Your Support Changes Lives Everyday!
B l e ssi n g s t o Our Wonderfu l F riends Dear Friend of the Hungry and Homeless, During the Fall months, our three Centers in Miami, Hollywood and Pompano Beach will be serving over 250,000 meals to the homeless and hungry of our community. For so many, that meal is the first step in transforming their life. That warm, inviting meal offers a little bit of hope in what has become dark days for too many of our men, women and children and is the catalyst for those beginning to believe in their own future. Our vision is “No One is Homeless”, and we have been utilizing every square inch of space so as to accommodate those in need. But, it is only with your continued support that we are able to strive toward our vision and the idea of a better community. Our annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet serves thousands each year. Be sure to tune in to our Radio Share-A-Thon which will be taking place Wednesday, November 14th on NewsRadio 610AM(100.3FM) from 6AM to 7 PM. We’ll be talking about our Fall “No One is Hungry or Homeless” Campaign and hope to beat last year’s raised support. Listeners are able to hear stories about the lives being changed on our three campuses, as well as call in to donate that day, enabling us to continue transforming lives each and every day of the year. Thank you for being a compassionate supporter, I always say our supporters are the greatest people in the world! Blessings to you and your loved ones, Rev. Ronald Brummitt, President

The Miami Center for Men opened in its current location at 2020 NW 1st Avenue in 1989. (The taller building in the background of the above picture). The original center was located in downtown Miami but the city bought the property to build the old Arena complex on North Miami Ave. The 2020 building has four floors and originally was meant to house 160 men in emergency and residential programs. It presently is home to over 230 men. Spaces have been utilized to prioritize the need to get hurting and homeless people off the streets. Hundreds of thousands of meals have been served and thousands of lives have been transformed through your support of this Center. Dr. Frank Jacobs, President Emeritus, often said that the 2020 building was to help men gain perfect vision for their future and to connect with God. Over the years the homeless demographics have changed. There are more younger homeless (in their twenties) and in the last few years, more people have come for services due to the economy, lack of work, evictions, and other factors. Last year some real miracles took place and we were able to secure another building which we are currently in the process of renovating. It’s located at 2031 NW 1st Court - directly behind the original building. The above picture is not how the building looks presently, it’s the artist rendering. This new building will allow us to provide an additional 78 residential beds for men who are enrolled in the Regeneration Program as well as provide meeting rooms, offices, and general assembly areas. We are thankful for funding from a grant award we received from FHLBank Atlanta’s Affordable Housing Program and from very special donors to get this needed expansion off the ground. Capponi Construction has been a great partner in other projects and is spearheading the expansion. There is a great need of additional funding. The expecting opening will be in the first part of 2013. You are invited to come and see this great project in person - call 305.571.2273 or e-mail info@caringplace.org.
A Th an kfu l Suppo r t e r We are so thankful to all of our donors and supporters. Bernice has been a financial partner for many years. Recently she attended one of our community lunches which are informal and are a way to connect with our supporters. Bernice also took a tour of the Miami Centers. “I’ve been giving for years, but this is the first time I’ve seen all that is being done to help those in need. I’m truly amazed and can see that my donations are making a difference. I really had no idea of how many people were here and everyone I met was so nice. This place is more like a college campus than a homeless center.” Your are invited to visit any of our Centers and see how your support changes lives.
Don’t forget to tell you friends about our annual Radio Share-a-Thon. It all happens on Wednesday, November 14th on NewsRadio 610AM or 100.3FM. It will be a day for many of our graduates and staff to express their gratitude and raise funds for our programs. Thank You for helping the least, the last and the lost

A Thankful Graduate
“I was born and raised in New York and lived there until about 10 years ago. My dad left when I was around 7 and my mom raised me and my brothers and sisters. I was wild as a teenager and became a member of a local gang at 15. I dropped out of school when I became pregnant about a year later. I was crazy. I would rather be with my gang friends than my own family. My mom didn’t know what to do with me and my brothers and sisters stopped talking to me. I loved my son, but wasn’t a very good mom. I was doing drugs and getting into trouble most of the time. My mom basically raised him until I moved to Miami with my boyfriend. My boyfriend left me the first year. I was in a mess. No job, still using drugs, and trying to raise my son who was being bounced from school to school. I needed help and I’m so grateful to have someone get me to the Miami Rescue Mission Center for Women and Children. I was treated so kindly and everyone was so helpful. My life really changed. I became a better parent and my goal was to get my high school diploma and go to college. Well, it has been a few years, but I did get to college and graduated to become a teacher. My son is doing fine and my relationship with my family is great. I support the Center financially and help around the holidays. Thank you for your support that did so much for me, “ Jennifer, a thankful graduate. Miami Rescue Mission, Inc. Broward Outreach Centers Rev.
