THE POWER OF ONE...

UNITY DAY IN NEWARK

Marvin Cratch the Executive Director of "The Power Of One UNITY DAY Festival and his wife Adrienne are an amazing powerful team for the Lord In 2012 after a bullet came through the window of Good Samaritan Church, which at that time was located on Avon Avenue; the pastor gave Marvin Cratch a challenge to do something to change the community. Then God gave Marvin a vision to shut down the violence on Avon Avenue just for one day and within 40 days the vision came into fruition with the help of Newark Council President, Mildred C. Crump, then Councilwoman-At-Large, Mayor Ras Baraka, then Newark South Ward Councilman and their teams, Good Samaritan Church and the participation of ten local pastors and their congregations. On that day men and women of God, community activist and city officials spoke and inspired the crowd and over 4,000 people attended. We had music and performers; more than 50 vendors provided food, merchandise and services; and the setup and cleanup crew was second to none. Unity Day was a big success with no rain, incident or confusion. Our second festival, which was held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 with the theme "Healing the Land" from 2 Chronicles 7:14 was what this festival's main focus was all about. As with the previous year, we

locked down Avon Avenue from Treacy Avenue to 14th Street - 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. But at 9:00 am the Shofar was blown, everything stopped and we all began to pray. On the main stage singers, dancers, ministers and political leaders filled the airwaves with words of truth, encouragement and worship to God. Healing took place with a God-inspired phenomenon as pastors and ministers of over 10 denominations gathered around a 10 foot wooden cross presented by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal; and with a hammer and a nail every one of them nailed their difference to the cross, as a

gesture of unification with a song of praise and fervent prayer. God did it once again and it is marvelous in our eyes! The Power Of One 3C Foundation was created to establish a relationship between the church, community and city; To develop a platform were parishioners and neighbors can volunteer time and donate money toward projects that will assist in the redevelopment of their local community; and to promote fellowship among the local churches to become one body. Their Goal The Unity Day Festival was created to unite the community, church and city through corporate prayer, music, activities, vendors who provide delicious

food from varied nationalities, merchandise of all types and valuable information from local and national brand corporations. The goal is to entertain, educate and enhance the quality of life within the community. Their Vision We believe that when everyone works together within the community we can address problems and deliver outcomes that are not easily or effectively achieved by working alone. Unity is central to the way we work, deliver services and produce innovations. We also believe that collaborative relationships work best for the community and with the combination of effort and expertise it will produce benefits greater than those achieved by working alone.

Transformed and Alone by Curtis D. Mincey We are told to not be conformed to the ways of this world. We are encouraged not to be shaped, molded or influenced by the traditions and culture of this world. We are instructed to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. We are to put forth some effort into being the new creature that Christ has made us to be. But the truth be told that non conformity, that transformation can be very difficult if we resist, and very lonely when we submit. The difficulty occurs when we try to straddle the fence and keep one foot in the world and the other foot in the church. Our minds are confused our actions are corrupt and our lives are perverted. There is no awareness of the Holy Spirit or the presence of God. We wander around the wilderness of this life exhausted, famished, and thirsty. This I believe is the result of failing to; deny self, pick up the cross and seriously follow Jesus. When I or anyone else fails to walk with the Master and to sit at the feet of the Master. Then a rigid conformity with the speech, the lifestyle, and politics of this world will be the end result. But when you and I are ready to walk away from everyone and venture out on this christian walk alone. Then that's when the mind is renewed and the transformation takes place. But the unfortunate reality is many of us don't like being alone. We instinctively want to belong to a group. That's why we make friends with people who look the same and speak the same, and

have the same interest as we do. It's in our DNA. God made us social creatures. But if we would be willing to embrace a new truth. That we have been adopted into a new family. That even though we may have walked away from family and friends. Even though we may have turned our backs on the shackles of tradition and culture. Even though we have been called out by God to follow Jesus. We do not walk alone. We actually gain our freedom. We have become a part of a new family, with new mother's and sister's and brother's. We have become part of a more peacemaking, loving, graceful, merciful, godly society within society. That has been lead by the Holy Spirit to do God's will over our own. Our values change. Our motives change. Our desires change. Our lives change. But that change happens when you and I are willing to come out of that comfort zone of national conformity and are willing to embrace Christ likeness. There's nothing wrong with being unique, just be uniquely following Christ. There's nothing wrong with culture, just be a part of a God fearing culture. Because the truth be told transformation can seem like a lonely and painful process. But you and I are never alone. We have the Holy Spirit inside us; and a whole body of like minded individuals who are following the Lord; and doing the will of God right along side of us.

