He made it his mis sion to change that perception. In 1972 he founded MERIDA; the three syllables Me-ri-da roughly translate as ‘the intention to manufacture only beautiful and high quality products enabling anyone to reach their destination as pleasantly as possible.’ In his lifetime, Ike changed the face of bicycle manufacturing, establishing Taiwan as a global leader. A R B ON TAT E OF T H E R T E C HNOL O GY MERIDA’s philosophy is that you should work with industry experts when they can do something better than you. This is definitely true of carbon production. We collaborate with the best producers to ensure we are always at the leading edge of technology. Our partners are constantly developing highly refined production techniques for other industries, meaning that we can select the best manufacturer to satisfy the varying needs of each frame we develop. CARBON PRODUC TION IS VERY COMPLE X. Marketing has created mystique around carbon frame quality; labels such as high tensile, high modulus, super high modulus and ultra high modulus abound. These terms relate to carbon’s properties, not its quality. Toho or Torray are sometimes mentioned to add perceived credibility. Some brands say all carbon is the same, or that they use only ultra high modulus fibres. In reality, high performance carbon frames must incorporate many different fibre types, each carefully positioned to achieve the right technical properties. Our SCULTUR A frame weighs under 750 g, comprises 400 individual carbon sections, it takes over 45 hours to build. CARBON IS DEFINITELY NOT ALL THE SAME. Visually identical frames can vary in quality due to the level and mix of carbon fibres used. MERIDA use a CF number to demonstrate the performance level; 2 is the lowest, 5 the highest. Subtle t weaks to the carbon fibres used both save weight and improve performance.

We have produced cutting edge aluminium frames for many years, continually refining our knowledge and developing new technologies. We take great care in selecting or, in some cases, developing grades of aluminium appropriate to the demands of each bike we manufacture. For example, 6016 aluminium enables super thin wall thicknesses with amazing strength, ideal for demanding off-road riding and racing. 6066 aluminium is extremely light and durable, allowing manipulation to create the best possible stiffness to weight ratio. 6061 is the minimum grade we use, developed for the aerospace industry, enabling the production of lightweight and highly advanced frames. The way aluminium is treated and manipulated is as crucial as the grade selection. There are a number of processes involved: DOUBLE AND TRIPLE BUT TING Double butting describes tubes with t wo wall thicknes ses; thicker at the ends and thinner in the middle.

All our aluminium is heat treated. Frames are heated to very high temperatures (a T6 temper) then quickly cooled in water or oil to ensure the alloying elements donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t precipitate. Frames are subsequently heated to a lower temperature, artificially ageing and significantly strengthening them. HYDRO AND TECHNOFORMING Hydroforming involves the insertion of tubes into negative moulds. A hot emulsion of water and oil is forced through at pres sure, enabling them to be formed into complex shapes. Technoforming is a mechanical forming proces s, shaping the tubes by using negative moulds, at times combined with a metal internal core. Smooth welding, also known as double pass welding, refers to a second pass over the weld providing a clean organic look to the frame; at first glance you will be convinced it is carbon, not aluminium.

Triple butting describes tubes with three different wall thicknes ses along their length, optimising strength where it is needed but minimising weight in areas subjected to less stress.

Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.

Cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. The bike looks neat, whilst the cables are protected from moisture and dirt.

Ensures that internally routed cables and wires can move freely without causing any trouble whilst remaining easily accessible for ser vicing.

The seat and chainstay profile and carbon lay-up schedule are adapted to work like a flat leaf spring, absorbing surface bumps and reducing vibrations.

To protect the integrity of carbon frames, the fibres are bonded together with an epoxy resin with added nano particles, increasing impact resistance by up to 40%.

Carbon forks provide superb vibration damping and precise steering. All road bikes feature a full carbon fork; the steerer and fork blades are all made of carbon.

The aerodynamic s are based around a truncated NACA0028 teardrop profile (National Advisory Committee for Aeronautic s) which is truncated. Air moves around the tube as though the missing rear section of the teardrop were still there, saving weight by using less material.

When creating the individual carbon elements, an inflatable bladder is used to ensure there are no wrinkles inside the tube as these can add weight and create weakness. This results in a lighter, stiffer and stronger frame.

Using a tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" in the bottom creates superb stiffness and precise confidence inspiring steering.

Our proven high-end aluminium (6066) is extremely light and durable. Using triple butted wall thicknesses and hydroforming technology, we can tune the aluminium tubes to give the best possible stiffness to weight ratio.

