Renowned artist Francis Livingston presents his highly anticipated solo exhibition, “Paint In Rhythm,” featuring a captivating new collection of southwest-inspired paintings in his signature expressionist style. The exhibition, hosted by Meyer Gallery, will showcase Livingston’s masterful use of color to create dynamic movement and compositions. Art enthusiasts and collectors are invited to witness the fusion of culture and landscape of the American West in Livingston’s captivating artworks.
“Paint In Rhythm” opens its doors to the public on Friday, August 18th, with an exclusive reception from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. The exhibition will run from August 18th to August 31st, allowing art enthusiasts to experience the magic of Livingston’s paintings in person.
Livingston’s diverse body of work features over 20 exhibition paintings, representing his unique exploration of western subjects and abstract styles. Drawing upon his career as an illustrator, Livingston brings a dedicated work ethic and technical mastery to his paintings, allowing him to create a fusion of loose and abstract elements with tight and realistic expressions. His style evokes a timeless sense of nostalgia, transporting viewers to a bygone era.
“I look at it much like a musician or songwriter,” explains Livingston. “You write one song but you can sing it many different ways – and use that song to create another one. My paintings are planned, but I don’t hesitate to change things. The application shifts as I go, and that’s where the rhythm comes alive.”
Livingston’s artistic journey from San Francisco to Sun Valley, Idaho, has influenced his work, revealing an immense appreciation for the beauty and essence of the American West. Influenced by artists such as Maynard Dixon and the Taos Society, his paintings capture the essence of western landscapes and pueblo architecture, showcasing a brilliant play of light and colors unique to the region.
The opening of “Paint In Rhythm” on August 18th marks a momentous occasion as it will be Francis Livingston’s first live opening since before the pandemic. Art enthusiasts and collectors can immerse themselves in Livingston’s colorful narratives.
