September 10, 2020 Dear Invitational Participant: Welcome to the 63rd Annual Gentlemen’s Member-Guest Golf Invitational at Baltimore Country Club. This year’s tournament is a 45-hole championship consisting of five 9-hole matches with teams flighted by combined handicap index and played at 90%. Every team will play a 9-hole match against each team in their flight. Our Overall Champions will then be determined by a 1-hole selective drive alternate shot score playoff of all the Flight Winners. United States Golf Association (USGA) rules will govern all aspects of play. In addition to our Overall Champions, there are awards for all Flight Winners and Runners-Up. We will also recognize the Senior Team (combined age 110-134) and the Super Senior Team (combined age of 135+), with the highest match play point total. Within this tournament booklet you will find a schedule of events, additional details on the tournament format, a notice to competitors sheet, a roster of participants, team flight reports, and starting times. The Golf Committee, members, and staff of Baltimore Country Club wish you a most enjoyable time during this great weekend of golf and camaraderie. If we can help you with any special arrangements, please ask, we will be happy to accommodate you. Good luck! Sincerely, Your Invitational Committee:

PLAYOFF FORMAT

The playoff will consist of twenty flight winning teams competing in a 1-hole (East #2) selective drive, alternate shot format with a team handicap applied. The team handicap will be comprised of 60% of the A player’s handicap and 40% of the B players handicap added together for a total team handicap and those strokes applied accordingly on the card. Play will be from the White Tees for this one hole playoff. Teams tied for the overall champion, after the 1-hole playoff, will go back to #2 fairway for a shoot-out. This shoot-out, if needed, will be explained by the rules committee prior to the overall playoff.

SENIOR & SUPER SENIOR DIVISION

Teams with a combined age of 110-134 years compete in the Senior Division, and teams with a combined age of 135+ years compete in the Super Senior Division. The winner will be the team with the highest points total. In case of a tie, the teams will compete in a 1-hole, combined aggregate score playoff to determine the winner.

HANDICAP INDEX

Members and guests will play with their lowest 2020 verified handicap index as of September 1, 2020. Any guest with an index at multiple clubs shall use their lowest index, as outlined by the USGA. The Committee reserves the right to adjust handicaps to ensure keen competition in each flight.

PRIZES

Overall Winner | Flight Winners and Runners-Up | Senior/Super Senior Division Winners

Notice to Competitors USGA RULES GOVERN ALL PLAY WITH THE FOLLOWING LOCAL RULES: TEES: All play will be from the WHITE tee markers with the exception of the Baltimore Country Club flight. That flight will play from the BLUE tee markers. In addition, if you are 70 years and older, you may play from the gold tees with your handicap adjusted accordingly for each match. You must state this prior to the first match and remain playing from the gold tees for each match. This applies to all flights with the exception of the Baltimore Country Club flight. BALL HOLED: The ball is only considered holed, when the ball comes to rest on the noodle insert in the hole, beneath the surface of the putting green.

4  63rd Annual Gentlemen’s Member-Guest Golf Invitational

BUNKER PLAY: A player may lift, clean, and place his golf ball elsewhere in a bunker without penalty (such as within one club-length of where the ball came to rest, no closer to the hole.) ONLY if their golf ball comes to rest in a disturbed area or footprint. Players MUST notify their opponents of your intention to take relief. PENALTY AREAS: Defined by yellow or red stakes and or lines, Rule 17. OUT OF BOUNDS: Defined by white stakes and property fences. Rule 18. Please note, a ball which crosses Mays Chapel Road will be considered out of bounds. In addition, the inside curb edge bordering the parking lot behind #16 & #18 West is defined as out of bounds. Additional Notes East Course: Hole #6 - fence, white stakes, and white line on ground (around the barn structures) Hole #17 - chain link boundary fence

Additional Notes West Course: Hole #4 - chain link boundary fence Hole #5 - chain link boundary fence

MODEL LOCAL RULE E-5: Alternative to Stroke and Distance for Lost Ball or Ball Out of Bounds. “When a player’s ball has not been found or is known or virtually certain to be out of bounds, the player may proceed as follows rather than proceeding under stroke and distance. For two penalty strokes, the player may take relief by dropping the original ball or another ball in this relief area (see Rule 14.3): Two Estimated Reference Points: a. Ball Reference Point: The point where the original ball is estimated to have: • Come to rest on the course, or • Last crossed the edge of the course boundary to go out of bounds. b. Fairway Reference Point: The point of fairway of the hole being played that is nearest to the ball reference point, but is not nearer the hole than the ball reference point. For purposes of this Local Rule, “fairway” means any area of grass in the general area that is cut to fairway height or less. Baltimore Country Club  5

WEST COURSE #12: Penalty Area on the right is now on the top of the hill near the fence and continues down the entire right-hand side of the hole. If your ball come to rest in the Penalty Area a player will have three options: 1. Play the ball as it lays in the Penalty Area without penalty. The USGA Rules allow a player to ground the club, make a practice swing, and remove loose impediments. 2. Take relief from the Penalty Area with a 1 stroke penalty. Move to the nearest optional drop circle that is behind the point where the ball last entered the Penalty Area. 3. If taking relief from the fence or cart path (immovable obstruction), you may go to the nearest drop circle that is behind the point of where the ball lies. PROMPT PACE OF PLAY: All players should play at a prompt pace and without delay. Expected pace is 4 hours for a four ball. Rule 5.6b TEMPORARY IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (TIOS): Fans around the putting greens are TIOs. Relief is provided as stated in Appendix 1, Part B – 7a III, for lie of ball, stance, area of intended swing or if the TIO intervenes directly between the player’s ball and the hole, and is on the line of play. RAIN POLICY: In the event that the course becomes unplayable due to weather, the Committee has determined the following policy related to completion of rounds and points awarded for the tournament There are three matches scheduled for Friday and two matches for Saturday. If a flight completes an entire round, those points awarded will stand even if some of the other flights in the entire field have been unable to complete their round. However, if every match within a certain flight is able to complete 6 or more holes, any remaining holes not completed for that match will be considered halved. If we are unable to complete all or some of the rounds on Friday, the matches (rounds) not completed will be cancelled and play on Saturday will be as originally scheduled in the booklet. Teams competing for the Overall Senior & Super Senior: In the event that all the matches have not been completed, the cumulative points will be determined by the team that completed the least amount of rounds and then base all of the teams off of that amount. As an example, some teams were able to complete three matches, some were able to complete four matches. We will take the fields first three matches to determine the cumulative total to award the Champions. In the event, that the entire first day of competition is rained out, the tournament will be converted into an 18 hole Better Ball of Partners Stroke Play within each flight. The lowest team score of each flight will then advance to the playoffs, which will be as originally described in this booklet. If there is a tie for the lowest score within each flight, the method for breaking ties will be by the USGA recommended procedure. The competition for the Overall Senior and Super Senior Champions will also be the Net Better Balls of Partners Stroke Play for the Senior and Super Senior teams. Rules Committee: Jason Sevier, Brian Sheahan, Greg Jones, and Nick Cannon

PLEASE KEEP PACE WITH THE GROUP IN FRONT OF YOU AND HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