Our latest grade of aluminium (6016) enables super thin wall thicknesses whilst delivering amazing strength, ideal for demanding off-road riding and racing.

We use a minimum of 6061 aluminium. The pay back is that it’s possible to make lighter and more advanced frames. We use an additional heat treatment and double-butted wall thicknesses to produce light and stiff frames.

A forged aluminium component under the front and rear caliper allowing heat to dissipate through CNC-milled cooling fins. Tests show that temperatures are reduced by around 35% and cooling times are reduced, optimising the performance of the brake.

Mounting the disc brake caliper directly saves weight as we do away with the adapter and 2 additional bolts. With less parts, set-up and maintenance are easier.

In-board brake mounts are positioned within the rear triangle to protect them. The caliper supported by the stronger chainstay is able to distribute braking forces better. Internal cable routing is also easier and neater via the chainstay.

A single-pivot rear suspension system optimised for XC riding and 1x drivetrains. A super light (80g) carbon rocker and linkage system create a light, efficient rear end, totally eliminating pedal-bob.

The lower shock mount moves with the system to deliver sensitive response characteristic s. Our engineers can precisely influence the transmission ratio and progression meaning a ‘Float Link’ rear suspension system appears to offer more travel than the model name suggests.

Bikes/frames with the symbol ‘Di2 Ready’ are prepared for the installation of Di2 technology with battery mounting in the seat post or within the fork steerer.

Selected front forks use a 100 mm wide through axle 12 or 15 mm in diameter to increase lateral stiffness. A 142 mm wide 12 mm rear axle fixed directly into the frame increases rear end stiffness whilst simplifying wheel removal and replacement.

New Boost standard – wider axle widths; 110 mm front and 14 8 mm rear, allowing a wider spoke angle for stiffer wheels, especially beneficial in 29ers.

Aero bikes deliver the best possible aerodynamic s but superb wind-tunnel performance data is useless if the rider can‘t get into the correct position. The ‘Flip Flop’ head allows seat angles to be optimised for comfort.

SIZE SPECIFIC WHEELS Dependent on frame size we offer 650b or 29er versions. The requirements of smaller riders (reduced stand over height, preferred lower cockpit) are best met by 650b on S and M frame sizes whilst at the other side of the spectrum L and XL only come with 29er wheels.

CARBON AND ALUMINIUM VERSIONS You will find a NINET Y-SIX to match your frame material requirements as well as your budget. We have the latest carbon technology with the superlight CF5 frame, a more budget friendly full carbon CF4 frame, a carbon front triangle with aluminium rear (CFA) through to a triple butted, hydroformed 6066 aluminium frame.

SMART ENTRY Cables, housings and brake hoses are clamped under tension to prevent rattling when the trail gets rough. All inlets are completely interchangeable to deal with Di2, hydraulic hoses, brake cable and gear cable housings etc.

R ACE LINK SUSPENSION A single-pivot rear suspension system optimised for XC riding and 1x drivetrains. Super light (80 g) carbon rocker and linkage system offer a light, efficient rear end, totally eliminating pedal-bob. Perfect for going “full gas” out of the saddle as well as ironing out the rough stuff.

BOOST TECHNOLOGY All models in our NINET Y-SIX range offer boost technology at the rear. The wider axle standard of 14 8 mm allows for a wider spoke angle, resulting in a stiffer and stronger wheel, especially beneficial in 29er wheels.

Our ‘do it all’ bike. Equipped with a modern trail bike geometry, the ONE-T WENT Y is hugely capable on rough trails due to its sophisticated float link rear suspension but also feels at home on more moderate marathon or alpine tracks. 120 mm bob free rear travel paired with 130 mm front suspension. Available with carbon main triangle combined with aluminium rear end or all aluminium. 29er and / or 650b options dependent upon frame size.

MODERN TR AIL BIKE GEOME TRY The geometry of the ONE-T WENT Y is all about a longer reach and a low centre of gravity which combined with a short stem and wide handlebar, delivers fun packed, confidence inspiring handling whilst keeping the bike agile and playful when the trail demands it.

TAPERED HEAD TUBE Rough trails and increased cornering speeds demand precise steering. Our tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/2" at the base, combined with a tapered fork, allow this, giving the rider the confidence to push into the next corner that little bit harder.

DROPPER POST A must on a modern trail bike, allowing the rider to get the saddle out of the way when the gradient gets steeper. All our ONE-T WENT Ys come with a dropper post featuring internal cable routing and remote levers, creating a cleaner look and allowing easier ‘on the go’ saddle height adjustment.

