ANNA CAPRA & TONI DOUGLAS // MCC WORKOUT BUDDIES
What do you like most about the MCC?
Anna: The people! I’m working out with someone’s grandma or grandpa, and that truly is the best thing about it. I love it so much!
Toni: I love that when I show up, I’m immediately welcomed by friendly faces at the front desk!
What’s your typical workout routine or what do you usually use most at the facility?
Anna: I bounce around from machine to machine. I have a playbook downloaded on my phone and typically follow a workout program!
Toni: Usually, I’m using the free weights and squat racks. I enjoy lifting!
When you’re not here at the MCC, how do you enjoy spending your time?
Anna: I’m a hairstylist, so if I’m not at the gym, then I’m working. I also love being outside with my dogs and fiancé.
Toni: I’m currently working on my golf game! So, I like to head to the range with my husband.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you and your family?
Anna: I’m Italian, so I make homemade spaghetti sauce. It takes 12 hours to cook, and it’s phenomenal!
Toni: My husband and I met each other while playing basketball in college!
If you won the lottery, what’s the first thing you would do?
Anna: I would 1000% buy a dog farm.
Toni: I would put a sauna in the Merriam Community Center, then I’d take an all inclusive vacation!!
When you have 30 minutes of free-time, how do you pass the time?
Anna: Taking my dogs on a hot-girl walk throughout Merriam!
Toni: I would work in my house or play fetch with my two dogs!

Maryellen Potts, Ph.D.
With more than 20 years of experience and a background in dance and correct postural alignment, Maryellen specializes in yoga and strength training. She believes fitness should improve physical functioning while being fun and habit–forming.
Cecilia Walther, NASM-CPT
With a degree in exercise science and extensive coaching experience, Cecilia loves to help others reach their fitness goals. She believes physical activity should be enjoyable and become a lifestyle.

Orientations and Evaluations
General Fitness Center Orientation
If you’re new to the gym or interested in learning more about how to use the fitness equipment, we can help! Ask any fitness attendant how to safely and effectively use the strength and cardio machines.
Fitness Evaluation
Receive a personal evaluation of your current fitness level. The evaluation includes testing your cardiovascular health and strength, mobility, and flexibility levels. You’ll receive an explanation of your results and have the option to talk about creating a plan to help you reach your goals. Dress in comfortable athletic clothing and wear closed–toe shoes.

Youth Fitness Orientation
Youth members between the ages of 12–15 are welcome to use the fitness center after completing a free youth fitness center orientation and are under parent/guardian supervision. Sign up at the Welcome Desk.
Fitness Program Consultation
Work with a fitness consultant to help establish a program based on your goals. During this one–hour visit, a fitness professional will help you identify your fitness goals, formulate a plan, and walk you through the program to ensure you’re comfortable with the routine.