5 Health Tips For MEN Maintaining a great quality of life is largely determined by one factor your physical health. When it comes to building and sticking to a healthy way of life, working out and a healthy diet are the keys to making it work. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle takes a lot of dedication and we've got some men's health and fitness tips to help you take it to the next level: • Exercise regularly - This practice is health and has tremendous emotional and physical benefits. As well as lowering your risk for high blood pressure, diabetes, high blood cholesterol, osteoporosis, and obesity, exercising regularly can help elevate our general mood and reducing the threat for depression.

Health Transformation • Include Weight Training in Your Exercise Routine - Studies have shown that as resistance training as little as once a week can improve muscle strength. Even the busiest among us can find time for that. • Warm Up Before Working Out - Static stretching before working out doesn't have much impact on the body. However, research has shown that those who performed a muscle warming routine, like walking lunges and high skips before their workout are able to enhance their performance and help prevent injuries. • Take Care of Your Skin - Always use sun screen and be as picky about your skin care products as your hair care products. Check your labels for any products containing Sodium Laureth Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These are chemical compounds and will strip your skin of its natural and necessary moisture. • Drink More Tea - Besides H2O, tea the best beverage you can drink for health, especially green tea. Drinking green tea on a regular basis can improve cognition and memory in men. Ministry Transformation

Ideas On Growing Your Ministry

This isn’t just for senior pastors. And this article isn’t just about Sunday or w e e k d a y services. This advice is for ever y church leader who is responsible for a m i n i s t r y, program or event.

1. You don’t need a logo. A new logo isn’t the key to successful ministry. Life change is the key to successful ministry. Only Jesus can change lives. Yes, there are times when you’ll need to update your branding; however, it’s not going to make or break your ministry. 2. Your fancy flyers won’t help. 80% of the people who show up to a weekend service come with a friend who invites them. That same principle applies to your ministry as well. If people aren’t inviting their friends, that’s likely a ministry problem and not a promotions problem. 3. Put people first. Life change happens most often within the context of relationships. If your ministry isn’t helping people engage in relational connections (inside and outside of the church), then your ministry will not grow. 4.

Ministry Transformation 1. Lead your ministry. You should focus on that. You aren’t gifted at promotions (even though you think you are). You should let communications professionals focus on that, and stop fighting against the people who are trying to help you. Spend more time doing ministry and less time trying to promote your ministry. 2. Remember: print is dead. (this coming from someone who writes books). It’s highly likely that whatever you’re printing for your audience will just end up in a trash can. Any business in America relying on print media is dying a slow death. You should always think Web first with an emphasis on interactivity and building relationships. 3. Don’t wait on the church to establish online community. That’s your responsibility. Most people you’re trying to reach won’t visit your church’s website, but they will engage with your Web presence on Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, your blog, etc. 4. You probably need to cut programs and events. Less is more. If you have fewer events and less programs, more people will connect with your ministry. Stop confusing them and help them focus on the next appropriate step. 5. Grow through volunteers. As much as possible, let staff support ministry and encourage volunteers to be responsible for face-to-face connections with the people you are trying to reach or help. When you take those roles out of the hands of volunteers, you’ve essentially limited the growth of your ministry…and taken away their responsibility to make disciples. 6. You are not competing against other ministries. As soon as you sense “your ministry” is competing with another ministry in your church for money, volunteers, space, calendar time, platform promotions, etc., you should resign. You are not a leader. You are, at best, a manager of resources and, at worst, the one holding the entire ministry back from growth and unity.

