2 MEREDITH COLLEGE

At Meredith, we’re experts at making strong women like you even stronger. How? It’s simple, really.

We get to know you. The real you. What makes you happy. What sparks your curiosity. What keeps you up at night – and what gets you out of bed in the morning. Your big (and small) dreams.

We’ll help you discover what makes you strong – and then teach you how to use your natural strengths to prepare for the life you envision. One of intention and impact. Power and purpose. A life that matters.

Together, we’ll develop a college experience that’s as unique as you are. One that will serve as your own personal launching pad.

Because for a strong woman like you,

THE SKY’S THE LIMIT.

BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

My first internship was right after my freshman year – I worked for an insurance company over the summer. It was a really good experience to dive into accounting and work in a professional setting. I got to do things like bank reconciliations and actually work with the finances. I really enjoyed it, and it helped me see that I was on the right career path.”

I don’t think I would have had this support and these experiences at another college. I wouldn’t have applied for the Fulbright, and I don’t think I would have done as well academically. Who knows about medical school? I am very happy about my choice to attend Meredith.”

STRONGPOINTS®

is an integral part of the Meredith experience and available to every student at no extra cost.

Through this uniquely powerful, individualized coaching and advising program, you’ll identify your top strengths when you come to campus. Then, throughout your four years at Meredith, you’ll apply those strengths to your studies, experiences, career planning, and finances. The result? A stronger, more resilient you who is ready for the life you want to lead once you graduate.

& DETERMINED. THIS IS MEREDITH.

FREYA DAHLGREN, ’24 PSYCHOLOGY COMMUNICATION

I studied abroad in Sweden, which was a great source of newfound independence because I was the only Meredith student in the program. I learned about my own culture being Swedish, but also how another culture operates on a societal level. I learned how to trust my own instincts and believe in myself.”

YOUR PLAN STARTS HERE.

Some students come to Meredith knowing exactly what they plan to study. If that sounds like you, we’ll help you make the most of your experience with plenty of hands-on learning opportunities like internships, study abroad, and more.

Although many students know their intended major, it’s fine if you don’t know what you want to study yet. The next four years are an exciting time of discovery. (It’s kind of the point of college.)

At Meredith, we embrace the real world. One in which students can arrive at college not knowing what they want to study and those who do can change their minds. (In fact, research shows more than one in three students change majors at least once.) We have expert staff and faculty who will help you figure out your plan for the future – including your major – and still graduate on time.

98% of students said one or more faculty/staff members have shown interest in their development.

8 MEREDITH COLLEGE

STILL DECIDING ON A MAJOR

Not sure what you plan to study? You’re in good company – plenty of students enter Meredith not knowing their major. Your faculty, Success Coach, and staff from Academic Advising, Career Planning, and StrongPoints® will help you explore your interests and find the major that’s right for you.

DESIGN YOUR OWN MAJOR

In addition to the 90+ academic programs offered at Meredith, you can design your own major. Combine course work in several disciplines or pursue a specific topic in depth. Recent examples include Chinese studies, media writing, and art history.

ACCELERATED OPTIONS

Save time and money by earning a graduate degree more quickly.

Programs include an accelerated MBA, Master of Arts in Criminal Justice, and Master of Arts in Teaching as well as accelerated partnerships with Campbell Law and Elon Law.

In my first calculus class, my professor recommended I consider being a math major because I was doing so well. Having a small class really makes you feel seen. You don’t get lost in the masses, and that was important for me.”

BUILD THE WORLD YOU WANT TO LIVE IN. LEARN BY

96%

Internships are no longer considered optional by employers. That’s why internships are an essential part of the Meredith experience. Most students complete at least one and many do more, with placements starting as early as summer after freshman year.

Internship coordinators in the Office of Career Planning and academic departments work together to find the right placement. And because our students have an exceptionally strong reputation among employers, you’ll have plenty of options to practice what you’ve learned while building your resume.

TOP TEN PIECES OF ADVICE FOR YOUR COLLEGE SEARCH

(FROM MEREDITH STUDENTS WHO HAVE BEEN IN YOUR SHOES)

1. Definitely schedule a campus visit.

2. Find a place that makes you feel at home.

3. Pay attention to what you want rather than what others think you should do.

4. Make a list of things you’re curious about.

5. Don’t focus on where you think you’re supposed to be – focus on where you think you can grow.

6. Consider the core values you want in a school.

7. Don’t be afraid to talk to professors. They aren’t as intimidating as you think – here at Meredith they want to see you succeed and they genuinely care.

8. Choose your college holistically – don’t just focus on one factor such as whether they have a particular major.

9. Pick a college that will give you a strong, supportive network – it’s important to have people who want the best for you.

10. Go with your gut and trust yourself in your decision.
