A 22-year-old British national whose mother told reporters is battling mental problems and alcoholism was charged yesterday with stabbing his 80-yearold grandmother multiple times and slicing her throat. Police say James Clark killed Eleanor Clark with a folding knife after an argument in her quiet Conant Road home in Weston. Clark, who has been living in a Dorchester halfway house, was arraigned and held without bail

told the station. It is the first murder in Weston in more than three decades. After the attack, Clark went to a neighbor’s house bleeding with a hand injury, and he was taken to Newton-Wellesley Hospital. After being released, he went to a friend’s house in Newton, who called police after learning what happened, according to Middlesex County District Attorney Gerald Leone. Clark reportedly moved to the United States when he was 2 years old.
