Christian Marclay : The Clock
Tate Modern Tate Modern
Christian Marclay’s acclaimed installation The Clock 2010 has captivated audiences across the world from New York to Moscow. 24-hours long, the installation is a montage of thousands of film and television images of clocks, edited together so they show the actual time. It is a thrilling journey through cinematic history as well as a functioning timepiece.
Following several years of rigorous and painstaking research and production, Marclay collected together excerpts from well-known and lesser-known films including thrillers, westerns and science fiction. He then edited these so that they flow in real time. When watching The Clock you experience a vast range of narratives, settings and moods within the space of a few minutes.

The Cork studio The Cork Studio, a garden building made almost entirely out of cork, has been constructed by Studio Bark as a building prototype that can be completely recycled, reused or composted. To challenge the architecture industry dependence on "unhealthy single-use materials", London-based architects Studio Bark sought to demonstrate how one eco-friendly material can could be used to form an entire building envelope. "We built the Cork Studio to show that there is an alternative."

Vexed VexedGeneration Generation Born as a passion project between Adam Thorpe and Joe Hunter, Vexed Generation was created at a time where censorship was enforced and a bevy of intrusive laws, all stringing from the 1994 crime bill, infringed upon a once liberated scene. In an age where digital channels merely existed (in comparison to the current social media craze), the design duo decided to channel their frustrations into designing the uniform of the era’s growing political angst. For Londoners at the time, Vexed Generation was the perfect marriage of political angst and avant-garde style.
“We wanted people to be able to have as much mobility as they could in a city, and we wanted to maintain anonymity if people required it... But more than the protection element of it, it was designed to promote and provoke debate” – Joe Hunter
