Since our last edition of Kiss the Bride magazine a few things have happened; my best friend was married in Fiji who I was a bridesmaid for, my brother and his gorgeous (now) wife were married in Melbourne, a beautiful friend of mine married her soul mate under a tree overlooking Watsons Bay and I gave birth to an adorable baby boy. It has made me look around at everyone I know and wonder what makes them happy. The answer is LOVE. It’s not the house you live in or the car you drive, it is simply LOVE. Within the pages of this magazine LOVE is everywhere. Real couples sharing their happiness and joy with you. Showing you what they did on their special day to make it unique to them.

{How we met} We were set up on a blind date by mutual friends. {First date}Â John took me to a Greek restaurant in North Perth, good food and lots of atmosphere with belly dancers and waiters smashing plates. The night ended with us both realising we had a strong connection and could see us spending our lives together. {Proposal} We purchased a new town

He asked me to get the champagne from the esky, when I opened up the esky sitting next to the champagne was a ring box with my beautiful engagement ring inside. {Rings}Â My engagement ring is white gold with a marquise diamond in the centre, it

also has five brilliant cut diamonds either side which sit in the band. {Hen’s & Buck’s} I had a Turkish enthused hens night party at my best friend’s house, we got the idea due to my dad being Turkish. The night was hosted by my bridesmaids; Jess, Megan and Rosa. They turned my best friend’s house into a palace with curtains draped from the ceiling and blinged up pillows throughout. We had fresh Turkish food which my Uncle and Auntie provided, lots of cocktails including Turkish delight cocktails. A waiter dressed up in an Aladdin outfit, a stripper and three fantastic belly dancers, which included my Auntie who showed us all how to move. The buck’s night was a party which included good food, lots of drinks, blow up dolls, topless waitresses and strippers. {Theme} The theme was vintage inspired;
I wanted my bridesmaids and I to look like old Hollywood glamour. {Gown} My wedding dress had silk underlay with see through chiffon gathering on top. It had chiffon flowers which were a light beige/pink colour scattered all over it. Some of the flowers were underneath the chiffon overlay and some were on top so they looked like they were coming out of the dress. {Planning} My husband was great with helping me with every aspect of the planning process. My bridesmaids, my mother and mother in-law also helped. The planning process can be stressful at times but it is all worth it as the day ends up being the best day of your life for both of you.

{Menu} Classic antipasto entree, seafood risotto with shellfish oil, duo of herb crusted lamb rack and chicken stuffed with Prosciutto and Fontina Cheese, raspberry Semifreddo and Limón cello Liqueur to finish. {Decor} Centrepieces were in a martini vase which was filled with pearls at the bottom with six large honeymoon roses floating on the top. They surrounded a floating candle. The bridal table had three round low vases full of honeymoon roses and six crystal candle holders placed across the front of the table. {Flowers} In my bouquet I had Peony roses with a few Honeymoon rose’s scattered throughout. The bridesmaids had Honeymoon roses in their bouquets.
{Honeymoon} We had a three and a half week honeymoon; two weeks in Cyprus, four days in Istanbul, and we spent seven days in England; Eastbourne and London. {Number of Guests} 120

{How we met} Kris and I met at university whilst both doing our Psychology degrees. Apparently I was a little flirtatious and kept making eyes at him across the lecture theatre. We met up at the library a few times to study together and the rest, as they say, is history. {Proposal} Kris took me back to the first place we ever went away to together, a lovely B&B in Singleton. The proposal happened as we were sitting side by side in the lounge room reading and chatting and looking out at the lovely sea views. It was a very emotional moment for us both and I was absolutely surprised and giddy. {Rings} A beautiful round, brilliant cut diamond set amongst pave set, round, brilliant diamonds on the shoulder and sides in white gold. {Hen’s & Buck’s} I had a cocktail party with the girls and Kris went paintballing followed by an afternoon and evening of drinks and pub food.

{Planning} My maid of honour, mum, mother-in-law and Kris helped for the entire process, with a lot of support from our wedding coordinator, Faith Nichols. I organised and ‘shortlisted’ the various options and the groom attending meetings as directed by me so that we could make the final decisions together. {Theme} A touch of vintage and old glamour with our own unique twist. {Gown} A vintage inspired A-Line gown in Magnolia Dupion Silk featuring fine Chantilly lace hand appliqued and beaded to a ruched bodice with a beautifully designed lace and beaded underskirt. {First dance} Like only a woman can, Brian McFadden.

