March is here and I am ecstatic! This brings my favorite time of year…March Madness! I believe everyone needs a break from this dreary weather and we need more sun and spring vibes in our life.

As we continue our forward movement in 2023, I think it’s important to share that our AAO Board has approved the first Rent Assistance payment of $21,500, which was released at the end of February! This contribution continues to help those in need, as we continue to navigate challenges with the pandemic as well as other challenges presented with housing payments.

the 5K 4 Rent Walk/Run. We are hopeful the weather cooperates this year and we have a beautiful day! Thank you so much to our sponsors who have contributed more than $13,750 so far. In addition, Tri-State Running Company is donating more than $1,000 worth of gift cards for the male and female winners and the overall winners by age category! And, new this year, we will have a Dunkin Donuts wall along with our delicious Chick-fil-A breakfast sandwiches! The website is live at www.5k4rent.org where you can register to participate in this fun event at Friendship Park!

Additionally, the AAO Board authorized a payment of $20,000 to our Food Pantry partners. We are so fortunate to partner with more than twenty food pantries throughout the tri-state area and help our community members in need.

We will continue to look for opportunities to financially support our Rental Assistance Program as well as our Food Pantry partners throughout the year. We are proud to be able to support these pillars of our nonprofit program this early in the year.

Lastly, we are currently looking for opportunities to support some of our senior living communities, which is a priority for the 2023 Outreach Board. Look for more information to come over the next month. In addition, the next opportunity to bag food for Childhood Food Solutions is April 19. Please contact Susan at GCNKAA if you are interested.

Our entire board is immensely grateful for the Champions for Outreach Sponsors which have contributed more than $140,000 so far! Their continued support helps AAO utilize funds to contribute to those in need. We would like to thank our entire membership, in advance, for your continued financial support of Outreach and our efforts to help those in our community who deserve our assistance.
