ART
How did you come up with the idea? I've been specialising in sweet treats on a stick for a good three years now and have discovered along the way most of the design requests are detailed, intricate and time consuming to make. By the time you're finished its more a labor of love rather than making a dollar. For me, this had to change. I follow alot of different cake groups on social media and this is a huge topic within the cake industry. Not making enough money for the time that is spent on the finished product. I totally had to change this. While researching I stumbled across a few different products in the market and one day when I was bouncing ideas off to a friend of mine her words 'make your own' totally stuck in my head. It wasn't until a few months after that conversation I thought, why not? What was the lead up like to getting the product right? It was actually really fun and really interesting. I became a mad scientist for half the year. When my boys would go down for the night I would research different ingredients and learn what each of them do. Then I bought of all these crazy ingredients plus some and started playing around with each of them. Friends would come over and we’d have mad scientist nights to help develop the paint. Endless emails and phone calls to cake friends on advice and questions and learning all the background information that's required in creating a product. Before Edible Art Decorative Paint launched it was called Paint On Chocolate and within just weeks of launching it my supplier offered a new ingredient they just developed and once I tried it, I knew this was it. It was better, so much better and not only did it paint on chocolate but it changed everything, because it painted on practically anything. The paint was taken offline, a patent was filed, it was re-launched as Edible Art Decorative Paint and here we are! Who can use it? This is the beauty about this product. Anyone can use it. From the hobbyist cake decorator to the professional cake designer, the cookie artists, chocolatiers, cake pop makers and to anyone who wants to paint on food rather than a canvas. It pretty much caters for everybody. Describe yourself? I'm a wifey, a mum of two, a food lover, blogger, online store owner, recipe maker, presenter, no-bake baker and now a food paint developer. I wear a lot of hats but we only live once and I want to make sure I have no regrets in life. My thought process is; at least I tried, what's the worst thing that can happen? It doesn't work? Ok cool, learn from it and take that experience into making something else amazing. All the dots do join up at the end of it all I believe. You’ve got to create and chase your dreams. They don't just fall off trees.

PARTY INFLUENCE WITH LIFE’S LITTLE CELEBRATIONS
air My vision for the Baby Shower to relate to an "Air" theme was to include clouds, balloons and kites. To tie in the baby shower element, I brought in the “About to Pop” as it relates to both air and baby. I also wanted to make it pastel, fun and a bit quirky, with a pop of colour at the same time. There's also a subtle underlying geometric theme to it with the different shapes scattered throughout. The kites, the bright pink geometric shapes, the hexagon copper wire baskets, the painted wooden boxes, pyramid chocolates and the diamond shaped featured on the cake, all assisted in creating this look. The perfect invitation was created as it included a confetti filled balloon, contained in a box. When the box was opened the balloon “popped” out, and confetti pops were featured for the favours. Our location had textured wasll that I could hang a floating foliage installation and cookies down from it. I wanted to do this to tie in the air element as it would give a floating feeling to the look. The wall made from packing crates created the ideal backdrop for what I wanted to achieve, as it enabled me to tie, hang and float down from it. With the foliage installation, instead of making it hang down exactly the same at each end, I made it flow from one end and down on one edge to make the scene flow. And rather than having the cookies sitting on a plate they were hung down from the wall secured by fishing line. The cake board was intentionally left under the cake, as it added a bold white circle, which tied in with the clouds and the shapes, and gave extra touch of visual interest. As the different colours and textures were a feature in the look this added to the quirky feel. Handmade elements were the floating foliage installation, florals, the cloud cushion on the couch, which I made by cutting around the inside of a cushion insert and wrapping battery operated fairy lights around it. I hand painted the wooden boxes with pink paint, deliberately in two separate geometric patterns, and then painted the main box the cake sat on in solid pink to draw the eye in... WANT TO READ MORE? PARTY INFLUENCE WITH LIFE’S LITTLE CELEBRATIONS
earth Love is a celebration, a journey, a collection of thoughts and feelings. Everything on the table relates to the all important thing in life, finding your true love. Drawing from the colours and textures of the earth I created a relaxed bridal shower table. Set outside in a gorgeous courtyard, the table was laid with an eclectic mix of display stands and platters incorporating natural elements such as stone, wood, paper and metal. Upon the display sat proudly the beautiful desserts in shades of greens, greys and sandy whites. The earthy tones on the table are contrasted by pretty floral arrangements featuring orange and peach. Guests could take home party favours created in little glass bottles, labelled and filled with organic tea. Hand painted leaves and feathers scattered around the table symbolising items in life that may have been collected or walked over on the path to find that one true love... WANT TO READ MORE? fire Inspired by fiery young hearts in love, this engagement party had a light-hearted, modern and playful feel to it. The colour scheme was inspired by the colours of a blazing flame including lots of red, orange and yellow set against a clean white background to highlight the fiery colours. The handmade invitation and backdrop inspired by word search puzzle added the fun and frisky touch to the set up. The theme was brought to life with lots of red hearts and elements of fire on the table including heart shaped macarons and cookies, mini dessert cups with hearts on them whilst the cake and cupcakes represented fire. An engagement celebration wouldn’t be complete without a little bubbly and berry, which was also featured on the table. The jumbo red balloons with the fiery tails completed the set up with a fun and happy note... WANT TO READ MORE? BUY THIS ISSUE OR SUBSCRIBE FOR A YEAR

water What better way to celebrate a water theme than through the carefree joy of being at the beach. This enabled the little ones to just be; running in the sand, collecting shells by the bucket full, splashing in the waves, eating crab stick cookies and more. We chose an Under the Sea theme to represent water and used countless amazing elements such as the hand crafted lemonade stand and rustic timber stand. Every other element was hand chosen to coordinate with the stunning water theme. The flower garlands were in the colours of aqua, purple and gold. The feather head-dress pieces were handmade and the pop of colour in these completed the little ones matching outfits. Octopus tops for the boys and mermaid tutus for the girls were the outfits for the day and the kids loved that they had something special to wear, it really brought the whole look and feel together. The stunning seaside themed cake smelt simply amazing. No party is complete without balloons and these two gorgeous balloons set the scene, and all around knew we were celebrating... A call out on some local Facebook pages found me the original school desks used as the dessert tables.