{How we met} We had known each other as friends for about ten years. We both went overseas for a few years and re-met a few years ago at a friend’s BBQ.
a lesson of pole dancing and then back to the Brisbane for a big night out.. Andrew celebrated with friends at Ascot races and finished in the early hours at the Burswood casino.
{First date } Andrew picked me up on his motorbike and we went to Cottesloe for a romantic dinner at Barchetta.
{Inspiration} To have a fun and unforgettable wedding full of love and magic that we could share with our closest friends and family. We wanted a simple but classy wedding that was magic and lots of fun.
{Proposal} After asking my parents for their blessing Andrew proposed on one knee with my Nan’s engagement ring. {Rings} A gold ring with a single solitary diamond. The wedding band is gold with a channel of diamonds. {Hen’s & Buck’s} All the girls met at the Brisbane Hotel for some drinks before having
{Gown} The wedding dress is a Seraphina gown by Maggie Sottero. It is a soft flowing ivory, grecian style wedding dress. The gown is made from chiffon with an empire line with heavy beading under the bust going around to a deep v on the back at the waist. There is also beading on the shoulders.

{First dance} Groovy Kind of Love by Phil Collins {Decor} The decorations were classy and traditional with a soft golden theme. The bridal table had a white drape with a cream patterned runner down the centre. At the end of the table were two large hurricane lanterns with rose petals and candles. The bouquets were used as table centrepieces with creamy candle tea lights between. The guest tables had a cream patterned runner with creamy candle tea lights and a vase with a simple native flower. The chairs were dressed with white covers and golden sashes. {Flowers} The bridal bouquet was a bright bunch of Peonies in various shades of pinks. The bridesmaid’s posies were a smaller, simpler bunch of Peonies in pale and soft coloured pinks. The bouquets matched the bridesmaid dresses perfectly. The buttonholes and corsages coordinated with the bridesmaid’s dresses and the girls posies. The bridal table centrepieces were the bouquets set in vases with cream candles placed in between. The guests tables featured a native flower, set within a vase for the centrepiece. {Honeymoon} Europe. {Number of Guests} 75 {Cost} $20,000

{How we met} I first saw Troy at the pharmacy in Margaret River where I was doing my training. He was picking up his Grandma’s prescription. I saw him again on the school oval surrounded by a group of kids he was teaching, it was so cute. I didn’t speak to him until I actually met him on New Year’s Day at Perth Cup. {First date} Troy took me on a sunset cruise down the Blackwood River on his boat with wine and a picnic. We couldn’t stop laughing after Troy realised he forgot the keys and we floated aimlessly down the river. {Proposal} We were on holidays in Sydney and Troy organised a day of pampering followed by a trip to Jonah’s. We were relaxing in our room after a romantic dinner when the blinds started rolling up revealing four stacked boxes on the balcony labelled ‘Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue’. Each box had something special in it that was old, new or borrowed and in the last ‘Something Blue’ package was a Tiffany’s box with my engagement ring. Troy then got down on one knee and proposed. {Rings} Round brilliant diamond with five smaller diamonds on each side in a platinum band. {Hen’s & Buck’s} I had a weekend with the girls at Bunker Bay Resort playing silly games, making yummy cocktails and pizza, and a winery tour around Margaret River. The boys went on a trip to Hamelin Bay beach shacks with a weekend of beers, fishing and beach cricket {Planning} Troy and I planned and made decisions together, but I usually had the final say. And my family were the best, whenever I went for visits to Perth or Sydney they followed me everywhere, even when I wanted to look in every shop and try on every dress. One of the most exciting parts was picking up my finished wedding dress. Troy loved choosing the menu. It was stressful being so far away up north and trying to pick things out from the internet without being able to see them in person. {Inspiration} I had a million magazines that I looked through for inspiration, there were so many beautiful ideas making, it very hard to stick to a budget.

{Gown} I had a white, silk dress fitted to below the waist then flowing to my feet and a train at the back. The straps were slightly asymmetrical dotted with diamantes and crystals and the sweetheart neckline featured a big flower detail in the middle. The same flower detail was used on the skirt and on the back of the gown.

{Flowers} My bouquet was a cascade teardrop shaped bouquet created from soft lilac and pink roses, cream Lisianthus and Freesias throughout.

{How we met} We met at the Onyx Bar in April 2006 through my friend. We got along really well and had a lot of fun dancing the night away. John told me later on in the relationship that after the first night we met, he knew I was the one for him. {First date} We went to Oriel Cafe in Subiaco for a coffee. We both felt very comfortable with each other and spent ages chatting, it felt like we had known each other for ages. It was simple but sweet. {Proposal} John wanted to make me lunch and propose, but his plan backfired so he took me to the DNA tower at Kings Park but it was packed with people. So he proposed in the car! Later he took me out for lunch and dropped the ring in my glass.