THROUGH A XLES Through axles don’t just increase the lateral stiffness of the wheel, they also add an extra level of security, preventing the wheel dropping out of the frame or fork. The ONE-T WENT Y range has 15 mm through axle forks and the rear end is equipped with 12 mm through axles. Wheel removal remains incredibly easy and fast.

ME TRIC SHOCK / TRUNNION MOUNT New metric shocks give our frame designers more flexibility by using a shorter shock with increased stroke. Combined with the ball bearing bushing of the upper trunnion mount, sensitivity is increased and the suspension performance can be perfectly tuned.

FLOAT LINK SUSPENSION The lower shock mount moves with the system to deliver plushness and pedalling efficiency. Our engineers can precisely influence the transmission ratio and progression, which means that a ‘Float Link’ system is very sensitive, delivering great support in mid-travel and the appearance of more than the 120 mm travel that the model name suggests.

MODERN TR AIL BIKE GEOME TRY The geometry of the brand new ONE-FORT Y has taken lots of influence from its bigger brother, the ONE-SIX T Y, by mimicking the super short chainstays (435 mm) for increased agility and playfulness on the trail. A long reach and low centre of gravity combined with a short stem and wide handlebar deliver fun packed, confidence inspiring handling.

1 X SPECIFIC DRIVE TR AIN Modern trail bikes are all about simplicity, durability and efficiency and 1x drivetrains offer a huge gear range whilst remaining lightweight. Building our frame around a 1x specific setup allows us to keep chainstays short, adding to the agility and playfulness of the bike. Perfect for today’s demanding trails.

T YRE CLEAR ANCE The new ONE-FORT Y has clearance for up to 2.6" wide tyres, allowing plenty of extra room to fit the right tyre for the track. Extra wide tyres deliver increased levels of grip and traction when the track gets rougher and more demanding, significantly improving the overall handling and riding experience.

PROVEN DESIGN Our ONE-SIX T Y is one of the biggest show stoppers in our full suspension range. Fully at home on the demanding tracks of the Enduro World Series, ridden by Toni Ferreiro, our ONE-SIX T Y has also gained press accolades. AGGRESSIVE GEOME TRY Race proven and loved by the international cycling pres s, our ONE-SIX T Y combines super short 430 mm chainstays for increased agility and playfulness, with a long reach, slack head angles and a low centre of gravity, delivering an aggressive enduro geometry.

CARBON OR ALUMINIUM Available with our proven frame with carbon front end and 6016 aluminium rear or as a new all aluminium version. Carrying only a small amount of extra weight over the carbon/aluminium version, this offers a great alternative for riders preferring an all-metal setup or those on a tight budget.

NE W BIG.NINE / SE VEN TFS FR AME The New BIG.NINE/SE VEN TFS frame has benefited from a complete makeover for 2018. The introduction of slim tube shapes create a new look and a more relaxed geometry, through a shorter top tube and a higher head tube, offer a more upright riding position and enhanced trail visibility. The new frame also comes equipped with kickstand and fender mounts.

DROPPER POST READY All models down to the BIG.NINE/SEVEN 100 feature a 30.9 mm seatpost, the enhanced connection area increases the strength around the top tube / seat tube join and allows the option of fitting a dropper seat post.

CARBON S-FLE X SEAT POST This unique S-Flex seat post is constructed from carbon, which already has vibration absorbing properties, but we’ve given it a square profile for additional flex and comfort. Available on selected models.

BIG NINE CF5 Superlight, using the highest quality carbon fibres and an EPS core (frame weight approx. 850 g BIG.NINE–M, including paint). Aero profiled down tube, leaf spring profiled chain and seat stays for maximum comfort. Hardtail fun with a downhill focus. Our 650b+ hardtail delivers masses of grip, combining a long, slack geometry with established trail bike features like dropper posts, 1x drivetrain and boost technology for the ultimate trail fun.

MODERN TR AIL GEOME TRY Our BIG.TR AIL is hugely influenced by our full suspension trail bike range sharing the same long, flat, low geometry. An enduro influenced 67.5° head angle and 130 mm fork combined with extra short 427.5 mm chainstays promote agile handling. All frame sizes have a 35 mm stem complementing the long top tube and 760 mm wide bars.

