london contemporary home
the vision
"To create a luxury bespoke contemporary home that is recognised for its outstanding quality and delivery of the highest levels of comfort, craftsmanship and inventiveness. A home that is synonymous for its “englishness and the Veyron Brand. A Veyron Home
english home aesthetic
Whilst the traditional English home aesthetic may differ from a recognised contemporary style, a modern interpretation can be achieved. Veyron’s desire is to integrate modern fabrication methods, an environmentally conscious design approach, and cutting edge technology with high quality and carefully crafted details and traditional materials to create the warmth and layered texture of an English home in a contemporary style. To create a home which is open and intimate, modern yet traditional, transparent yet cosy and tailor made yet flexible.
defined by englishness
THE VEYRON EXPERIENCE To experience a Veyron home is to experience the distinct and desirable English characteristics which run through the design from its initial concept to the smallest of details.

environment
Natural light and shade, the sun, the sylvan wooded settings will all be carefully reviewed to create stunning internal and external spaces through orientation of built form and careful location of interior and exterior spaces. The controlled play of sunlight and shadow throughout the day, whether dappled or defined, will animate the interior spaces and create an ever changing canvas that will mark the passing seasons.
the veyron elements
Great residential design is best approached by thinking about how to create a series of experiences which surprise, delight, soothe and even inspire those who use them. Those experiences might also be considered as providing the desired opportunities for impact, drama and “wow”. The following pages show a series of design features “ingredients” which will stimulate the emotions and experiences referred to above. Ingredients which heighten the experience of living in a Veyron home.
ENGLISHNESS
‘WOW’ FACTORS
CONSIDERED DESIGN
the reveal
The anticipation of seeing the building for the first time. A site-specific opportunity, where the house is glimpsed between and framed by external features. The use of planting and screening, or a winding approach, slowly revealing the house. A solid boundary wall and beautifully designed entrance gate all enhancing the reveal.
the arrival
Your arrival at the entrance by foot and be vehicle should be an exciting experience. As with the ‘reveal’ of the house, a solid, imposing and oversized door but with transparency either side to glimpse the spaces beyond, and create an opportunity to heighten the anticipation and curiosity of what is within.
the english garden wall
A classic architectural device used to enclose private outdoor spaces, such as enclosed rose gardens, vegetable or kitchen gardens, croquet lawns and games courts, and separate those private outdoor spaces from those that are more ‘public’. A feature that leads you from the garden to the entrance. A modern interpretation where the wall leads you through the house and into the private and secluded spaces beyond. The material and detailing should be chosen to age well and to create texture and character.
the entrance
The grand entrance gives the opportunity to create drama upon entering the property through height, volume, space and light‌..the initial internal impact. Views through to the upper floors, bridge links and galleries providing visual connectivity.
vistas
Views narrowing down and opening up through the house at key locations, revealing a series of views to the outside spaces of varying distances, from the intimate and immediate to the distant, the latter depending upon the site and topography. Double aspect views allowing you to experience different external spaces from within the building.
extended lines
Boundaries between inside and outside spaces are blurred through the continuation of internal lines to exterior spaces and visa versa, and by the continuation of floor and wall surface treatments. Outdoor rooms defined by floor, wall and cornice geometries further blur the inside and outside boundaries.
the fireplace
The hearth and heart of the home, located in position that is a natural focal point which also allows those enjoying it to view the garden outside, the place around which to gather on cold winters evenings.
changing spaces
The ability to enjoy cosy, ‘enclosed’ rooms, or to throw wide open the floor plan to allow expansive views of both the interior of the house and of the garden, from wherever you might be in the main living space. This flexibility is achieved through large sliding pocket doors between the main living spaces, and by the careful location of primary structure.
tranquil places
The gardens, external landscaping and outdoor rooms will between them provide a range of different experiences, one of which is a tranquil spot, away from the ‘main’ garden, outdoor dining areas and social areas, and sheltered from prevailing winds. This is the modern rose garden, somewhere to have a quiet cup of tea and gather your thoughts.
visual connectivity
The ability to be sit in one part of the house and to look across the garden and into to another part of the house. To see ‘life going on’ around the house, to enjoy its bustle but perhaps from a remote sanctuary.
the site
A sylvan plot with generous gardens and mature trees, entered from its western boundary.
the wall
PUBLIC
The English Garden Wall used as the primary separation between the public outdoor areas of driveway and approach to front door, and the more private internal and external spaces of the house and its gardens.
PRIVATE
ground floor - living
The primary reception spaces of living, dining, kitchen, breakfast and family rooms and the pool.
first floor - sleeping
The sleeping accommodation, gymnasium and office, all on the upper floor and away from the bustle of the ground floor activity
the cantilever
The west end of the first floor box cantilevers dramatically out over the approach to the garage, to create the main entrance hall and provide shelter to the front door.
light and shade
Sunlight in the right places at the right times of day, achieved through the careful location of internal and external spaces; eastern sunlight for the master bedroom and ensuite, the pool and the breakfast room; mid-day and evening sunlight to the cir
