Learning The Art Of Karate: Technology Plays Its Part

Understanding the physics of Karate The MIT students were excited and interested to know more about the “Physics of Karate, the popular martial art form; “physics” and “karate”? How are they going to be a combo package, particularly, when they belong to two different genus? Well, the students take varying degrees in physics through prescribing dissertations and the Karate students, do this by breaking an inch of bricks or any hard material. Through researches, it has been found that the martial art form, Karate was brought to the country, the United States by servicemen, military forces in the early 1960s and the teaching methods were really hard and proved to be injurious and extremely harsh. This does not mean that martial art pioneers were cruel; it is just that the teaching methods, which they employed were traditional and no martial art form in the past advocated fights and kicks without blood and bruises!!

Physics is actually involved in it!! What actually is the trick behind the “bricks bursting procedures”? The visceral power of physics; breaking with bare hands is possible if you apply the real force, momentum and maintain the appropriate positioning and this is probably one of the strongest movements, ever been practiced or conceived by the human beings. Sometimes the best and professional boxers cannot break concrete blocks or bricks easily. Of course, it is only through practice that the “black belters” do all these tricks, but they follow a different pattern of physics, which allows them to lash out like a cobra and then withdraw instantly. The time period may vary from two to five milliseconds and yet finally the results are always astonishing for the audience!! In the other

case, the boxer throws his fist directly on the opponent, which gives the maximum “punch” and “force”.