DUR ABLE ALUMINIUM FR AME A triple butted and hydroformed 6066 series aluminium frame built to withstand even the harshest trail abuse. Through our special chainstay yoke we achieve huge tyre clearance whilst allowing space for a variety of chain ring sizes.

2.8" T YRES / 650B+ WHEELS 650b+ wheels featuring 35-40 mm wide inner width rims and 2.8" tyres are hugely capable when the going gets rough but also offer astounding grip and traction, without being draggy or sluggish. All models offer tubeless ready rims and tyre configurations making a conversion to tubeless incredibly straight for ward.

DROPPER POST A must on a modern trail hard tail, allowing the rider to get the saddle out of the way when the gradient gets steeper. All BIG.TR AIL s come with a dropper post featuring internal cable routing and remote levers, creating a cleaner look and allowing easier ‘on the go’ saddle height adjustment.

BOOST TECHNOLOGY The entire BIG.TR AIL range features Boost technology at the front and rear. The wider axle standard of 110 mm (front) and 14 8 mm (rear) allows for a wider spoke angle, resulting in stiffer and stronger wheels as well as increased clearance, especially beneficial on 650b+ wheels.

LIGHT WEIGHT ALUMINIUM FR AME Our MAT TS is one of the longest running models in the MERIDA range and comes equipped with a lightweight 6061 double butted aluminium frame which, despite its low weight, is extremely durable and doesn’t rust. The frame is 26" wheel specific and comes equipped with either disc or V-brakes.

DISC OR V-BR AKE Acceleration is hugely important, as is keeping your bike under control when you need to slow down. Disc brakes are powerful and reliable as the braking surface is in the centre of the wheel, away from the mud. V-brakes are light, durable and easy to maintain.

26" WHEEL SPECIFIC 26" wheels are easy to accelerate, super durable and a long standing favourite of the mountain bike world. They’re also slightly lighter in comparison to their bigger brothers and easy to manoeuver around tight corners and bends. To top it all, they conveniently fit into a car boot.

100 MM FRONT SUSPENSION Our MAT TS range features 100 mm travel suspension forks throughout, providing the ideal travel for either tough trails or the road. Some come with a lockout function, making climbing out of the saddle that little bit easier.

Our JULIET range of female specific bikes includes versions of our best-selling road, mountain and fitness models. Our low step CROSSWAY and CROSSWAY URBAN ranges are also designed for women.

ENHANCED COMFORT Our JULIET road and mountain bike ranges are tailored to meet the subtly different dimensions of the female body through the introduction of, for example, shorter top tubes. To further enhance comfort, the head tubes of our JULIET range are slightly longer, creating a more relaxed riding position and improving visibility of the trail or road ahead.

CARBON OR ALUMINIUM We offer a selection of super lightweight carbon models and lightweight aluminium bikes to suit all needs and budgets.

INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING On models down to JULIET 80D, cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. This provides a neater appearance, whilst protecting the cables from moisture and dirt.

FEMALE GEOME TRY Narrower handlebars are specific to female riders and specially designed saddles are used throughout the range. The spring rates of selected JULIET suspension forks are adjusted to suit lower rider weights.

CARBON FORKS All our SCULTUR A, SILEX and SPEEDER models are equipped with full carbon forks. Using shock absorbing carbon for the fork legs as well as the steerer tube reduces weight and improves comfort.

Performance bikes for kids, with componentry carefully tailored to their needs. The range covers every milestone, from first bike to a gateway into ‘real’ cycling.

Growing With Them Our CHAMPION and TEAM models are built around a very small adult frame with 26" wheels. As the child grows, the wheels can be swapped for 650b wheels, meaning the bike will fit your child for longer.

SIMPLICIT Y AND LIGHT WEIGHT Many of our bikes feature rigid forks. This helps to keep the weight down, which is a big advantage for much lighter riders. Gears are also kept to a minimum, avoiding confusion for young riders, again reducing weight.

JUST LIKE THE GROWN UPS All kids’ bike frames are made with the same 6061 lightweight aluminium we use in our adult bikes, we don’t cut any corners. They’re also painted and lacquered in the same way, so the bikes can still look great even after a few tough knocks.

Our lightweight racer is at the cutting edge of design, powering our ProTour teams to Grand Tour Victories. Our SCULTUR A DISC has been highly praised in the press for ‘really intelligent design features’ (Gran Fondo), as ‘a superb example of the emerging disc-braked race bike’ (Road CC) and ‘extremely quick, accelerating like a whippet and climbing very well too thanks to impressive frame and wheelset stiffness’ (Cycling Plus).

