Beginning with the Big/Little Sister Program during Freshwoman year, new relationships and life-long friendships are created through peer support and mentorships. Each girl is matched with a “Big Sister” to help with her transition to Mercy. When she reaches her Junior year, she will become a “Big Sister” to an incoming Freshwoman. The Mercy circle of friendship continues to grow with each new “Little Sister”.
Engaging traditions such as Pin Ceremony, Junior Ring, Retreat Day, Cake Auction, and celebrating masses together, bring our Mercy community closer, strengthening bonds that will last a lifetime.

Mercy has a well-developed and unique Advisor Program that pairs each student with a faculty member for her entire high school career. Each faculty member (advisor) has an advisor group that consists of students in all four grade levels, creating a special place for peer-mentoring and one-to-one connections. Advisor groups meet daily and Advisors are the point person for Mercy Girls— helping with whatever is needed—from locker combinations Freshwoman year to writing college recommendations for Seniors.
At Mercy High School, each student is cared for and supported as an individual. School counselors serve the needs of students in the areas of academic, college, career and personal counseling. Each freshwoman is assigned a counselor who advises her and follows her progress throughout her four years at Mercy. From the beginning, our school counseling team works with each Mercy student to establish a plan for the upcoming years. The team creates a plan which assures that each student is placed in classes that will encourage them to grow, develop talents, deepen knowledge and understanding, and become active members of the school community. Counselors work closely with students, teachers, administrators, and parents with an unwavering commitment to provide the best guidance and counseling services possible. Mercy High School Grading System
Grade Point Average
Mercy High School uses a weighted Grade Point Average (GPA) based on a 4.0 scale. The weighted GPA takes into account the fact that more advanced courses earn more quality points for a grade than the same grade in a less difficult course. Each numeric grade is assigned quality points adjusted according to the level of course and the credit earned. The scales below apply to one credit courses. To compute points for 0.5 credit courses, multiply by 0.5.
GRADES Grade Equivalent A+ A AB+ B BC+ C CD+ D F
The Grade Point Average (GPA) is computed according to a system of weighting courses based on the level of difficulty at which the course is taught. The grade point scale for leveled courses is printed below. Unleveled courses (Course Level 5) are not considered in the calculation of the GPA. The cumulative grade point average (GPA) is based on the student’s academic career at Mercy High School. The GPA is calculated at the end of each semester for seniors. The GPA is calculated at the end of each school year for freshwomen, sophomores and juniors. Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.6 at the end of sophomore or junior year to be eligible for selection to the National Honor Society. The Honor Roll is published at the end of each term.
