I thought it went well! I’m usually I think she’s funny! horrible at auditions I love her vibes. so I’m happy with how it went. I’ve never played a character like her before!

I really love her personality!

I was super nervous but I don’t remember much about it! I didn’t know a lot of the people auditioning, and it was a scary process. But I thought I did well.

“We’re All in This Together”

I like being the first face you see when the curtain opens!

The kid next to me kept talking about being short, and all I could think was how much taller he was than me.

Meet Your New StuCo Officers! By Sarah Seymour & Mary Kasperowski

Jazz Mendez—President What made you decide to run for your STUCO position? I have always known I wanted to be Student Council President from like 5th grade lol, (weird for a 5th grader) (I know right). I wanted to run though because I want to be someone who makes everyone excited for school events, and who can help increase school spirit. I also want to make this upcoming school year one to remember. What event are you most excited to help lead/contribute ideas to for next school year? I am most excited to lead/contribute to Walkathon. Walkathon is such an amazing event here at Mercy, and being able to help out more than before is going to be amazing. (Don’t know if its with Xavier again next year, but if it is definitely know we will be taking the dub!!!) What qualities do you believe are important in a leader? Qualities I believe are important in a leader are reliability, organization, respect, and positivity. What are some things we do not know about you? Absolutely love Disney. Throwbacks is my fav music. I think everyone knows this but I play volleyball and basketball.

Sophia Engels—Vice Pres What made you decide to run for your STUCO position? It has been something I've looked forward to since my freshman year. I love being involved in the planning and spirit in Mercy activities! I have seen several great vice presidents before me, and they have inspired me to put my all into student council next year! What event are you most excited to help lead/contribute ideas to for next school year? I am most excited to lead Walkathon in the next school year because I LOVED this past year’s celebration. I believe my fellow StuCo board members and I can work together to create the most fun day for both Mercy and Xavier. What qualities do you believe are important in a leader? I believe that being a leader involves confidence, maturity, and perseverance. Leading by example displays all of these qualities and demonstrates the appearance of a strong leader. What are some things we do not know about you? People might not know that I moved here from Illinois when I was 8, or that I’m an only child!

Shannon Arsenault—Secretary What made you decide to run for your STUCO position? I have always wanted to run for Student Council, even before high school. I knew that the role of secretary requires someone that is organized, trustworthy, and reliable. I feel that in every leadership position I have held, I have displayed these qualities. What event are you most excited to help lead/contribute ideas to for next school year? I am so thrilled to be a part of planning Walkathon and Cake Auction. I cannot wait to work behind the scenes with the moderators and other officers to create memories that will last a lifetime. What qualities do you believe are important in a leader? I believe one of the biggest things is experience. I am currently an Ambassador officer, and I have been on the sophomore executive board. Having experience for Student Council is crucial in upholding the traditions of Mercy. I also believe you need to be caring of those you are leading and understanding when things don't go as planned. What are some things we do not know about you? I have been dancing since I was 2, and I was on dance team freshman year. Another thing about me is that I knew I wanted to go to Mercy in third grade!

Lillian Clark—Treasurer What made you decide to run for your STUCO position? I wanted to take on a bigger role within the student body and I enjoy planning and spirit activities so I thought StuCo would be a good fit. What event are you most excited to help lead/contribute ideas to for next school year? I am most enthusiastic about Walk-a-thon. I remember how fun and spirited Walk-a-thon was my freshmen year. I am more than excited to give the underclassmen a similar experience. What qualities do you believe are important in a leader? I believe as a leader it is important to be trustworthy, kind and a good listener. It is important for people to be able to go to you as a peer and see you as a good example to follow. What are some things we do not know about you? I grew up in Missouri, I play the flute in Orchestra, and I work at Dunkin!

Isabella Stevens—Historian What made you decide to run for your STUCO position? I've wanted to be a part of the student council since I was a freshman. Historian just seemed like it would be a good fit for me, so I went for it. What event are you most excited to help lead/contribute ideas to for next school year? Spirit Week and Cake Auction will definitely be super fun to help plan. What qualities do you believe are important in a leader? Responsibility is definitely a major quality, but you also have to be passionate and enthusiastic about what you're doing. What is are some things we do not know about you? I'm really into soccer! I played it for around seven to eight years and even though I don't play anymore, I still love to watch it.

Mercy High School’s #1 High School Musical Fan: Emilia St. Pierre By: Paula Opeña & Emilia St. Pierre

She had pajamas, beach towels, multiple shirts, jewelry, pillows, video games, dolls, microphones, a scrapbook, posters of each character, Christmas tree ornaments, and of course, the “I Love Troy” shirt and bag. Any High School Musical merch item you could think of, Emilia probably had it. She went to High School Musical: On Ice and could sing every song from the first movie before she was able to speak a complete sentence. To say she is excited to see this year’s musical would be an understatement!