AERO PROFILED TUBING Our wind tunnel learnings from the REACTO design project have been used to create a smaller aerodynamically optimised ‘NACA Fastback’ tube profile. The more extreme truncation of the tear drop shaped tubes enables perfect airflow at the lowest possible weight.

LIGHT JUST GOT LIGHTER In our constant quest for peak performance we have reduced weight even further, by modifying the carbon lay up we have achieved a weight for the CF4 caliper frameset of less than 800 g whilst the CF4 Disc frameset tips the scales at 900 g.

PRECISE STEERING All SCULTUR A models feature a full carbon fork with a tapered steerer to give precise confidence inspiring steering. Alloy and CF2 carbon models feature a ‘regular’ 1 1/8" to 1 1/2" taper. The high end CF4 frame has a slimmed down front profile and uses a 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" taper.

BOLT THROUGH A XLES All SCULTUR A DISC feature 12 mm bolt through axles for greater wheel stiffnes s and precise disc alignment when replacing wheels. CF4 models use the R.A.T system, super fast to open and close.

28 MM T YRES The SCULTUR A DISC can be fitted with 28 mm wide tyres, providing maximum traction and transferring the improved braking power to the road. Bigger tyre volumes also offer improved comfort providing the SCULTUR A DISC with even greater all round ability.

DISC COOLING TECHNOLOGY A forged aluminium part under the rear disc brake caliper draws heat away through CNC-milled cooling fins giving 35 % less heat build up and faster temperature reduction for a stable braking performance.

SCULTUR A CF4 Superlite CF4 frame (sub 800 g – M/L). Aggressive ProTour proven geometry with truncated ‘NACA Fastback’ profiled down tube and seat tube and slim 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" tapered head tube for aerodynamic s. BB386 for exceptional power transfer. Narrow profiled seat stays reduce vibration and deliver comfort. Caliper version runs quick release hubs, Disc version run flat mount rear disc brake with disc cooler technology. Completely redesigned for 2018. The wind tunnel honed shape improves aerodynamics by 5%, reducing weight through a new carbon lay up. Simplicity was the key objective; overly complex solutions create a nightmare for mechanics resulting in costly workshop bills. The difference in aerodynamic efficiency between caliper and disc is less than one watt, with all that speed on tap, disc brakes make real sense for high speed descending.

STREAMLINED COMFORT Comfort has always been a key feature of the REACTO. Many aero bikes suffer from a harsh ride due to the larger tube sections and seat posts. Not so on the REACTO, where our profiled seat post behaves like a conventional seat post providing a good level of comfort amongst other aero bikes.

INTEGR ATED COCKPIT Our high performance carbon models with the CF4 frame feature a completely integrated Vision Metron cockpit to improve aerodynamic s and hide the Di2 junction box. The integration also provides a very clean, organic and modern appearance.

BR AKING OPTIONS For the first time, the REACTO is available in both caliper and disc brake options. We use direct mount caliper and flat mount disc brake standards (with our disc cooler front and rear) for the best braking performance. A flat mount rear caliper is mounted on the chainstay which is stronger for dissipating braking forces, but also keeps it protected inside the rear triangle.

A BIK E T H AT WIL L L E A D YOU A ROUND IN CIR CL E S Our first ever track bike is based on the REACTO aero frame and it can withstand the most brutal pedal forces with ease; it’s even UCI certified to prove it. With lots of rear dropout adjustability a broad range of chain ring sizes can be fitted without needing to adjust chain length. Hidden fixing points on the carbon fork allow a front brake to be fitted. The bike can even be turned into a fixie.

INVISIBLE DESIGN Perfectly designed for an impressive look: It is difficult to spot the tube-to-tube transitions of our new ‘One Piece Seat tube’.

UCI CERTIFIED Not everybody goes this far: Right from the start, the frame of our new REACTO TR ACK is UCI certified and therefore is ready to be raced – at any level.

PRECISE STEERING Super light yet super strong. The full carbon fork is tapered with 1 1/8" bearings at the top and 1 1/2" at the bottom for maximum performance and minimum weight. The fixing fork for the front brake has also been concealed so that our track demon can be turned into a stylish urban bike with ease.

BUILT FOR SPEED Speed is everything – that is raison d'être for track bikes. The down tube and seat tube feature the ‘NACA Fastback’ tube profile which, due to its truncated drop shape, enables perfect airflow at the lowest possible weight.

