The Peculiar and Curious Drought Written By Melissa C. Pointer Special Thanks to Sister Marjorie and her testimony about the winter season Saturday, December 29, 12

Drought We have all seen droughts on television, read about them in text books and may have been exposed to them in some form in our lives. However that is not the drought I want to discuss today. The drought I would like to speak about is the spiritual type and though many would deny its existence it has manifested itself in a multitude of ways.

Amos 8: 11-12. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it]. This drought is not a lack of water but the removal of God’s Spirit from the sons of men. We have known for some time that there has been decreasing morality in this nation. However it seems that there has been a definite uptick in corruption. What is truly curious is how common good is even being removed. It should be noted that common good enables us to occupy until God comes and has some basic guidelines that help sustain society. There were previous eras that common good was greatly diminished: the time of Lot and Noah. We read in black and white how Lot was tormented by the actions of the Sodomites and that violence was so intense during Noah’s time that God flooded the earth. Seeing and hearing it in real time is different than reading about it. Saturday, December 29, 12

I can write about winter in detail and give it to someone who has never experienced snow a day in their life. They can know that the trees lose their leaves, the air becomes colder, the sky is gray and white fluffy crystals fall from the sky. However you do not truly know cold until it cuts through your bones. You cannot understand snow until you clean it off of your car, shovel it from your drive way, hear how it sound proofs the area you are in or taste it on your tongue. This is why people from warmer climates are amazed by the northern winter and unprepared on how to respond to it.

Now brethren we have been reading the Word of God repeatedly the moment we were converted. We have been waiting and have been watching for the season. We read about Sodom and Gommorah. However it is different when you see men in stores for women using things that pertain to women only. It is also different when you see sodomites at work with you, in your classrooms and serving you at restaurants. When you have to hear about their relationships or what they want to wear and you cannot rail against it. Why? Because you will lose your job. You know you must bridle your tongue because the leader of the free world is now for their marriage and those who speak against it are ostracized.

We seem to be entering a new age of violence or violence that is now being uncovered. There was a case in India (now considered to be the 4th worst place for a women to live in) where a woman was attacked in the form that occurred during Israel of old. When a concubine was ravished until her death. Violence has reached levels that were seen in Israel of old (when the Levite’s concubine was continually ravished to her death in the tribe of Benjamin). The details of the attack are so gristly it is amazing the men involved were not killed. Saturday, December 29, 12

“Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence. Psalms 91:3 When I have read Psalms 91; I did not realize how complete it was. I A fowler is a hunter that takes or kills for food. That is not the prey this scripture is referring to and the event of this year manifest that. What else can you say about a mad man that came into a movie theater clad in tactical gear and sprayed bullets at movie goers. How about the elementary children that were slaughtered recently and firefighters and police were shot down by a sniper this week. Apparently the suspect purposely started a fire and lied in wait for the emergency personnel. The individuals who killed the children and the emergency personnel killed themselves as well.

When I recently read Zechariah 11:6, it dawned on me after reviewing what many leaders have said the scope of those words: Zechariah 11: 6 For I will no more pity the inhabitants of the land, saith the LORD: but, lo, I will deliver the men every one into his neighbour's hand, and into the hand of his king: and they shall smite the land, and out of their hand I will not deliver [them].

"I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there." — Mitt Romney (January 2012)

“Last week, we worked on some welfare reform bills. And here, it’s kind of ironic, I’ll read you this little funny clip that we got from a friend. It says, ‘Isn’t it ironic that the food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever. Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to please not feed the animals, because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.” ~Minnesota State Rep. Mary Franson, comparing the poor to wild animals.

“What I tried to say, and I think it’s fascinating because Joe Klein reminded me that this started with an article that he wrote twenty years ago. New York City pays their janitors an absurd amount of money because of the union. You could take one janitor and hire thirty some kids to work in the school for the price of one janitor, and those thirty kids would be a lot less likely to drop out They would actually have money in their pocket. They’d learn to show up for work. They could do light janitorial duty. They could work in cafeteria. They could work in the front office. They could work in the library. They’d be getting money which is a good thing if you are poor. Only the elites despise earning money.” Gingrich’s dream of legalized child labor is morally reprehensible, and the Republican debate audience loved it. Their standing ovation spoke volumes about the kind of America they want to see, and specifically the color they want back in power. Saturday, December 29, 12

Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia, signaling that Republicans may revive last year's battles over offsets to disaster aid relief, says he expects that any package to help Northeast states hit by the superstorm Sandy will have to including matching cuts in spending elsewhere in the federal budget. "We always help communities during disasters," he said Wednesday after having met earlier in the day with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who is pushing for quick passage of an aid package. "The difference you have got now is that it is going to have to be offset." Saturday, December 29, 12

In the past God gave the sons of men Wisdom to govern the land and they even had access to Divine good. However they rejected God and called him a liar. They said he does not exist and that his laws were irrelevant, boring and even unfair. In some cases they just made up laws that did not exist in the bible but used Jesus’s name to justify them. Don’t believe me; let us review what many have said: "In the case of the Second Amendment, the founding fathers didn't call it the right to keep and bear arms the way it is written, they called it the biblical right of self-defense," said Barton. Where Was God in Newtown?

"I saw a bumper sticker once that said, 'God is good. Evil is real. And God is all powerful. Pick two,'

Religion has never been rational but, in an enlightened age, people must demand that it follow some logic. One must then also believe that God is unfair, unjust, inefficient, and more bloodthirsty than ever. And one must believe that injustice and the sacrificing of innocent lives is the essence of holiness.

“We dedicate our lives to fostering faith and compassion, and we work daily to promote justice and fairness for all, the leaders wrote in the letter, which was released Sunday. “Standing on these beliefs, we think that it is morally just to grant equal opportunities and responsibilities to loving, committed same-sex couples. Many of the 260 Christian and Jewish leaders who signed the letter said they had long supported same-sex marriage and were excited to make their views more public.

"even when life begins in that horrible situation of rape, that is something that God intended to happen. Saturday, December 29, 12

It is true that common good, though wonderful, is not complete. It does not have the ability to bring you into perfection and without being accompanied with divine love it is quickly corrupted by Satan. In this drought even the common good is drying up quickly. When we see the troubles in the West Window we must remember that God will be with us. In order to truly abide under his shadow we must keep his laws. Saturday, December 29, 12
