STAFF MEMBER OF THE MONTH
JANUARY: Jerry Kalb, Lead Locker Room Attendant
Jerry has only been a part of the BCC Team for a year, and has already left an everlasting impression on the Club. Since his first day, he has been eager to learn and provide an extraordinary experience for members and guests. Upon entering the locker room, you are greeted by Jerry and you feel at home. He was instrumental in reopening the Five Farms Men’s Locker Room and getting it back to “normal” as if renovations never happened. He is someone you can count on day in and day out. The relationships he builds with members and guests is second to none and is one of the reasons why BCC is a favorite place for our members.
LEADERSHIP AWARD
JANUARY: Carmina Purtell, Events Manager
Carmina has grown up at BCC in more ways than one. Starting at BCC several years ago as a Food & Beverage intern, she has worked her way up to Events Manager, and has grown into a wonderful leader. Her love and dedication to this team is evident in everything she does. Carmina is always ready to teach, guide, and learn. She understands the importance of teamwork and is consistently exceeding expectations. Carmina’s creativity and hard work throughout her time on the Events Team have set a high standard for what we can achieve. Her love of BCC, her fellow staff members, and the membership is apparent in every event, and we are so happy to show her our appreciation with this award.
GREENFOLDER STORIES
What sets Baltimore Country Club apart from other country clubs? Our people! Our staff members take every step to go above and beyond to accomplish our Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Often, there are easy ways to make a positive impression on our members from saying happy birthday to congratulations on an award. However, not being afraid to make the big gestures is what distinguishes us.
How can you participate in our Simple Truth? Help gather Member-able Moments by connecting to our membership on a personal level. Ask about their likes, desires, interests, and hobbies. Finding common ground helps build a connection and foundation to create a relationship.
Act on any ideas for how to create a positive impact on a member, guest, vendor, or fellow staff member! Every impact, regardless of size, is essential to the Simple Truth. Anything from a simple card to a grand care package helps to further our Truth. If you need assistance creating a grand gesture, contact Director of Member Experience Abby Michael at mmichael@bcc1898.com.
Lastly, we love sharing these stories of the Simple Truth! Submit your Simple Truth experience by filling out the Green Folder Stories form, located at the bottom of the Park & Farms email, in Park & Farms, the staff webpage, or scan the QR codes in the staff breakrooms. BCC encourages all members to submit their own or fellow staff members' Green Folder Stories.

GET CASH BACK WHEN YOU REFER A FRIEND
Looking for an easy way to earn some extra cash? How about referring qualified candidates for job openings at the Club?
Here’s how it works: If you know someone who would be a great fit for one of our job openings, simply refer them to us with them placing you as a reference when applying. If we hire them and they successfully complete their probationary period, you’ll receive a cash bonus as a “thank you” for your referral.
Not only will you be helping us find great talent, but you’ll also be rewarded for your efforts. Plus, you can feel good about referring someone you know to a company you believe in. It’s a win-win situation!
So why not take advantage of this opportunity to earn some extra cash? Start thinking about who you know that might be a great fit for BCC!
AWARD:
The Staff Member Referral Program rewards staff for each referred candidate that is hired as follows:
• $300 for any full-time staff member who is hired for ongoing employment
• $100 for any part-time staff member or seasonal staff member who is hired to work for a limited duration of time

St. Patrick’s Day FUN FACTS

Casey Schell, Director of Membership
Hello! I grew up in the Towson area, where I attended Maryvale for grades 6-12. I have three brothers who all attended Loyola Blakefield. After graduating high school, I got my first job in the golf proshop at Elkridge Club, where I worked in the summers. I played field hockey at UMBC and received a Bachelors in Geography and Environmental Science (my childhood dreams of being a meteorologist turned into being a Director of Membership at private country clubs ). Following graduation, I stepped into the membership department full-time at Elkridge. Kent Johnson was actually the GM at Elkridge for 11 of my 14 years there. Following him to BCC was one of the best decisions of my career, and I am so happy to be a part of this team. I am the proud mom to my three kids, Fritz (4), Rose (2), and Grace (8 months). I also have a really cute English Lab, Mags (8). Oh, and a pretty great husband, Eric (34). See you around!
Daniele Lepe, Membership Assistant
I started as a server at the Club and shortly after received an opportunity to transition into the Membership department. I am currently a senior at Towson University, studying Advertising and Public Relations. After I graduate in May, I hope to work in social media strategy or digital marketing. I went to high school in Southern Maryland but grew up in Pensacola, Florida. I attended a high school for criminal justice, while also playing lacrosse and cheerleading. When I’m not working or in school, I like to spend time with my cats Blue and Mako who I share with my best friend Rida (Rhytha). I love to travel, so if you see me and have any recommendations to visit, please stop me and let me know! I am coming up on year three of working at BCC, and I am so grateful for all the opportunities and people I have met.
