Daniel Gerhartz : What is Left Unsaid An artist who paints from the heart, Daniel Gerhartz captures what words cannot express as his paintings hinge on mood and visceral emotion. Intangible ideas such as hope, romance, tranquility and divine connection are themes often felt across his body of work. His solo exhibition, What is Left Unsaid, emphasizes this idea while encouraging viewers to attach their own experiences and memories to the personal narratives and symbolism found within his paintings. Gerhartz’ exhibition paintings embrace a range of subjects including idyllic landscapes, romantic female figures, or tranquil still life scenes. Across his work is a commitment to capturing and sharing natural beauty based on his own emotional and spiritual connection to his subject. His latest paintings are rich and dramatic, emphasizing the artist’s romantic lighting techniques and gestural painting style. “In Search of the One” is a pastoral scene with dominant female figure, a shepherdess gazing across the landscape. The portrait inspires musings from the viewer – who is this woman and what - or whom - is she searching for? Is it a missing sheep from her flock or does it represent a deeper longing? What Is Left Unsaid encourages viewers to uncover their own meaning within the work, whether it’s a simple resonating emotion or imaginative narrative. Currently based in Wisconsin, Daniel Gerhartz attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago where he was awarded the Faculty Recommendation Scholarship and the President’s Award. His work is exhibited in private and public collections across the country and has been featured in invitational exhibitions including Prix de West. His most recent achievement is receiving the Gold Medal Award and the Member’s Choice Award for the Master Signature Division of the 2021 Oil Painters of America National Juried Show. Meyer Gallery is honored to display this award-winning piece, “What is Left Unsaid,” as the namesake painting for his exhibition.
