WESLEY CURTIN FOOTBALL CLUB

PINK TIGER DAY FUNDRAISER

A day of ladies, drinks, good food, good company and a chance to raise much needed funds for the McGrath Foundation.5

An eventful

Melissa Smith

Chief Executive Officer of Find It Online

Wesley Curtin Football Club is located at Curtin University in Perth, and originally began as Wesley Football Club in the 70’s. In the early 90’s, they merged with Curtin Football Club to become what they are today. It is a welcoming community of players, staff, physios, dedicated committee members, family and friends. Other clubs are envious of the close knit feel that the club has adopted over the years which makes them even tougher to beat on the field. In 2013 they won the A Grade Championships in the WAAFL and are a force to be reckoned with. Out to keep their championship status this season, the league team donned the famous Pink Tiger jumper and played the annual ‘Pink Tiger Game’ in the annual Pink Tiger Day fundraiser which raises huge amounts of money for the McGrath Foundation. It was held on Saturday, 26th April, 2014. The sun was out, the clouds were heading over and the ladies were due to arrive for a 1.30pm start to the big event. But so too was the rain. 6

A marquee was setup which contained a full service bar, lounges, cocktail tables and umbrellas - creating the perfect place to watch the game and enjoy the hospitality! The ladies enjoyed a range of food including slow cooked roast beef and gravy rolls and they complimented the staff on a great day. An auction was held, with donations from lots of generous businesses. Items up for auction included boxes of WA wines, to week long holidays in local WA. The auction was a huge success with the club raising another $30,000 this year for the McGrath Foundation. Afterwards, everyone re-grouped back in the newly refurbished clubrooms for a night of dancing to local band “The Fit Swimmers. They played and sang some great tunes on the night and had everyone dancing and having a blast.

Ambassador and Director of the McGrath Foundation, and Jane’s best friend, Tracy Bevan, made an appearance all the way from Sydney for the occasion. As the guest speaker, she was very welcomed to the event by the event organisers. Amazingly, Pink Tiger Day is already the largest single fundraising event run by a community club Australia wide in support of the Jane McGrath Foundation!! Wesley Curtin Football Club have raised $70,000 in the last 3 years and have now taken the total raised so far to a huge $100,000!!! I appreciate everyone who made Pink Tiger Day a success. Their dedication to not only the club, but helping others by providing breast care nurses is to be highly commended and applauded. If you do one thing today, make it count! Donate today and raise funds to provide breast care nurses right across Australia as well as raise awareness.

Here's a gift that serves as a lasting reminder of your family's affection: a flippable compilation o inspirations and love notes personalized for you. Kids: Binder rings make it easy to turn messages, drawings, favourite memories, or quotes into a homemade tribute to Mum. What you'll need Coloured 3- by 5-inch index cards Hole punch Scissors Card stock Small metal binder rings

How to make i Fill a number of coloured 3- by 5-inch index cards with poems, drawings, and heartfel messages. Use a hole punch to make 2 hole at the top of each card, making sure the hole in all the cards line up To prepare a stand, cut a piece of colourfu card stock into a 5- by 10-inch rectangle, then fold the rectangle in half width wise. Punch 2 holes just below the fold, using one of you punched index cards as a guide. Fold each end of the card stock 2 inches in from the edge, then use scissors to cut a 1-inch slit in the centre of each flap Stack together all of the cards, placing the folded card stock at the bottom of the pile then bind together all of the pieces using 2 small metal binder rings (available at office supply stores). To set up the flip-book, jus interlock the slits in the flaps of the card stock to create a triangular display stand

THEY ARE REALLY YUMMY 15

What you'll need Small wooden box (available at craft stores) Acrylic paint (or stain) and brush Tacky glue Assorted decorating supplies (stamps, magazine pictures, photos, labels, stickers, wrapping paper, wooden or plastic toys) Nontoxic acrylic sealer and/or Mod-Podge How to make it First, apply a light coat of paint or coloured stain to the box. While it's drying, pick a theme for the box, such as jungle animals, golf, travel, classical music, cars or ballet dancing, and choose a bunch of fitting decorations. Here, for a nature-loving friend, we chose a bird theme and decorated our box with bird stamps, cut-out magazine pictures and bird stickers. Glue the decorating supplies onto the box (and maybe even put a few inside). When finished, brush on a coat of acrylic sealer or Mod-Podge. Lastly, glue a three-dimensional object -- say, a golf ball, a plastic toy or a wooden figurine -- to the top of the box.
