Ethically made by Noah’s Ark in India
Noah’s Ark
In Moradabad, an Indian city with a population of almost 1.2 million, more than half of the people are involved in the metal handicrafts trade. Unfortunately, the industry has long been plagued with injustice. Artisans are paid low wages, forced to pay commissions to exporters, and must self-finance the raw materials needed to complete orders.
As the cost of metal has become prohibitively high and the international market has evolved, artisans must invest in diversifying beyond Moradabad’s tradition of brass crafts—though many fall victim to bad debt or shop closure. Trades that are passed down from one generation to another make up an important part of India’s culture. Yet the heritage and tradition of handicrafts is increasingly threatened as insufficient profits force marginalized artisans to seek other professions.
After many years of witnessing the artisans’ struggles, Samuel Masih established Noah’s Ark International Exports in 1986 in an effort to raise the artisans out of poverty and preserve their livelihoods. Noah’s Ark has supported artisans and their families with fair wages, long-term business investment and collaboration, and health and education initiatives for more than thirty years.

Meet Your Tea Farmer
Monica is a veteran tea plucker. Handpicking tea provides her family of 5 with a steady income. Fun fact: Monica and all her children are left-handed! At JusTea, we’re dedicated to fairly traded and farmer-direct tea benefiting Kenyan farming families with fair wage and steady employment opportunities.
Hand-carved in Kenya, these spoons provide fair wages for approximately 200 carvers and sanders. Carving in Kenya is mostly a seasonal job because the demand is driven by tourism, so in the off-season, there is a reduced need for workers. But our spoons are made year-round, creating sustainable employment for the carvers. 90% of the price JusTea pays for the spoons goes directly to the artisans, with the remaining 10% going to supplies and transport. These spoon carvers earn about 2-3 times the minimum wage in Kenya.
All of the spoons are made from offcuts of olive wood.
