Changing Perception AW’19

Summary Conflicted

We have got to a point where we are starting to question everything around us. As we continue to intellectually advance forward, we can’t help but look into our past and try to revert back to our original states and habits. People are breaking free of unsustainable habits and norms which have been taught through generations and are starting to see things for what they really are. This is guiding people in the direction of a more natural and resistance free way of living, whether it be the products they use or the mentality they adapt.

Limitless Sustainable Natural Perception Translucent Alternative Tolerance

Concept one : Simply saving the planet 3D p i t od The Engineers at Columbia University have 3D-printed a block of "digital wood", using a voxel technique that enables the creation of objects with rich internal textures. As voxel printing results in intricately arranged material particles throughout the resulting object, it offers designers nearly limitless manufacturing possibilities Almost everybody is aware of the shortage of trees we have due them being cut down to sustain our way of living. Any attempt to reduce that problem should be at the top of our priority list.

The Cork Studio, a garden building made almost entirely out of cork, has been constructed by Studio Bark as a building prototype that can be completely recycled, reused or composted. To challenge the architecture industry's dependence on "unhealthy single-use materials", London-based architects Studio Bark sought to demonstrate how one eco-friendly material can could be used to form an entire building envelope. "We built the Cork Studio to show that there is an alternative."

Design-build firm Cover uses computer algorithms to create customised backyard dwellings for homes, has completed its first project: a small studio in Los Angeles. The emerging technology uses algorithms to generate every possible permutation of a design solution. We want technology things to be simpler and faster, that exactly what the company Cover has done.

It is true that the younger you are, the more likely you were to vote to stay in the EU – studies suggest just over 70% of 18-24 year-olds voted Remain, while just under 30% opted to vote Leave. The older you are, the more likely you were to vote Leave. So, it’s fair to say that on the whole, younger people were more pro-EU than their parents and grandparents – only 40% of those aged 65 and over supported Remain. The interesting part is involved the younger generations were when it came to voting and how prevalent it was in their conversations and social media.

A major group exhibition of sculptures and installations that explored perception and space. Many of the artworks in this exhibition were constructed from translucent materials such as glass, acrylic and polyester resins. Others involved the use of reflective materials, including stainless steel, polished bronze and, in one case, engine oil. Luscious and seductive – and often demonstrating huge technical accomplishment – these objects act as optical devices that enable us to see our surroundings in new and unexpected ways.

This blanket by Thinx is designed to soak up blood, so that women on their period can have sex without ruining the bed sheets. This type of product really shows how our way of thinking is evolving. It shows us that people are now understanding that two perfectly natural occurrences such as periods, sex and sex on a woman’s period are no longer seen as taboo. In fact the luxury design of the mat is almost encouraging and not off putting.