{Rings} My ring is yellow gold, with one round brilliant cut diamond in a six claw white gold collet. Eight round diamonds are channel set, four on each side into the band. {Hen’s & Bucks’s} I had a lovely dinner with my family and the boys enjoyed a great meal at Sirocco at the Burswood, followed by a little gambling at the casino They then went to Minq Bar, Eve nightclub and a 5am trip to China Town for some traditional Chinese food. {Planning} My wonderful mum helped with most of the planning. She also made my veil and a gorgeous pink dress for me to change into at the end of the reception. The most exciting part was when I brought my dress home and tried everything on, Trying to get everything finished by the deadline was
stressful. Especially on the night before the wedding I was finalising everything and I didn’t get to bed till quite late. {Inspiration} Making my dream wedding come true. {Theme} Butterflies and Spring. {Gown} It is princess style made from silk with a sweetheart bodice with crystal beading and a full skirt with eight layers. The top layer of tulle was crystal tulle making it sparkle. {First dance} We had a surprise dance. It started off with Ronan Keating’s When You Say Nothing At All, There was a planned disk scratch and it cut to Beyonce & Jay Z’s Crazy in Love. We choreographed a fun dance and surprised everyone, it was awesome and
everyone was cheering. {Decor} Pink butterfly name tags sat on the rim of the champagne glasses and placeholders. There were pretty flower centrepieces, white chair covers and bows. A beautiful flower arrangement was sent by my God-parents to decorate the gift table. Delicate hand-made pink flowers sat on the bombonniere. {Flowers} A colourful mixture of tulips, roses, Baby’s Breath, Singapore Orchids and Lisianthus. {Honeymoon} We went down south for a couple of days. Our proper holiday is currently being planned. {Cost} $35,000

{How we met} We were introduced through a mutual friend (who was one of the best men) on the Oak lawn at UWA in our first year of University, 1996. {First date} We had known each other for ten years before we started to see each other so our first date was quite nerve racking. Adam came to my unit in Cottesloe and we walked to Barchetta Restaurant. On the way I suggested we stop at the OBH for a quick drink and we had a shot of tequila, reminiscent of our uni days. From then on it was a great night. {Proposal} We were sitting on the back of Adam’s family’s yacht near the west end of Rottnest. The sun was about to set and he told me he had a present. I thought it was a (very small) dive watch but it was a loose diamond. I though it was a pretty impressive present and it was only when he proposed that I realised what was happening. Apparently he first went looking for a ring a year before he proposed but was overwhelmed with the choice of ring settings so he decided to propose with a loose diamond. {Rings}: Single round brilliant solitaire with four claws in white gold. {Family’s reaction} My sister’s, Alanna and Nicole, were one of the standouts. I called with the

news and they were both together and when I said “great, now I can tell you both at the same time”, Alanna had put me on speaker phone and without me telling the news they guessed and all I heard was screaming. {Hen’s & Buck’s} Organised by my sisters and my best friend Vickie. It started with a respectable lunch for 30 girls at the Blue Duck in Cottesloe. We were then bussed to my mother’s house in Swanbourne where I had to change into my outfit (skimpy sailor girl) for some games and other entertainment. The last ones standing headed to the Sapphire Bar. Close friends took Adam diving and surfing at Rottnest for the day. The night was a party held at one of the groomsman’s houses. There was drinking and entertainment and novel ways of consuming tequila. Adam had to wear a horrible op shop dress the whole day including walking

through the settlement in Rottnest. {Planning} It was a short engagement (three months) so I had help from Adam, my mum, sisters, best friends, Adam’s mum and his sister. The most stressful part was making the first decision which for us was choosing the venue and date. After that everything fell into place. {Inspiration} Wanting it to be a great party and to ensure our guests had a great time. {Gown} Thai silk fitted gown with a fishtail and small train with lace and pleated silk on the straps and bodice. {First dance} Bella by Angus and Julia Stone. {Menu} Champagne was the key ingredient. There were also canapés for entree, rack of lamb or fish for main and delicious mini deserts as well as wedding cake. {Decor} A framed photograph of my Dad who
{Flowers} My bouquet had white and green roses, Hydrangeas and Phalaenopsis orchids. The bridesmaids had mauve roses and the bridal table also had the mauve roses. Each guest table had a tall cone vase filled with white orchids. {Honeymoon} Two weeks through the Kimberley. Highlights included staying with friends at Cygnet Bay Pearl farm and exploring the uninhabited islands, the coastline and El Questro Homestead. {Cost:} $40,000

{How we met} We bumped into each other at the Brisbane Hotel in Highgate.
Hotel and Llama Bar. The guys played pool and had a house party with girls serving drinks.
{Proposal} Glen had the ring in his pocket and had booked a hotel room for the night. He was acting very strange and insisted we go for a walk along the beach, immediately. He proposed at the same place he said I love you for the first time and had booked a romantic dinner at Attivo where we celebrated with champagne.
{Planning} It was a combined effort between myself and Glen which was great because I am away a lot for work. We found the seating allocation to be the most stressful thing to organise but picking up our wedding rings a few days before was very exciting. We loved planning our honeymoon too.
{Rings} A marquee diamond, encrusted with smaller diamonds around it with more diamonds in the white gold band. {Hen’s & Buck’s} We went on a boat cruise for dinner and then had drinks at the Subiaco
{Theme} Soft pink, white and silver. {Gown} My gown was ordered in from Spain and made from off white silk chiffon, encrusted with crystals and beading in the bodice. It was one shouldered with a small ruched cap sleeve. It had a long