T YRE CHOICE As comfort is not a major priority for a track bike, it’s fitted with fast rolling 23 mm tyres.

ADJUSTABILIT Y The adjustability of the horizontal dropouts on our REACTO TR ACK is vast, allowing a broad range of chain ring sizes to be used without the need to adjust the chain.

Fast and lightweight, the SPEEDER shares its genes with road bikes. The geometry with its long head tube delivers a more upright and comfortable riding position. Ideal for fast commuting or fitness rides.

COMFORT GEOME TRY SPEEDERs share their genetic make-up with our former RIDE comfort geometry. The combination of a long head tube and shorter top tube provides a more relaxed seating position. The seat stays join the seat tube at a low level, allowing seat post flex and reducing vibration from the rear wheel.

CARBON FORKS All models from 100 and above are equipped with a full carbon tapered fork. Carbon has great vibration absorbing properties in addition to being lightweight, so ride quality is improved. The carbon tapered steerer provides great stiffness to the front end of the bike, delivering precise confidence inspiring handling.

DISC BR AKES All SPEEDERs from 200 and above are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes for powerful, all weather stopping power. The 100 level is equipped with mechanical disc brakes.

SOPHISTICATED FR AME We use 6066 series aluminium, the highest level generally used in bike production, its metallic composition allows it to be extensively hydroformed (a process of forcing a hot emulsion of water and oil through tubes in a negative mould). This allows us to vary wall thicknes ses and tune the frame to be both strong where it needed and flexible where required.

INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING Cables are routed through the frame to keep the look of the bike neat and uncluttered. This also protects the cables from moisture and dirt.

For those rides, the SILE X makes total sense; our most comfortable and versatile road bike ever. With its modern MTB inspired geometry; long top and head tubes and short stem it offers nimble, confidence inspiring handling.

SHIF TING SIMPLICIT Y The majority of SILEX models are fitted with 1x drivetrains for simplicity, resulting in weight reduction and fewer moving parts. A 1x can deliver 98 % of the gear range of a 50-34 compact chainset with an 11-32 road set up.

GO BIG As standard the SILEX comes with 35 mm tyres but will happily accommodate up to a 4 4 mm tyre or a 2.2" 650b wheel.

INNOVATIVE T YRES Max xis created an exclusive 35c semi-slick tyre with side knobbles for our SILEX. Featuring Max xis Silk worm technology and puncture protection. Tyres can be inflated to high pressure for fast road riding, or slightly deflated to benefit from the added traction provided by the side knobbles on rougher surfaces.

L ATEST TECHNOLOGY Featuring 12 mm bolt through axles for maximum frame stiffness, making wheel alignment much easier when refitting. The flat mount rear brake is mounted on the chainstay for better dissipation of braking forces and protecting it from damage in the rear triangle. Disc cooler technology draws heat away through CNC-milled cooling fins, particularly important when you are fully loaded.

ERGONOMIC THINKING An innovative addition to the handlebar substantially increases the surface area, providing the ergonomic benefit of spreading the rider’s weight, reducing pressure on the hands and creating a very natural forearm position when riding on the tops.

FULLY LOADED In line with the design ethos of versatility and go anywhere, the SILEX is available with a wide range of luggage and accessory options including frame bags and big saddle bags. Unique quick mount mudguards are available, the quick mounting adds to the versatility – transfer from fast training bike to winter bike quickly and easily.

ADAPTABILIT Y Most of our CYCLO CROSS models have the ability to add mudguards making them more versatile, particularly when used as a training or commuting bike.

CARBON OR ALUMINIUM Lightweight carbon or sophisticated aluminium frame options. Key differences, other than construction materials, are that the carbon frame has a 12 mm bolt through rear axle adding to frame stiffness and Press-Fit 86 bottom bracket whilst the triple butted and hydroformed 6066 aluminium frame has conventional quick release and threaded bottom bracket.

BOLT THROUGH REAR A XLE Our carbon frames feature a 12 x 142 mm bolt through rear axle to provide extra frame stiffness, it’s also very handy for realigning disc s when reinstalling a wheel.

DISC BR AKES All CYCLO CROSS models are equipped with disc brakes, providing high performance braking isolated from the weather and muddy conditions by their location at the wheel hub rather than conventional rim brakes. Models 600 and above are equipped with hydraulic disc brakes.

