GREENFOLDER STORIES
What sets Baltimore Country Club apart from other country clubs? Our people! Our staff members take every step to go above and beyond to accomplish our Simple Truth: Great People Make Favorite Places. Often, there are easy ways to make a positive impression on our members from saying happy birthday to congratulations on an award. However, not being afraid to make the big gestures is what distinguishes us.
We love sharing these stories of the Simple Truth! Submit your Simple Truth experience by filling out the Green Folder Stories form, located at the bottom of the Park & Farms email, in Park & Farms, the staff webpage, or scan the QR codes in the staff breakrooms. BCC encourages all members to submit their own or fellow staff members’ Green Folder Stories.

CHEERS TO A BETTER YOU!
Staff Chef Shantae Fauntleroy has decided to step out of the kitchen to speak about something that will encourage and enlighten staff about themselves and each other. Oftentimes, at the beginning of the year, people reflect on what they could have done better or dwell on self-proclaimed shortcomings. The purpose of this class is to break that shell, allow your coworkers help you set goals for this year, and acknowledge everything you’ve done as an individual. This time is meant to uplift and inspire, a cheers to a better you!

Do you ever find yourself wanting to bring your hobby to work? Let us help make that happen for you! If you have an interest and information on certain subjects, we would love to offer you a platform to speak on them. Teaching a class can be as, if not more enriching than attending as a student. Not only will your coworkers get to know you a bit more, you will be able to share unique insight and knowledge for them to keep. Subjects can range from ‘Beginner’s Guide to Indian Masalas’, ‘Intro to Drawing’, all the way to ‘How to Care for a Rabbit’, really and truly anything! If you would like the opportunity to host a class, please contact Lauren Kourtsounis lkourtsounis@bcc1898.com and we can start planning your course!

BCC CARES A great place for the community
FOOD DRIVE
Concluding our February Food drive, we raised 195 lbs of food to be donated to our community! Throughout the month, we collected non-perishable food in our break room. Items included instant mashed potatoes, noodles, tuna, peanut butter, and much more. These items will be dispersed to families and individuals who are food insecure all throughout Maryland. Food insecurity is a larger problem than some may expect. According to current statistics, there are 1 in 5 American children who don’t have enough food and don’t know where their next meal is coming from. Thank you to everyone who helped contribute to such a wonderful cause; it does not go unnoticed!
OUR MISSION
To extend charitable aid to staff members of Baltimore Country Club and their families in case of emergency or financial crisis, including, without limitation, injury, illness, abuse, natural disaster, hardship, or disability.
WHAT WE DO
The Helping Hand Foundation was created in 2010 and has helped our fellow Staff Members with over $55,000 in assistance. We extend charitable aid to staff members of Baltimore Country Club and their families in cases of emergency or financial crisis.
CONTRIBUTE VIA PAYROLL
The organization is funded through voluntary staff member contributions that are tax deductible through our 501c3 status. Contributions can be as low as $1 per pay period and can be adjusted at any time. This is a great way to help your coworkers that may find themselves in need of assistance.
If you would like to contribute, or are in need of assistance, please email helpinghand@bcc1898.com or contact any Helping Hands committee member.

To: Brittany Lewis, Assistant F&B Director
Brittany is constantly thinking of her team first. With a busy and oftentimes unpredictable schedule of F&B Staff, Brittany always ensures that her team has the opportunity to participate in any Staff Events. This has resulted in her giving up her own spot in many cases, to make sure there’s room for others to join in.
From: Golf
To: Pastry Chef Lydia & Pastry Team
Lydia and her Pastry Team continue to go above and beyond everyone’s expectations. The time and effort that goes into their baked goods makes the whole system seem like it’s effortless, but in fact it is their hard work ethic that makes it run so smoothly.
From: Events
Kudos Korner is composed of different compliments or ‘kudos’ heard around the halls and sent to Staff Engagement Coordinator Madison Elena melena@bcc1898.com. This is to make sure that even if you haven’t heard it from a coworker directly, they are thinking of you! Theres a lot of gratitude to be spread. Thank you for all that you do!
To: David Atkinson, Events Manager
For his hard work and dedication to the Events Team. David is always communicating and ensuring that we are on the same page for upcoming Club Events. We are so appreciative when David takes the time to assist with member check-ins at Club events as well!
From: Member Relations
To: Housekeeping Team
They are continuously taking care of us in ways that we don’t see, often only being recognized if something is out of place. They do a lot for the Club, always with a smile on their face, and a consistent work ethic.
From: Culinary, F&B
To: Communications Team
They are continuously adapting to everyone’s needs and wants, even predicting what might be needed without a source to go off of. The talent that comes out of that department is invaluable.

Valentine’s Day Chili Cook
On Valentine’s Day, February 14, BCC held its inaugural Chili Cook-off. There were nine chilies lined down the hallway with plenty for everyone to sample and discuss. Before the votes were counted, it felt like the judgment could have gone either way, it all came down to one department—Culinary. With refined palates, the team deliberated over each submission. They left us in suspense, wondering who the Chili Champ would be. After careful calculation, we had our winners. In third place, Assistant Controller Chris Jeffers. Chris was not too familiar with the world of chili, but he had prepared himself and “That Chili” for this exact moment, and it more than paid off. In second place, we had a short rib chili from Bartender Jared Hedrick, a whizz culinary student with an aspiration to open his own restaurant one day. We can all say confidently that he has a bright future ahead of him. Drumroll please… our Chili Champs were none other than the dynamic bartender duo, Danny Coker and Gio Vargus with their Bacon Chorizo Chili, “The BCC!” Aside from their over-thetop, delicious dish, their teamwork and camaraderie were enjoyed by all. Congratulations to our winners, and thank you to our amazing staff for filling our hallways with laughter!

Potluck @ ROLAND PARK
Monday, March 18
In December of 2023, there was chatter around the business office about favorite dishes, and the idea of a potluck was brought up. We held a small Staff Potluck over at Roland Park on a Monday to supplement the staff meal. Sharing a meal blossomed into an experience that bonded our cultures and individuality, across the table and across the departments. With everyone enjoying their time and recipes, people were curious if it was going to be an ongoing event. After speaking with staff, it sounds like a Quarterly Potluck should be in order, mark your calendars for March 18! Be sure to sign-up your dish!
