PRECISION AG
CONSULTANT DELIVERS ON THE VALUE ADD The role of the Precision Ag Consultant is leading, training and developing new Precision Ag products for the dealership and our customers. Consultant Duane Simon has been doing just that. 30% Engaged Acre Goal We have placed a goal of helping customers across C & B upload their farms and fields to the John Deere Operations Center. We are doing this to help customers turn the way they look at their data from picture ag into precision ag. When data is uploaded, the customer can make insightful decisions to improve their output and bottom line of their operation. This is no small task as it takes 2.2 Million acres in total for our dealership to reach this goal! Duane Simon has been very proactive in his approach with customers from sitting down one on one with them to manually upload their data from APEX or their display, to many customer clinics this spring, to ordering Mobile Data Transfer sticks, and promoting automated uploads right from the cab with JDLink Connect. To date, the Northern South Dakota stores have surpassed their 30% goal and are very close to achieving 42%! Another secret to his success has been selling a mobile JDLink kit that allows a customer to move the JDLink terminal between all machines in their operation so the customer can take advantage of JDLink Connect anytime they have a 2630 or 4640 display in their cab. To date, Duane has sold 23 of these kits. Innovation Duane, much like many of his Precision Ag coworkers, enjoy the challenge of compatibility and finding a way, through technology, to help customers achieve their goals. Duane developed a hydraulic conversion kit for air carts which allows customers to leverage map based prescriptions, section control and enter desired seeding rates right from the cab. This system was designed from the ground up with a few modifications along the way, but Duane is very confident in the value that it brings growers. Need I mention it also will document rates right on the GreenStar display which promotes engaged acres once uploaded to the Operations Center. This is a kit that can be used company wide, so contact Duane to learn more today. Duane has sold 31 Conversion kits so far. Which one of your customers will benefit from the next kit?
Above and beyond all of this, Duane still enjoys looking after Precision Ag in his region and supporting C & B customers. He has been with the company for just over 10 years and specializes in Precision Ag but is also a great resources for sprayers as well.

FAREWELL TO OUR FRIEND BARB Barb Irwin was born on May 20th, 1953, and passed away in her home on August 10th, 2018. Barb had been battling cancer before she was united with her maker in heaven. On August 18th we celebrated her life at the LDS church in Sheridan, Wyoming. It was a time to laugh, cry and remember all the things that Barb did to make all our lives better. Her family, friends and work colleagues were all in attendance, celebrating her life and the life she had. Special thanks to all who attended, it was very special to have the group from Gettysburg there. Barb was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, to Bill and Nancy Cossitt. There were 5 children in the family, and they lived in Ranchester, Wyoming. She graduated from high school in June of 1974 and was married shortly after to Jim Irwin. They had two children, Mike and Shelly, and 4 grandchildren. Barb worked at a few jobs in Ranchester before coming to Sheridan County Implement, John Deere. She was one of the first employees that was hired by the store manager, Justin Hossfeld, as they were starting the new store. Barb’s career as store admin lasted for 17 years.
Barb had three priorities in life: faith, family and career. Barb was one of the most spiritual people that I knew. She devoted her life to serving the Lord and in the service of the church. She was involved with several committees and headed up several church efforts in Ranchester. Barb, Brandi Dayton and I would spend several hours talking about her faith during break times at SCI. The next priority in her life was family, and she treated us all as family. Barb loved getting to know all the employees at SCI and one of the joys of her job was onboarding new employees. Sometimes it would take a little longer than normal to onboard a new employee, but what I knew was that the new employee felt very welcome and Barb knew all about them when she was done onboarding them. While getting to know her, you found out that Barb loved kids, and at the top of her kid list were her grandkids. When she would talk about here grandchildren she would have a big smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye, she loved them dearly. Lastly, she took pride in her work and was always very proud of the work that went on at Sheridan County Implement. One of her highlights was the annual admin retreat that happened in Gettysburg. She would come back from that trip excited and tell us all about it, the things they learned, and the fun things that Matt C. would do for them. She would say upon returning from the admin retreat, “Us girls and Bobby had a blast!” She loved that trip and all of you on that team.