Business Transformation

7 TIPS TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS WITH SOCIAL MEDIA To make the most of your social media accounts for your business marketing efforts, in addition to checking out the new changes, keep the following in mind: 1. Pay attention to your profile and cover photo. Make sure your profile page reflects your company accurately. Include eye-catching and recognizable photos for your profile and cover photos, such as your company logo. Write an engaging “About” section. This is your chance to shine and show the world what your business is all about and why people would want to check out your offerings.

2. Create groups & circles. Consider the main goal of having your company profile, such as enticing new customers, and then build your circles based on your goal. You should build relationships with people who are regularly engaging with you, as they'll be the ones to share with others about your company. Take advantage of the fact that you can add anyone to your circles. 3. Share. Click share to public when posting, which will maximize your exposure and fuel engagement. When you share a post from your blog or website, comment on the post and why you're sharing it. Avoid always sharing your own products. When possible, do some cross promoting. 4. Comment. Click to and see what everyone is talking about and also add your own comments. This shows you're engaged and may entice people to go to your profile page. 5. Try groups & hangouts. Put your personality behind your brand by hosting hangouts and posting events like product demonstrations and to answer customer questions. 6. Join groups & communities. Find other hangouts to join and then participate and comment regularly. Share your expertise when possible, which can increase your exposure. Remember not to get caught surfing in social media for the fun of it... use can get a lot more enjoyment out of it when you use it to grow your business!

HOW DO WE GROW OUR LOVE When we examine love for our partner and what triggers it we must conclude that there are many variables and as many answers as there are individuals. With divorce rates over 50% in most marriages, we have to realize that something is terribly wrong. And as I believe that all of our problems stem from one fault area, which is greed & selfishness if we can find ways to minimize our greed and selfishness we will see a profound increase in the joy of our relationships.

Scripture puts it this w a y, “ l o v e t h y neighbor as thy self”. We must learn to do unto others as we would do unto ourselves.. Putting your partner first build a relationship of giving; you giving to their needs and them giving to your needs. This will cause you to become closer in spirit which will lead to a greater physical intimacy and cause your love for each other to grow so that your relationship will be affair and divorce proof.

Life Transformation Whether you're fed up with what you're doing now or you want to change something specific about yourself, you can make a decision to change now so that you can enjoy a better, more rewarding life. Sometimes, you just need to take action instead of continuing to pile up dreams without doing anything more about them. Making a big change in a matter of hours may not be possible, but you can at least get started on the path to change. Some things you can do to get started include brainstorming, setting goals, and taking a small step toward your goal.

1 Think about your long-term goals. What are your long-term goals? Think about where you see yourself in ten years. Do you want to be a home owner? Do you want to be running the company you work at now? Do you want to be married with some kids? Consider whether or not you are moving in the right direction to achieve your long term goals. If not, you will need to identify some areas for change.

2 Figure out what you'd like to change. Sometimes change is so big and so scary that you don't want to contemplate it at all. But you can do something about that, and you can do it right now. Grab a piece of paper and a pen. Brainstorm and write out your answers to the following questions as quickly as you can. Don’t get hung up on grammar, spelling, or punctuation, just write.

Life Transformation

3 Read everything that you've written. You've just created a quick, personal road map for change. Over time, you can refine this road map, For now, you've broken down those large and looming "it's all too hard to change" feelings and turned them into some concrete steps. Read through what you have written to solidify them in your mind and start working towards these goals.

4 Break larger objectives on your list up into smaller actionable items. Having a large goal like “become a millionaire” is great as a long term goal, but it does not give you concrete items to work on. To achieve a goal, you need to break it into smaller, more realistic goals. For example, you could break your large goal of becoming a millionaire into something more manageable like “set up a savings account” or “ask for a raise”. These are items that will help to move you closer to your goal and make it seem more manageable.

5 Do something to move towards your goal. After you have reviewed your list of items, figure out what you can easily accomplish in the next 48 hours and do it. Perform as many of these small action steps as you can within the next 48 hours to put yourself on the road to change. AND Always remember the “Nike” Slogan...
