need-based assistance The financial assistance process begins with the completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). By entering Meredith’s school code (#002945) on the FASFA, students will automatically be considered for all need-based aid programs (listed below). If eligible, students will receive notification of award amounts from these programs on the official statement of award, which will be mailed from the Office of Financial Assistance after March 15th. Students need not apply for these funds separately. International students and other students not eligible for federal student aid should submit the International Student Financial Assistance Application.
Meredith Grant Meredith College offers annual grants to students with demonstrated need. These grants supplement any assistance available through federal and state programs. To be renewed, students must maintain satisfactory academic progress and continue to demonstrate need for financial assistance.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Meredith College has a limited amount of these federal grants, and the awards are provided only to students with the highest demonstrated financial need. Awards typically range from $100 to $4,000 and do not have to be repaid. Federal Work-Study Students who have demonstrated need based on the FAFSA may be eligible to receive Federal Work Study funding to work on campus during the academic year. On average, students are able to earn up to $1,300. Wages begin at $7.25/hour and are paid to students on the 10th day of each month for any hours worked during the prior month. to borrow this loan. First-time students can borrow up to $3,500; sophomores can borrow up to $4,500; and juniors and seniors can borrow up to $5,500 per year. other assistance
Notes:
Meredith College has many options available to assist families in affording an education. Families should review the available options to determine which will work best for them.
Federal Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program The TEACH Grant Program provides $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in specified subject areas (such as Bilingual Education and English Language Acquisition, Foreign Language, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Special Education) at public or private elementary or secondary schools that serve students from low-income families. Students must agree to teach in an eligible subject area at an approved school for four years after graduation. If a student does not complete the required teaching service obligation, all TEACH Grant funds received will be converted to a Federal Direct Unsubsidized Stafford Loan that must be repaid.
Yellow Ribbon Scholarship Program This program offers to match certain grant and scholarship contributions from Meredith College to veterans and their eligible dependents. Maximum VA benefit is $17,250. Meredith College will provide grants and scholarships of up to $5,000 per student for as many as 50 veterans and dependents who qualify. Go to www.gibill.va.gov to learn more and to begin the Yellow Ribbon enrollment process.
Alternative Loans Various educational lenders offer loans to credit-worthy students (or students with a credit-worthy co-signer). If eligible, a student may borrow up to the cost of attendance less other financial assistance received. Names, terms and conditions of these types of loans are not standardized. Please make sure you fully understand the terms, fees and repayment options of your alternative loan before making your final lender and loan selection. For more information, visit www.meredith.edu/finaid to help your family make an informed alternative loan choice. Federal Stafford Loan (unsubsidized) Regardless of financial need, students completing the FAFSA are eligible to receive the Federal Stafford Loan (unsubsidized). Interest does accrue on the loan (current fixed rate of 6.8%) while the student is enrolled at Meredith; however, repayment is not required while the student is enrolled at least half time.
Federal PLUS Loan This loan program is available to assist parents or graduate/professional students in paying any remaining balance due to the College. This loan is not based on need for financial assistance; however, borrowers are subject to a credit analysis in order to qualify for the loan. The interest rate for PLUS Loans is fixed at 7.9%. Repayment begins each year after the loan is fully disbursed.
