Week 5 Journal: This week, we did the assignment 2’s presentation. For my roof model, there are trapeziform frames in the front and back. Also, the stable triangular frames in the both sides. Besides, I use the three removable semi-circles to cover doors and others. However, tutor thought that the semi-circles were complex because the roof should be made simple. Thus, I have to alter the structure of roof and re-make again. Next, tutor gave us the case study building to explore the structural concepts. Also, we have to draw, plan and analyse the sections of the building. It is quite interesting.

Actually, the Ormand College Building is surrounded by the natural environment, such as trees and flowers. From the outside of building, we can see many tiles and concrete to support the floor. There are many vitreous windows between two columns. Inside of college, there is a beam to support a wall. Also, the building include European style to show the design concept. The main materials of the building are glass, tiles and concrete. It will not cause the population, so this building is friendly-environment. In additional, these materials are very common in architecture, and easy to gain. What’s more, there cost are low when they are compared with other materials, such as metals. The important point is that the building is sustainable because it blends in nature. Thus, the building is feasible.
