Please don’t forget to sponsor Omer and help him achieve victory ! Also you can read all about our most recent Eliminate dance, and how much money we raised, as well as how many donations we collected. For those of you attending DCON, I have also included some information on the DCON talent show! I would like everyone to read up on the DCON contests packet. Even if you do not attend DCON, I am requiring a submission from every club! As always, watch for posts on our Facebook group for information regarding an upcoming social event. Sincerely,

DISTRICT WIDE ELIMINATE GAMES March 16 [Saturday] 2PM Piscataway High School 100 Behmer Rd Piscataway Township, NJ 08854

Come cheer on our tribute Omer Tahir in a series of Minute to Win It style games. One tribute has been chosen from each other respective division, and all of them will go head to head on March 16th in the District-wide Games. We need as much support as we can get to cheer Omer onto fame. If students cannot attend, ask them to donate to the Eliminate Project.

For every 5 tickets we sell, Omer gains a 3 second advantage. Each ticket is $5. Whether the 5 people attend the games or not, the money is still added to his total. As of now Omer has raised $15 on his own, at the Eliminate Dance. If you have any questions about this process please contact me.

SWEETHEARTS DANCE RECAP

SWEETHEARTS DANCE RECAP On February 15th, Division 15 held its second dance of the 20122013 service year. Being that is was the day after valentines day, the dance was sweetly themed, and included a chocolate fountain and a dessert bar full of great candy. There was a great buffet, a DJ, and the venue was as always, beautiful. Gifts were given out to the best dancers of the night.. At the end of the event the division raised $310 for the Eliminate

project and collected over 100 cans for the local homeless shelters. Part of the donations went to the Perc shelter in Union City and the majority went to St. Lucy’s Shelter in Jersey City. Thank you to all of the officers from McNair, Dickinson, County Prep, and Union City that came early to help set up. Special thanks to our elect Hamiyyet for getting us a great supply of candy for our sweet bar !

DCON Talent Show By Joe Toumanios

The 67 Annual New Jersey District Convention is coming up, which means you have a chance to show off your amazing hobbies, talents, or skills! Anyone and everyone can audition! There are a few rules while performing: 1. No act may exceed 6 minutes. 2. You MUST provide your own resources, e.g. CDs, props, iPods, instruments, juggling equipment, cannonballs, etc. 3. Any singing routines must have their song without the lyrics on CD (unless you are playing an instrument as well), but must have a copy of the lyrics for the judges. 4. All ask must be appropriate, not offensive, illicit, etc. th

Any talents are encouraged to audition, not just singers/dancers/ instrumentalists!" If you have a crazy talent, come show it off! Fame has to start somewhere! If you have any questions, please contact Joseph Toumanios at TreasurerToumanios@gmail.com.

What’s New in Jersey? My name is Hamiyyet Bilgi and I am proud to say that I will be serving on the New Jersey District Board as Lieutenant Governor of Division 15 for the 2013-2014 service year. I am currently a junior at County Prep High School where I have served as club president for the past two years. I can still recall the day when a friend of mine first introduced me to Key Club during my first few days at County Prep. Ever since joining Key Club I knew it would be somewhere where I would want to spend my high school days and have the most memories with. I eagerly await meeting all of you in the near future and I hope we will have a service year that will be just as rewarding, fun, and memorable as this year!

Snyder Celebrates Women Our newest club at Snyder High School would like to invite all Key Club members from throughout the division to their Women’s History event this coming March. Attendees will hear the experiences of some of the most influential women in our division, and can enjoy refreshments after. Please let LTG Melika know if you’d like to attend, and meet your fellow Key Clubbers at Snyder! March 14, from 4:00-6:00PM Snyder High School

Annual Achievement Report Form Before District Convention (April 5-April 7), all clubs are required to fill out an annual achievement report form. It may seem like a lot to stress over but don’t worry; it is just an extended Club Monthly Report Form. This form will inform us how your club has done in the past service year and help us assess the strengths and weaknesses of your club. If a club fails to fill out this form on time, they will be disqualified from all con-

tests, awards, and scholarships. A club cannot attend DCON without having filled out this document. Even if you are not sending any delegates, the form is mandatory! The Annual Achievement Report form was sent to you all as an attachment to the last newsletter email.

DCON Once you have your dues in, your annual achievement report form completed, and your DCON registration packet filled out, you are ready to attend DCON ! I hope you are all able to send at least two delegates to convention this year, with all of the fundraising you have done over the course of the past few months. In preparation for DCON, each club is required to participate in a DCON contest. Contests include essays, speeches, scrapbooks, and even posters. Pick a contest Our Division at DCON last year ! that you think demonstrates your club’s strengths. There are also awards you can apply for, that award prizes to clubs based on their service projects and fundraising, with respect to the size of their club. Please research all that you can regarding the contest process so you can attend DCON and be a winner as well ! There is one last thing I would like to tell you all about DCON this year. We have always known it as District Convention, but this year we are opting to formally call it the District Education and Leadership Conference. We feel this better communicates the educational aspects of convention. So formally, it is the District Education and Leadership Conference, but in short it will always be DCON. Don’t forget to find an advisor from your school to attend DCON with you !

Sergeant at Arms DCON Dress Code Hey Key Clubbers! For DCON, during the sessions, workshops and meals, all attendees must be dressed in business attire. For girls, skirts/ dress must be at least finger tipped length, a dress shirt, no flip flops, no low cut shirts, no shorts, no see through anything, for example lace shirts. We recommended not to wear heels, you will be walking around a lot. For boys, they must wear slacks, a dress shirt, dress shoes, and a tie. Like last year we will be having our tie sale. Business colors usually consist of black and white, if you really want to go all out. If you are caught breaking the dress code, you will be asked to return to your room and change. But fear not, there will be times when you can wear casual attire.

Curfew All attendees must fallow the schedule given to them when they arrive. This includes attending all sessions, some workshops, and being back in their room by 12 am! The sergeant at arms committee will be checking all rooms. If any of the rules are broken your parents will be contacted and you will be sent home.
