Week 4 Journal: In the tutorial, it talked about an introduction of working drawings. I think all the main concepts about the plan, elevation, section, scale, symbols and line types are basic knowledge for construction. Also, tutor introduced most informations about floor plan. Such as FL, FFL, STC, which meaned first floor, finish floor levels and suspended tile ceiling.

Firstly, tutor handed out four plans for us which were parts of university campus. We were divided into four groups to explored some detailed informations from the plans. Also, each group had the construction guide tour for their case study building. It could help us to understand the plan usefully. Certainly, some questions were hard for us because of the limited background knowledge, but tutor solved our doubts patiently.

On the other hand, we explored the scale, annotation, legends. Our building’ s scale was 1:100.

In addition, we compared the real building with the plan to learn the working drawing better.

I think the plan is important for us to design and build the construction. What’s more, it is necessary and basic to learn that how to set up and observe the scale of real building and working drawing.
