Before Hoisting the Antenna 

Check the height and the position of the antenna, it should comply with the design document.

Determine the azimuth of the antenna

by compass, GPS or telescope. 

Verify the type and polarization of the antenna.

Adjust the polarization type of the antenna if necessary.

Install the anti-fall bracket

Hoisting the Antenna 

Bind the hoisting rope on one of the hoisting ring.

Use one or two stretching ropes, bind them on the antenna.

Persons on top may hoist the antenna by pull the rope on the pulley.

Caution: 

Nobody standing under the steel tower when hoisting and installing the antenna.

Page16

Installing the Antenna 

Spread anti-seize grease on the bolts and tighten the screws.

Remove the hoisting rings.

One ODU for Single-Polarized Antenna 

There are two types of installation, direct or separate mounting.

Direct mounting

Separate mounting Page20

Direct Mount Installation 

For ODU direct mount on the antenna

check the polarization is match apply the lubricant carefully

close the latches by cornerwise sequence

Separate Mount Installation 

Separate Mount by Waveguide 

Install the ODU adapter onto the antenna pole.

Connect the flexible waveguide with antenna and ODU adapter.

Perform the waterproof for the flexible waveguide.

Page23

Separate Mount by Waveguide (Cont.) 

Install the ODU onto the ODU adapter. 

The ODU adapter provides the same feed boom port as the antenna.

Installing the ODU onto the ODU adapter is similar to installing the ODU onto the antenna.

Two ODUs for Dual-Polarized Antenna 

Install two ODUs onto dual-polarized antenna.

Feed boom on the left is vertically polarized

Feed boom on the right is horizontally polarized Page27

Direct Mount Installation 

Install the hybrid coupler  

Page28

Use four latches and four bolts to mount it on the antenna. Before mounting, check the polarization of the hybrid coupler, if not the same as the polarization on antenna, adjust it.

IF Cable Installation 

Make the N type connector on the IF cable

Hoist the IF cable with the end which connecting to ODU.

Connect the IF cable to ODU’s IF cable port or lighting arrester tightly.

Make good waterproof curve.

RTN 900 IDU Profile 

The IDU is used to receive and multiplexes services, performs service processing and IF processing, and provides the system

control and communications function. 

The IDU 905 is case-shaped, not support the pluggable board. So it will skip the board installation step.

Installing the IDU in a Cabinet 

Install the captive nut, grounding cable and IDU.

Page32

Installing the IDU on the Wall 

The mounting ears are the same as used to install in the cabinet.

Page33

Installing the Board 

When installing, inserting, or removing the board, wear an antistatic wrist strap or antistatic gloves.

Before you insert a board, ensure that the slot is correct. If it is difficult to insert the board, stop the operation.

Page34

Installing the Cables 

Install the power cable

Page35

Powering On the Equipment 

Before powering on the equipment, ensure that the installation of the ODU is completed and the ODU switch on the IF board is set to the off state.

Item The chassis should be installed firmly in the position specified in the engineering design document. Each chassis component does not have any paint drop, damage,

or stain. Otherwise, re-paint or clean the component. When a board is inserted into the chassis, the screws on the front panel of the board should be tightened. Empty slots in the chassis should be covered with filler panels. The routing of the cables should conform to the engineering design

5

document and should facilitate maintenance and expansion in the future.
