MERCY HOUSE GLOBAL Ministry Update | August 2022

a note from the founder...

It’s not an exaggeration to say that 2022 has been a difficult year for our ministry, but we remain hopeful that God will continue to provide. We have faced unprecedented financial issues, logistical challenges, structural losses, and discouragement. At the same time, we have funded rescues of pregnant trafficked girls, started new refugee programs, and expanded artisan partnerships. We are still here. As we move into the final days of summer, our hearts look toward the coming months at Mercy House Global.

Fall-ING into a new season! Fall is a special time for our ministry, as we launch new, artisan-made collections that bring empowerment to artisans and host our annual fall event that will give us an opportunity to invite friends of Mercy House Global to help this ministry continue. In order to move forward, sometimes it’s critical to look behind us—to return to our roots. We believe showing and sharing the powerful work happening in Kenya will do that. RSVP now so you don't miss out on this special event!

We are excited to move deeper into this year’s botanical theme as we transition into cooler temperatures. From the homes of resettled refugees across the ocean, to Kenya, and every home in-between, this staple fall collection represents being rooted and established while we embrace new mercies every day. This new signature collection represents new beginnings with classic brass, horn, and polymer pieces. It encompasses the seasons of growth, signifying the beauty that comes with change.

An update from Kenya This past week, our Kenyan directors drove nine hours to visit with and celebrate the birthdays of the first two babies born at Rehema House in 2011 and 2012. These miracle children are now 11 and 10 years old! Generations are being reshaped, lives are being changed, and hope is being restored in Jesus’ name. Today is also Election Day in Kenya. After the elections in 2007 and 2013, there was prolonged political unrest and violence, which has a trickle effect on the citizens and the economy. Please join us in praying for peace and swift resolution following this election.

ESOL program Our ESOL teachers and students have taken a break this month and will resume classes in September. The women have learned so much, but most importantly, they have grown in their self-confidence and feel empowered in their new home country! We are also co-hosting our third Empowerment Luncheon this month for women in the Houston area who have found refuge here in the USA. Thank you for supporting our local refugee empowerment program!
