had a nice surprise when I saw that my sister's boyfriend had joined us in this mega venture. That's how I 'd get feedback from one person more. It's perfect. So we organized a Question meeting, which content I did not know, to test my ability to communicate verbally and not verbally, and its adaptation to the public. It would be done in Spanish, and later I would add subtitles to it. At last I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, just a few more minutes. Easy, right? No, no. The unforeseeable motivation of the two dogs of my sister that wanted to take part to the video was not taken into account. And while they didn't get the lead roles they expected, they did everything in their influence to feature in the movie credits. So we made a 2nd unit for them and sent them to look for future production places in the orchard, and then we could complete the recording. Fig. 4 Dell (n.d) [photograph]

So I finished with what was intended to be a 3 to 5 minute video shoot. I have almost an hour of footage in which dogs, children, the army, sound from any conceivable helicopter, chainsaws, a box from Amazon, a lady who speaks English with a hideous accent, and stuff from Louis Vuitton appear. There haven't been the same chemical excesses that we saw in "Apocalypse Now," nor have I ever considered suicide, as did Coppola. Eventually, like him, I saved my performance in the editing room. Yet next time I'm going to recruit a whole production team. There ends my short evaluation of my skills as a filmmaker.

The end

Lessons learnt

After this introduction, which serves to place the outcome in perspective, we will evaluate the reactions. Due to the chosen mode of presentation, the video conference, I had to face not only a few technical problems, but also to get familiar with a program that was new to me in a short period of time. I've edited video before, but this time, and in order to have the best possible staging quality, I had to go deeper into the software editing domain and get started with video transmission software. I have used the broadcasting program very popular for the gamer community, which is called OBS broadcasting and which provides Zoom integration, to display the slideshow and me satisfactorily in the same way. Yet nothing is as simple as it seems, and without practice there is no perfection. It extends to the use of a teleprompter where it is important to adapt the material to the duration of the recording. You must also adjust the text to read speed and keep in mind the differences that exist in the style of the text that is meant to be read aloud in relation to one printed in the media. I was considering the time available when planning the presentation and the material. I spent nearly four minutes presenting the project effectively, as the audience values it in their feedback, trying to give as much detail as possible in a concise way. My audience appreciated the idea of sending the sample set and the file with the presentation (the sample set is a CGI image, even if I had problems with obtaining actual samples of my project materials until now, it seems like a titanic challenge in these circumstances, and even more so when we are talking about brands like Louis Vuitton). I added the question and answer section following the presentation, where the participants raised their doubts and concerns. This served to evaluate my ability to respond, my verbal and non-verbal language, and its suitability for the audience, which is not familiar with the design industry. They found my speech clear and informative, and noted I was fluent in the subject matter. They appreciated the clarifications and answers that I gave during the time for question. They also pointed out my lack of mastery of video transmission tools, and perhaps more prior organization would have been desirable to avoid all of the incidents that occurred during the recording. Although the general impression of the audience is positive, I believe that I need to develop my talk at a general level, and especially in the use of video transmission media, as it proves to be a very powerful working tool that ensures easy contact between customers and business people or between working teams when it is not feasible or productive from a logistical point of view. It is practice which leads to excellence, as in other aspects of life.
