THRIVE

It’s our goal for 2023 to help you slow down, center yourself in the Gospel, and thrive. Each box this year will include a floral theme and a word of the month designed to encourage you to thrive. This greenhouse illustration above will continue to fill with flowers every month. By the end of 2023, it will be full of blossoms just as your home will be full of inspiration and amazing ethically made finds.

“Love is a perfume you cannot pour onto others without getting a few drops on yourself.”

They say the kitchen is the heart of the home.

It’s certainly the first place our noses lead us when we follow a smell. Whether it’s our favorite homemade cookies fresh out of the oven or a strong mystery odor coming from the garbage disposal in need of a turn, the aroma of the kitchen draws us together.

There’s just something about smells—they enrich our experiences, evoke memories, and encourage bonds.

In the Old Testament, God commanded the priests of Israel to continually burn aromatic incense. This was a physical representation of our prayers to God.

Our prayers are so pleasant and precious to God that He lovingly collects them in “golden bowls” in heaven, according to Revelation 5:8. By keeping them close, they are like a constant fragrant garden.

What beautiful imagery: our prayers offered as a thriving bouquet of flowers to God, the creator.

The next time you scrub a pot from dinner, dry off a pan, or wash your hands with your lemon-scented soap, remember that the love you serve to your family in the kitchen is like a fragrant offering, a silent prayer of gratitude, a moment to remember.

KANTHA KITCHEN TOWEL + KANTHA DISH TOWELs (SET OF 2)

MADE BY ASHA PROJECT IN INDIA

The women of Asha Project used three layers of recycled sari fabric to create your soft, absorbent towels. The kantha fabric is already well-loved, displaying patches and small imperfections. Due to the recycled nature of kantha fabric, your towels may vary in style from those pictured. To care for your towels, wash gently and tumble dry.

asha project

Asha Project was created with a vision to empower women in India to help break the cycle of poverty that has a hold on their families and communities. Poverty that robs access to clean water from 163 million people; aborts 100,000 babies and sends 135,000 children into human trafficking every year; marries 27% of girls off before their 18th birthday; enslaves 9 million children and 6 million adults in forced labor; and steals HOPE.

Thank you for investing in HOPE for the beautiful women of Asha Project. From teaching new skills to selling beautifully handcrafted products, they are committed to working together to empower women in India to help break the cycle of poverty in their communities so that together, we can hope for a better tomorrow.

mamata

In Mamata’s poor village, her husband’s construction job is not enough to provide for their family. Mamata was losing hope for a better future, but when she learned to make kantha dishcloths, she found a new purpose in her life. She discovered a talent she never knew she had and gained confidence in her abilities. Mamata was proud that she could now help support her family and contribute to their well-being.

The order of kantha dishcloths and towels went through the hands of 55 women in four villages and provided 19,500 hours of work. The impact was huge for the artisans involved, helping them earn additional income to support themselves and their families. Moreover, this order provided Asha Project with the opportunity to continue growing and expanding their business, which in turn creates more opportunities for the women to grow and be empowered.

bamboo Pot scrubber

This earth friendly pot scrubber will become your new best friend in the kitchen! It easily tackles stuck-on food with its coarse, plantderived sisal bristles. Your pot scrubber is safe to use on non-stick pans and is completely compostable.

WHAT IS FAIR TRADE?

Fairly-traded products are made by artisans who work in safe conditions, are paid a fair wage, and work fair hours. No child gave up his education to produce your new favorite item; no mom was laboring in a sweatshop for 80 hours a week. We ensure that all of our Fair Trade Friday club items are fairly traded.

HOW IS FTF DIFFERENT THAN OTHER SUBSCRIPTION CLUBS?

We are not a for–profit company, or even a profit-for-good company — Fair Trade Friday is operated by Mercy House Global, a nonprofit. All profits from FTF directly support our maternal rescue center, Rehema House, in Kenya. You can learn more at mercyhouseglobal.org.

FTF PARTNERS WITH FAITH-BASED ARTISAN GROUPS ACROSS THE GLOBE. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

While we are a faith-based ministry and partner with other faith-based ministries, religion is not forced upon artisans, nor is it a requirement for employment. Many women & their families have different religions than us, and that is okay. Our belief in Christ calls us to love, serve, and help others, regardless of their personal belief systems.
