It’s our goal for 2023 to help you slow down, center yourself in the Gospel, and thrive. Each box this year will include a floral theme and a word of the month designed to encourage you to thrive. This greenhouse illustration above will continue to fill with flowers every month. By the end of 2023, it will be full of blossoms just as your home will be full of inspiration and amazing ethically made finds.

Summer is known as a time to enjoy the hot sun, long days, and getaway moments. But we all know problems don’t stop just because the calendar turns. Some days require endurance.

Life brings difficulties, uncertainty, and sometimes darkness even in the brightest months.

Darkness is the absence of light. While we cannot get rid of darkness, we can make it disappear when we introduce light to it.

This might be the best summer of your life, the worst, or somewhere in-between. No matter how your sunny days are shaping up, we are called to faithfulness. Endurance is a call to be steadfast even in the darkness.

MADE BY LOCAL HOPE IN THE USA

Your 100% soy wax 12 ounce glass jar Ginger + Spice candle will remind you of the holidays, with the rich aroma of something delicious wafting from the kitchen. Crystalized ginger dominates a medley of cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and allspice, with hints of citrus and a dash of vanilla in this mouthwatering fragrance.

Diaa, one of Local Hope’s most skilled candlemakers, worked hard hand-pouring this month’s candle. Years ago, Diaa and her family fled war-torn Syria. The spent three years in Jordan before moving to Houston and resettling in a refugee community. Recently, the family was able to purchase their first home in America.

Mercy House Global is located just outside of Houston, Texas. The city is home to more than 70,000 refugees, making it one of the largest populations in the USA. MHG employs about ten women who have resettled in Houston from different countries around the world. This group of artisans, along with an empowered in-house artisan, comprise Local Hope. This 100% soy-based candle was poured by two of these women.

HOW TO USE YOUR CANDLE TOOLS:

Wick trimmer: Carefully trim your wick after each use to keep the flame from burning too hot or at a faster rate. If the wick is too long, it is more likely to flicker and may cause your wax to tunnel.

Flame snuffer: Say goodbye to your flame safely by extinguishing it without scattering wax.

Wick dipper: Once your flame is extinguished and trimmed, use the candle dipper with the hooked end to straighten the wick and/or remove any wick debris from the wax.

Store your candle tool set in the included protective pouch.

After six years of witnessing the artisans’ struggles in India, Samuel Masih established Noah’s Ark International Exports in 1986 in an effort to raise the artisans out of poverty and preserve their livelihoods. Noah’s Ark Exports has supported artisans and their families with fair wages, long-term business investment and collaboration, and health and education initiatives for more than thirty years.

The candle tool set was made in the workshop of Mohd Rizwan. He is a skilled artisan who has been working with brass for 35 years. He employs 5 other artisans in his workshop. Noah’s Ark has been working with Mohd for the past 3 years and he enjoys designing products. This candle tool set was a good order for his workshop, as it provided regular work to his team for three months. This order also helped him upgrade his workshop and that has been a goal he has been working towards for the past three years.

While we are a faith-based ministry and partner with other faith-based ministries, religion is not forced upon artisans, nor is it a requirement for employment. Many women & their families have different religions than us, and that is okay. Our belief in Christ calls us to love, serve, and help others, regardless of their personal belief systems.
