Spartan Camp Boot Camp
WE ARE SPARTA!!!
At Spartan Bootcamp, campers will prepare for their next year as a student, athlete, leader and teammate! This camp will allow Spartans to make a serious investment in all they seek to achieve in at MCDS and beyond. Campers will learn about the world of the ancient Spartans and how to apply Spartan dedication to excellence, grit, and loyalty to their life. Campers will be pushed, challenged, and tested in a variety of activities. By the end of the week, they will leave with skills that will enable them to succeed in their classes, sports, and with friends!

CAMP DIRECTOR
Spencer Karnes is an Upper School faculty member in the Humanities Department and this year’s Spartan Boot Camp Director. Mr. Karnes has led camps for kindergarteners to middle schoolers in California, China, and Japan. This camp combines his passion for kids, history, learning, athletics, and character development. Spartan Boot Camp will be staffed by exceptional Spartan athletes and role models from the Upper School, who are dedicated to helping all Spartans succeed!
Sessions I and III are for campers ages 7-10. Session II is for campers ages 11-14.

CAMP ACTIVITIES
• Be crowned a Spartan king or queen • Play like a Spartan: leadership through teamwork • Increase athletic speed and agility • Make your own Spartan shield • Become part of a Spartan phalanx • Make a music video (Session II only) • Learn study skills • Improve academic skills over the summer • Goal setting and follow-up • Spartan graduation ceremony

MONDAY - BASKETBALL Skills: balance, speed agility, passing, teamwork TUESDAY - SOCCER Skills: balance, speed agility, passing, teamwork WEDNESDAY - PHALANX Skills: teamwork, communication THURSDAY - RUNNING/SWIMMING Skills: endurance, conditioning FRIDAY - SPARTAN ATHLETIC CHALLENGE Put it all together! Campers participate in a fantastic athletic competition to test the skills gained.

Spartans are famed for their dedication to excellence, grit and loyalty to each other. Surely, it is this tradition that has helped Miami Country Day make it to its 75th year. At Spartan Boot Camp, we will enhance your leadership and team building skills through learning about our fierce mascot’s history, making crafts, and athletic competitions! Campers should bring athletic shoes, shorts, water bottle, and sunscreen everyday. Daily lunch and snacks, two camp shirts, and a certificate of completion will be provided. Cost: $320/week
