Front Perspective
Settling in Shrewsbury The township of Shrewsbury, New Jersey was originally formed in the 1693. Situated along the northern New Jersey coastline in Monmouth County, Shrewsbury is an affluent suburban shore town and a desirable location to live, work and play. Located at 515 Shrewsbury Avenue, just south of Patterson Avenue and surrounded by colonial homes, shopping and dining, The Chelsea at Shrewsbury is less than a mile and half from the Garden State Parkway. The site of The Chelsea at Shrewsbury was once farmland owned by the Simmons Family. Historic images from the Simmons Farm align the hallway that leads to the Dining Room. The site is the perfect setting for Shrewsbury’s first senior living community since 2000.

From Sketch to Stunning The warm and inviting Lobby welcomes residents and guests with its large two-story fireplace and monumental staircase. The compilation of mixed metals, reclaimed wood and colorful blue and yellow palette, gives the community a signature look and feel right from its doorstep. The fireplace glows with beautiful decorative lighting and a custom hand-made tapestry. The Reception Desk’s front façade is a biophilic design element made of mixed metals which also complement the custom metal balusters along the grand staircase. Meyer’s team of interior designers created hand sketches that evoke a home-like feeling with thoughtful and intuitively-selected materials and finishes.

Serving All Residents Chelsea’s dining experience has a reputation for setting them apart. Some of the most experienced chefs in the food industry work intimately with the community’s registered dietitian to ensure meals are delicious, nutritious and tailored to the needs of residents with specific diets. They offer a comprehensive wellness program that addresses the whole body, mind and spirit. The Dining Room and Memory Care Dining Room are elegantly designed with finely-crafted fabrics, furniture and accessories expertly selected by Meyer’s interior design team.

Placemaking for Programming Meyer worked hand-in-hand with Chelsea Senior Living to implement their programming philosophy of leisure, lifestyles and learning. Monthly events include socials for new members, card clubs, a laughter program, science experiments and community service projects. The stunning Tavern on the third floor pays homage to the Allen House, the most noted tavern in Shrewsbury built circa 1710. Its circular chandelier, wood ceiling, red brick walls, custom doors and comfy furniture provide the perfect setting to enjoy a beverage with friends and family. Barn doors provide flexibility into the adjacent Theater which nods back to old drive-in movie theaters with classic artwork and accessories. The exquisite Art Gallery and Art Room provide residents the ability to display and create beautiful works of art. The community is partnering with A Guild of Creative Arts in Shrewsbury, the largest and oldest art community in the State of New Jersey, to not only show local artist work but also provide a platform for artists to interact and teach art classes with residents.