So much planning goes into one day quickly. Make sure you enjoy every
train which came from the top of the one shouldered piece. It was very soft and flowing and Grecian style. {First dance} Fields of Gold by Sting. {Decor} Acqua Viva has a beautiful dining room with high back Italian white chairs and a view of the river so we didn’t want to overdo it with flowers and decorations. The bridal table had small tin vases with pink roses and tea light candles in between. Guest

tables had a round silver mirror underneath fish bowls filled with roses and Lisianthus in pink and white with greenery. Smaller fish bowls with tea light candles were placed around the mirror. {Flowers} My bouquet had soft pink Finesse roses with soft feathers underneath. and fun wedding that reflected our relationship and lives together. We had our family and best mates to share it with us which made it the best night of our lives.
{Planning} We did most of it ourselves. Our families were also a great help. Both of us were involved in making the important decisions and we made sure our wedding was casual enough that it didn’t cause us any stress.
{Gown} A simple ivory, strapless gown made from raw silk.
{Inspiration} We knew what we wanted; a casual, honest
{First dance} In My Wildest Dreams by Moody Blues. {Menu} We had a cocktail menu with freshly shucked oysters and amazing wine and champagne from Upper Reach Winery.

{Decor} We kept things simple and natural. We had several vases with posies of white flowers and photos of each of our parents on their wedding day. We also gave out clusters of wheat in memory of my father.

{How we met} We met at the Yerecoin Tavern through a mutual friend. It was an end of harvest celebration for people who’d worked on the wheat bins for farmers and anyone from around the area. {Proposal} He proposed on the farm, where we had our wedding. We went to the highest point with a beautiful sunset. He had made a platter and we had beers to celebrate. {Rings} A round brilliant cut diamond with a baguette cut diamond on either side with then three round brilliant diamonds each side of the baguette diamonds. {Hen’s & Buck’s} We had a bus trip from Moora to the New Norcia Hotel for dinner. Then a detour on the way home to the Yerecoin Tavern for more drinks and dancing. The guys had a get together at the local race course, no horses were racing that day though.
{Inspiration} The farm probably inspired us the most. We used wheat throughout the wedding, from the table names to the gifts for guests. {Gown} Pure white sweetheart neckline with a beaded bodice. There were rosettes on the skirt and train. {First Dance} Love Serenade by The Waifs. {Decor} We had a circle of homemade jams and pickles around the wheat centerpieces. We also gave embroidered wheat-packs to our guests along with the jams. {Flowers} Roses, Lisianthus and wheat for the bouquets. Roses and wheat were used in the corsages too. {Honeymoon} We stayed at Lomani Resort in Fiji for ten days. {Number of guests} 140
{Planning} Nigel from BBB Caters was a great help as he supplied most things, he had really good ideas of what would work. Clint and I made all decisions together after I had put together the ideas. The hardest part of the wedding was holding it in a paddock with no running water or electricity.

{How we met} We met through mutual friends and lived as neighbours {First date} We went to the Old Swan Brewery and had a fabulous time; oyster shooters ,great views - very special. {Proposal} We had a lovely dinner at Meads at Mosmon Bay. After dinner we walked along the foreshore where we sat on a park bench and then Brett got down on one knee - was very traditional. {Rings} Brett’s is a two tone swivel ring; a 9ct base with a white gold centre that moves when touched. My ring is a two tone crossover base set in 18ct white gold and 18ct gold with baguette diamonds running through them. It has a one carat marquise diamond set on top as the centre piece. {Hen’s & Buck’s} The hens went to The Queens, starting with dinner and a few embarrasing games, then moved onto The Brisbane and then The Devils Pad. The bucks started at The Mighty Quinn pub in Yokine, then had a limousine drive them around town and to some other pubs.

{Planning} My wonderful mum helped alot but it was quite hard organising a wedding on an island with a co-ordinator who I didn’t have much faith in. {Gown} An elegant ivory halterneck dress with a marquise shape in the centre of the chest with Swarovski crystals. {First dance} Once In A Lifetime by Keith Urban. {Menu} A delicious buffet. {Decor} We used gold and white, the table had a runner of gold organza that was covered in shells, it looked was beautiful and set the theme. We used starfish through the stationery. {Flowers} Singapore orchids, (mini) babys breathe and white lilies as centrepieces. {Honeymoon} Hamilton Island for four days with our family and friends then Sydney for three days. {Cost} $15,000
