Members,
It has been an exciting time at Cramer Mountain this summer, with many enhancements on the course, pro shop, Pickleball courts, pool, restaurant and the Cabana. We even put a new volleyball court in just in time for a Labor Day celebration. Fall will surely be busy with club championships, Member guest tournament, Tennis quads, Pickle Ball leagues, Trunk or Treat, the 1st Annual Halloween golf cart parade, Bourbon tastings and even a new menu rolling out and all that will barely take us through October.
The Board of Directors would like to share some very important news, along with an ask of the members. Many of you may know, we have been on a 12month lease terms for nearly 9 years with DMD Investors. Per your previous approval, the Board has negotiated and signed an agreement to renew our lease, with an added purchase agreement option added. The intent of this document is to fully own all aspects of the Cramer Mountain Club, including the golf course. The execution of this purchase will take place in the spring of 2025, with a hard date of June of 2025 for execution. The agreed price has been a constant, with the club reducing this final purchase price by the exact amount of already purchased real estate and property. This final acquisition will be for the golf course and some additional common areas, not currently owned by the club. The purchase price will be for $4.1 Million dollars. This will be accomplished with a combination of cash injection and bank financing. A Request for Proposal will be issued to the banking community in early Spring. The loan requested will depend on our current and future fund balances, but it will be close to $3.0 Million dollars. The additional new membership and previous dues increases already in place, will help to offset the increased debt service, in place of the current lease that will be retired.
Cramer Mountain Club is poised for growth and expansion with this acquisition. The ability to be strategic long term about course management, facility upkeep, and expansion of the Restaurant facility, along with a full locker room remodel and possible turn facility at the club house can be a reality. The Board of Directors can not do this alone. We need your help and all hands-on deck support to execute on this opportunity. The Time is here, and we need to seize the opportunity.
The Ask:
1. Support the club and restaurant (We are going into the slow restaurant season). Please book parties, come to the theme nights, tell your friends to give us a try.
2. We have 575 members; we are up over 100 members from last year but we need an additional 35 Full golf members in the next 60 days. That number is an additional $14,350 a month in membership dues. That is close to the difference in the lease versus the future loan payment increase. That is an additional $262,500.00 in initiation dues to go to the down payment.
3. We need to raise another $800,000.00 dollars for the down payment and contingency by early 1st quarter (We do not want to leave the club in a weak cash position).
4. Please talk up our club, celebrate our club, bring us referrals for new members and ask questions, if you are not clear. Ask Scott how you can help. The Board of Directors and staff stand ready to accomplish this great opportunity with your help.
In the coming weeks, the board of directors will be preparing financial projections and lay out a plan to reach the amount needed by close date.
Finally, we would like to thank Don and Mary Doctor for their continued support and commitment to the club and community. Don & Mary had a vision to help bring this club back to prominence and that day has arrived.
Respectfully,
The Cramer Mountain Board of Directors
In the TV Game Show – JEOPARDY, contestants attempt to supply the question after being given the answer. I love that game! Let’s try a clue.
What is the question? Do you give up?
and
Question: What are the 3 most important elements to a successful private Club?
Obviously, I believe the most important thing we can do for the longterm success of our Club is to grow and develop the membership! And the news is very good for CMC in this regard! Our membership is growing!
- We have @ 90 more members (all categories) than we did at the same time last year.
- We have reached our “Cap” and begun a waiting list to belong in the Sport Social Category
- We are now growing our Equity Full Golf category
- We are introducing a new Court & Clubhouse category for tennis/pickleball aficionados and people who are interested in dining/social events.
In fact, we are in the midst of a member referral program in which we are asking our members to REFER and SPONSOR a new member. Our goal is to add 20 more Full Golf members. And at the end of our program, when we reach our GOAL, we are going to have a drawing (from everyone who SPONSORED new member) and we are going to give away 1 YEAR FREE DUES to the winner. We think the best way to grow a club is with the Friends, Neighbors, Family and Co-workers of our existing members! So, if you know someone who you think would make a good member for Cramer Mountain Club, call our Membership Director, Austin Holland with their name and contact information. If they join during the Membership Program (ends in September) you have the chance to win 1 YEAR FREE DUES (value up to $5300)!
We really need your help with this! I promise there is nothing more important to the success of our Club! Thanks for playing your part in helping us get CMC where we want to go!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH! HERE ARE SOME OF THE CRAMER MOUNTAIN CLUB MEMBERS WHO HAVE REFERED POTENTIAL MEMBERS!
Zeb Daniel Stephen Wright Josh Fortenberry
Joey Denton William Powell Larry Cloninger
Lisa Russell Zach Eisenhower Mitchell Allen Hugh Holland Toby Craig Michael Hunt
I am sure I missed some names, but we appreciate everyone who is helping us reach our goal of adding 20 NEW GOLF MEMBERS by September!
In other membership news, we have introduced a new level of membership! With the addition of the pickleball courts, a Court & Clubhouse membership has been added that gives access to tennis, pickleball, and the Clubhouse Restaurant. Let’s get these brand new courts played on all the time!
I look forward to seeing you around the club!

Summer is still here for us in August as we transition back into the school and fall schedules. We had a great Pickleball Grand Opening event, busy camp season, and some challenges taking place in the singles ladder in July. Monday nights are gaining traction on the pickleball courts, come out and dink it around with us! It’s also time to start booking your afterschool clinic times with Will to reserve your spot for the fall if you’re wanting to do a regular lesson or group.
As a reminder, please remember to book your court times online through the court reservation dashboard on the club website. That goes for the hard court area as well for pickleballers and basketballers so we can keep track of numbers and don’t run into conflicts. Also, members are welcome to bring a guest to play, just note it when booking the court reservation, as there is a $5 guest fee per booking, thanks for your attention to these policies!
