THE ECM YOUNG PERSON’S DEVELOPMENT AWARD 2018 Are you aged between 17 and 30? Are you studying to work in the Maritime Industry? Or are you perhaps at the beginning of your career in the Maritime industry and would appreciate industry recognition and a bursary to help further your career? To celebrate the 21st year of Seawork and as a part of the European Commercial Marine Awards (ECMAs), Mercator Media is awarding a bursary (worth up to £850 or equivalent value in relevant currency) to help one young maritime student/apprentice/trainee further advance their studies, training, or career. All you have to do is make a short video showing us why you should win the ECM Young Person’s Development Award 2018; the video could showcase projects you have completed or are currently working on, or demonstrates your passion for the industry! The video should be between 1 minute and 3 minutes long and accompanied by a few words to explain what you would spend the bursary on, and how it would help you in your career. The winner will receive the bursary, a trophy and an invitation to the exclusive ECMAs awards ceremony! For us, it’s really important to have a live demo capability in the water, as Seawork does. It also has very good international commercial visitor attendance, particularly of those in the workboat arena. Seawork organiser Mercator Media and event company Big Custard Events, invite exhibitors and sponsors to a 4th July Celebration on the Wednesday of Seawork from 5-8pm. Featuring live music, an American-themed bar and cookout, Seawork’s 4th July promises a fun time for all. A Cardboard Boat Regatta will see exhibiting companies and supporters entering a race with ingenious inventions. Prizes will be awarded to the regatta winner. Tickets are £10 which includes entry, food, drink and access to view the regatta racing. In partnership with Composites UK, Seawork’s Composites Pavilion will feature businesses involved in all aspects of global maritime sector composite production. ON THE WATER The Seawork Marina is the largest commercial marine on-water exhibit in Europe. This year the marina pontoons, sponsored by Walcon Marine, will berth over 70 craft, vessels and floating exhibits ranging from 4m to 30m. These vessels and water craft cover a vast range of operational abilities; from wind farm support through to ship servicing, environmental control, port and harbour duties. All demos are organised by the Association of Diving Contractors and last year Seawork exhibitor Cygnus Instruments used the DiveTank to show off their latest underwater ultrasonic thickness gauges. The DiveWork Pavilion and Trail is a showcase for the commercial underwater industry, covering all sectors of offshore, inshore and inland activity. DRIVING INNOVATION Celebrating 15 years of spotlighting excellence in emerging and innovative commercial marine sector vessels, equipment and services, the ECMA Innovations Showcase will be displayed in the Atlantic Hall. The ECMA Innovations Showcase, sponsored by the BMF which debuts over 50 new innovations, represents a broad range of categories which suit all types of businesses. In addition to potentially winning the coveted Spirit of Innovation Trophy, which is held in high esteem within the industry, submitted innovations will also receive extensive publicity from the Seawork PR team, as well as free features within the Maritime Journal magazine, reaching over 42,000 maritime professionals. Innovations Showcase entries can be submitted by exhibitors at no charge via the Exhibitor Manual. Non-exhibitors may also submit an entry for a fee – form is on the Seawork website.
