The helmet alerts you to potential rear-end collisions and crashes, and if you fall off your bike, a message with your location is sent to whoever you wish. adfahren liegt im Trend. Die Zahlen sprechen für sich. Rund 78 Millionen Fahrräder sind in Deutschland in Gebrauch. Für den alltäglichen Weg zur Schule oder Arbeit, für den urbanen Lieferverkehr, für ein abwechslungsreiches Sport- und Freizeitvergnügen – es gibt viele gute Gründe, um in die Pedale zu treten. Entsprechend groß ist die Vielfalt der Fahrradwelt, die sich auf der EUROBIKE 2019 präsentiert. Das Produktspektrum reicht von Rennrädern und Mountainbikes über Lasten- und Liegeräder bis hin zu Hollandrädern und E-Bikes samt Fahrradkomponenten und -zubehör. Tatsächlich sind Fahrräder aller Art sehr gefragt. Das macht das Bike Business zur Wachstumsbranche. Radfahren ist beliebt. Gerade deshalb ist es notwendig, die Rahmenbedingungen zu verbessern. Hierfür stellt die Bundesregierung jedes Jahr gut 200 Millionen Euro bereit. Wir investieren in Infrastrukturen vor Ort, in Radwege an Bundesstraßen und überregionale Radschnellwege. Vor allem ist uns an mehr Sicherheit für Radfahrer gelegen. Daher haben wir ein Förderprogramm für LKW-Abbiegeassistenzsysteme gestartet. Auch in den kommenden Jahren werden wir unsere Förderung auf hohem Niveau fortsetzen. So wollen wir noch mehr Menschen zum Umsteigen auf das Fahrrad motivieren. Dies hilft nicht zuletzt, den Verkehr in den Innenstädten zu entlasten und die Luftqualität zu verbessern. Radfahren passt zum Zeitgeist. Es steht für nachhaltige und klimafreundliche Mobilität. Für Gesundheit und Fitness. Für unkomplizierte, aber bewegende Momente im Alltag. Oder schlichtweg für pures Urlaubsvergnügen – wie hier am Bodensee-Radweg. Dass Radfahren zudem ein wichtiger Wirtschaftsfaktor ist, zeigt sich in besonderer Weise auf der EUROBIKE in Friedrichshafen. Die Weltleitmesse lädt als Schaufenster für Innovationen alle ein, die in der Fahrradbranche Rang und Namen haben. Sie ist ein Treffpunkt für alle, die sich in der Fahrradwelt zu Hause fühlen. ycling is the trend. The figures speak for themselves. There are currently around 78 million bikes in use in Germany. For the daily commute to school or work, for urban deliveries, for various sports and recreational activities â&#x20AC;&#x201C; there are many good reasons to pedal. This is reflected in the broad diversity of the bicycle industry presented here at the EUROBIKE 2019. The spectrum ex-tends from road bikes and mounting bikes to cargo bikes and recumbent bikes, Dutch bikes and e-bikes, along with bi-cycle parts and accessories. Indeed, bicycles of all kinds are in great demand today. The bike business is booming. Cycling is popular. It is neces-sary therefore that we work to ensure better conditions for cyclists. Every year, the German government makes more than 200 million euros available to invest in local infrastructures, cycle paths along main roads, and nationwide cycling superhighways. Our primary focus is on enhancing the safety of cyclists. With this in mind, we have started a funding programme for advanced truck driver assistance systems to enable safe turning manoeuvers. This funding will continue to be prioritised over the coming years. We want to encourage more people to get on their bikes. Alongside many other benefits, this will help not only to reduce traffic congestion in town centres, but also improve the air quality.

Cycling is in keeping with the zeitgeist. It stands for sustainable and green mobility. For health and fitness. For uncomplicated, yet moving moments in our daily lives. Or simply for pure holiday fun â&#x20AC;&#x201C; such as here along the Lake Constance cycle path. That cycling is also an important economic factor, is arguably no more evident than at the EUROBIKE in Friedrichshafen. As the showcase for innovations, the leading global trade fair extends its invitation to everybody who is anybody in the bike business. It is a meeting point for all who feel at home in the world of cycling.