CARBON FORK The majority of CYCLO CROSS models feature a full carbon tapered fork with a 15 mm bolt through axle. The bolt through provides stiffness for the axle whilst the tapered carbon steerer provides vertical stiffness, providing very precise steering and enhanced confidence in corners (from 400 and above).

Made from high quality lightweight aluminium, with the ability to mount mudguards, racks and kickstands, the CROSSWAY range is the perfect choice for everyday riding. Also available as a low step through frame.

NE W FR AME Our new CROSSWAY TFS frame looks more like a mountain bike with a steeply sloping top tube for easier mounting and hidden cable routing underneath the down tube. The tapered head tube provides extra steering precision and the seat tube is 30.9â&#x20AC;&#x2030;mm, enabling a dropper seat post to be fitted, if required, for added confidence.

COMFORT Our CROSSWAY models are equipped with suspension forks and suspension seat posts, on most models, to iron out any bumps in the path. Adjustable stems are also fitted, providing a perfect riding position. On entry level models, a quill stem allows for significant height adjustment. The exceptions are the sportier models that feature a regular seat post and stem.

LOW STEP THROUGH FR AMES Most CROSSWAY models are also available in a low step through frame, providing an opportunity to find the perfect fit without compromising on equipment and functionality.

SAFE T Y FIRST All models feature tyres with reflective strips on their sidewalls, improving visibility on the road.

A faster, more contemporary version of our best-selling CROSSWAY. The key differences are the tube shapes, the rigid fork, and lack of suspension seat post and adjustable stem, making the URBAN lighter and more efficient. Ideal for urban commuting, equipped with allen key security wheel skewers, most models are fitted with mudguards and kick stands. All models within the range can have these fitted, along with racks. Also available as a low step through frame.

SECURE Normally, wheels are attached with quick release skewers for easy removal – essential for fast wheel changes in the Tour de France but not so desirable when leaving your bike in the city. All models feature security skewers which are undone with an allen key wrench.

LIGHT AND EFFICIENT The biggest difference between the two CROSSWAY families is the suspension. The Urban range is equipped with a rigid fork which saves significant weight – on the CROSSWAY URBAN 500, the fork is even made of carbon, so it’s even lighter. The URBAN range doesn’t require adjustable stems or suspension seat posts, again reducing weight.

POWERFUL BR AKING All CROSSWAY URBAN models come with disc brakes; Disc brakes offer superior braking in all weathers compared to conventional rim brakes as the braking surface is positioned near the centre of the wheel away from puddles and dirt.

SAFE T Y FIRST All models feature tyres with reflective strips on their sidewalls, improving visibility on the road.

FULLY LOADED The Urban range comes complete with mudguards and a kickstand (from CROSSWAY URBAN 100 and above) so you are ready for anything the moment you leave the store.

PERFORMANCE Our eBIG.TRAIL, eONE-T WENT Y and eONE-SIX T Y are all powered by Shimano’s STePS E8000 motor. They are very closely related to their non-powered cousins and simply add ‘E8000 factor’ to the mix. The Shimano E8000 system and 500 Wh battery are focussed on serious off road performance riding with no motor drag. The compact E8000 series motor enables us to create geometry solutions that make our performance E-bikes feel just like riding a ‘real’ bike.

Our 27.5" hardtail eBIG.SE VEN and our 29er eBIG.NINE are available with the well proven combination of STePS E6000 motor and E8000 battery or with e complete E8000 system for the more performance orientated rider.

SMART ENTRY Our ‘Smart Entry’ is far more than pure aesthetic s: our technology gives the eONE-T WENT Y perfect, rattle free internal cable routing and makes for a relaxed and (more importantly) reliable trail ride.

BAL ANCED GEOME TRY With just 439 mm long chain stays the eONE-T WENT Y is blessed with super playful handling. The long reach in combination with a short stem and wide handlebars offer tonnes of control even in the trickiest situations.

BOOSTED PERFORMANCE The eONE-T WENT Y benefits from the advantages of the extra 6 mm width of the ‘Boost 12 x 14 8’ standard. Shallower spoke angles and through axles make for stiffer wheels. The chain line moves outwards – necessary to create short chain stays delivering agility and massive grip from the b+ tyres.

ME TRIC SHOCK / RS TRUNNION MOUNT New metric shocks allow our designers more flexibility by using a shorter shock with increased stroke. Combined with the ball bearing bushing of the upper trunnion mount shock sensitivity is increased and the suspension behaviour can be perfectly tuned.

Our eONE-SIX T Y is an enduro full suspension bike with integrated shuttle ser vice.

