Kindergarten Bilingual Students Keep A Healthy Body! Mrs. Lissette Millan – Kindergarten Bilingual Teacher
CITeD Barranquitas
At the S.U. Federico Degetau School in Barranquitas students keep their body healthy. They eat well and exercise everyday in order to succeed in their daily educational life. My students from the Kindergarten Bilingual group have learned to keep their body healthy in order to become strong and well developed human beings. It is important to encourage in our students the importance of eating correctly and how this can affect their knowledge. As an educator, I believe that encouraging our students with various fun activities will help them acquire the knowledge more effectively. My friend and health teacher at my school, Mrs. Damaris Ayala performs dynamic and fun activities in teaching healthy habits to the students. An activity that we shared with her was “Por Tu Salud...¡Muévete!”. Here, the students danced to the
rhythm of Zumba music to exercise their body and brain. Mr. Pedro Hernández, the Zumba Instructor, first oriented the students about the importance of exercising everyday and how this will help them feel better. Then, he continued with a Zumba routine with lots of fun movements were the students felt very excited and motivated to participate. Another activity in which Mrs. Ayala presented the importance of healthy habits was “My Restaurant”, Kindergarten Bilingual students had the opportunity to prepare a plate using the food pyramid to prepare a special dish for this restaurant. They shared ideas and participated with the teacher preparing a special and healthy restaurant. These activities were of most fun and learning achievement for our students. Let’s make learning fun!