PL AYFUL IN E VERY FIBRE The geometry of our performance bike says it all: 4 40 mm reach (Size M), 439 mm chain short stays, 75° seat and 66.5° head angle – you simply can’t squeeze more fun into an E-full suspension.

SMART ENTRY Our enduro-bikes have a tougher life than any other category. It’s clear that cables and hoses have no business being run outside the frame. Our super smart ‘Smart Entry’ technology ensures that everything including the hose for the dropper post stays where it belongs without rattling all the way down the track even when the going gets rough everything.

FULL GAS WITH BOOST 6 mm extra hub spacing at the rear: The eBIG.TR AIL comes with the new ‘Boost 12 x 14 8’ standard and through axles front and rear. The shallower spoke angle allows for an even stiffer wheel. On top of that, the chain line moves outwards – an important requirement for short chainstays.

ULTR A SHORT CHAINSTAYS 434 mm long chainstays are perfect for delivering a super playful handling. Thanks to ‘Boost’ hubs and the super compact size of the STePS E8000 motor, the chainstays are not much longer than the ones on a non-powered trail bike.

Our eBIG.TOUR is our ‘Light MTB’. Depending on frame size the eBIG.TOUR is available with 29er or 27.5" options. Powered by the trusted STePS E6000 motor with 500 Wh battery and featuring a 100 mm suspension fork. A short seat tube delivers a lower step over height whilst the longer headtube and shorter top tube puts the rider in a more comfortable position.

LOCKOUT FORKS The suspension fork can be locked out – either directly or via a ‘remote control’ lever on the handlebar. Perfect for smooth climbs or when you push hard on the pedals while standing up.

INTERNAL CABLE ROUTING / SMART ENTRY We feature internal cable routing on all our eBIG.TOUR models, cables are routed through the frame, entering and exiting through smooth sockets. Only a clever system for our internal guiding and fixing guarantees reliable and rattle free routing and gives the bike a cleaner look.

X-TAPER Tapered head tube with 1 1/8" bearings in the top and 1 1/2" in the bottom. Combined with a tapered steerer tube (the respective part on the fork) creates superb stiffness and precise confidence-inspiring steering.

SIZE SPECIFIC WHEELS Dependent on frame size we offer 650b or 29er wheels. Based on the requirements of smaller riders (reduced stand over height, preferred lower cockpit) our small frames are 650b only whilst at the other side of the spectrum L and XL only come with 29er wheels.

The core element of the system is the super light and compact DU-E8000 drive unit, which delivers a powerful but natural riding feel. But it is not just its performance that lets you have more fun, it is the way a manufacturer like MERIDA can built amazing mountain bikes around it. The DU-E8000 drive unit is so small that chain stays can be constructed very short, which increases an eMTB’s agility in rough terrain. Furthermore the drive unit’s width is comfortably slim, so the Q-factor – the distance between the pedals – does not exceed what you encounter on regular mountain bikes. Both aspects add to the riding feel as natural and that of a ‘real’ mountain bike. You can control the drive unit’s impressive performance intuitively with the FIREBOLT switch on the left side of your handlebar. Here you have the choice between ‘Eco’, ‘ Trail’ and ‘Boost’ operating modes so that the right amount of support for every situation is always at your fingertips. The ideal groupset to be combined with the E8000 system is SHIMANO’s X T M8000, which offers precise shifting under difficult conditions and a SHADOW+ rear derailleur. Moreover, the X T Di2 even comes with the innovative Multishift feature and lets you adjust the speed of gear changes via E-Tube.

E8000 – SO, HOW DOES IT RIDE? The drive unit of the E8000 system comes with a special firmware that SHIMANO optimized for the particular way mountain bikers ride their bikes in challenging and constantly changing terrain. When you start pedaling, the system engages nearly without delay, which lets you handle situations super intuitively. Equally important is that the pedal assist disengages just as quickly as soon as you release the pressure on the pedals. You do not want the motor to continue pushing you for ward when you go into a tight turn or have to deal with an obstacle. The super precise E8000 system instead gives you extra power exactly when you need it.

POWER WALK ASSIST / PUSHING AID SHIMANO even adapted the standard pushing aid to the particular needs of mountain bikers. This called for a new name, and thus the E8000’s pushing aid becomes ‘Power Walk Assist’. Even if the assist does not exceed 6 km/h – as specified by regulations – it is notably more powerful and enables a rider to push their e-bike up even the steepest sections.
